Xperiment

The Xperiment app lets scientists run studies that are simply not possible on the web. The app lets the scientist use your devices features such as vibration, touchscreen and tilt, opening up some novel ways of furthering science.

As with Xperiment’s web research, only studies that follow our strict guidelnes may be run your smartphone. Studies permited to run on your device:

1. must have been granted local ethical approval or have been classfied as being exempt from local ethical approval,

2. are compliant with ‘Ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects’ of Helsinki Declaration (World Medical Association, 2004)

3. must be approved by Xperiment.mobi.

The above, and relevant local laws, impose a strict set of rules the scientist must adhere to, regarding conduct and the collection and storage of personal information. The American Psychological Association, for example, require that Scientists ‘code data to hide identities’. Scientists MUST request permission to collect any personal information critical to their research. The scientist must also specify where and how this information is stored.
