About Pocket Weather Australia

Australia's original and best weather app sources its data from the only place that matters: the Bureau of Meteorology.

Built by locals right here in Australia, we've spent a lot of time refining and building the weather app we all want to use. So whether you need to check what it's going to be like this week on your phone or tablet we have you covered!

For those that love details though, we have some for you:
- Detailed weather information for every suburb in Australia
- Hourly temperature predictions 7 days into the future
- All the Bureau of Meteorology rain radars
- Dark theme (by default this comes on at night, or you can permanently toggle it in the app settings)
- National synoptic chart
- Tide times (with offline support)
- Detailed observation information, which you can edit to show only the bits that interest you
- All the Bureau of Meteorology warnings for around the country
- Notification support if you want to be notified of warnings as they occur
- 72 hours of historical information for each location
- Supports phones and tablets of varying sizes

We've worked long and hard over the years to bring you the weather and version 5 continues that legacy. As always we're open to your feedback and have even more amazing updates in the pipeline.

In the meantime, enjoy the weather!

Love this app, a user for 8+ years. The app is essential for any Australian user. Best integration of BOM data/alerts & warnings. Would love to see a "Cool Change Alert" If temperature drops 5°c in 15mins for example, triggers an alert. Not sure if its feasible but just wish!

U70%
by U####:

I've noticed this app doesn't take into account some locations that are on BOM, such as DeGrussa Aerodrome, which is what I would like to see added. It looks pretty awesome but newer free apps are starting to look and perform better.

U70%
by U####:

A clean, well designed (if slightly uninspiring) app with plenty of accurate weather data presented in a very user friendly manner with many of the key features you'd expect from a weather app (widgets, notifications, etc.). I got this app so long ago that I can't remember how much it costs (if it costs anything at all) but I can say for sure that whatever it costs, it's worth it.

O70%
by O####:

What happened to the detailed immediate severe weather warnings? There used to be immediate threat maps.

U70%
by U####:

Used to be the best weather app on playstore but last few months has become buggy and closes frequently on my S6 Edge Plus. Is there anyone else having these issues?

F70%
by F####:

In recent times the temperature graph has been a little buggy - data for recent-past hours are often missing altogether, or the graph wraps around itself in an impossible fashion. Future data seems OK.

U70%
by U####:

Without a clock on the widget, it's far behind the competition. I think it's time they have users that option when they add choose widgets. Also, the graphs and animations don't have legends. So can't tell what you're looking at. Also, where is the humidity reading on the graphs?

H70%
by H####:

Used to be the best app for Australian weather. Now with no rain, sat view, radar or touch for radar stations you might as well just go to BOM website or any other app for all other generic weather info.

Have used a different app for years but finally decided to switch. This one has lovely, clean design and all the info I need.

The best weather app in aus, only issue is warning don't come through anymore, seems to be glitching a bit too, good you can fix it :(

Was great until they broke tides in Australia right at the start of peak holiday and fishing season.

Still no Android Wear support!

Hey guys. How come the warning area map isn't shown when state warnings come through. Sooo much better with the map.

U70%

The best for Aussies. Well done lots of detail. Way better than weather zone for accuracy

Great app. Very useful. Just one small request. Could you include the moon phase?

Overall, the best Australian weather app I have found. Love it.

Good app, poor support. Our suburb is always shown in forecasts to be 3 degrees hotter than the rest of the city (Toowoomba) so no logical reason for it. Emailed support and after watching tumbleweeds blow by to the sound of crickets, hoping this elicits some kind of response. BOM app shows correct forecast... P.s. we use the paid version so don't think this is too much to ask. Update: Still no response. Using another app now, will be uninstalling this one...

The latest update broke the satellite view. I really like this view but now I've got to click on the radar view, go to the National tab, click on the Satellite view and even then it just plays through once and I have to press pause then play and keep doing to to see the animation. It'd be great if I could make the sat view a default on the home page and all the views should keep repeating the animation by default until you press pause, at least that's my preference as seeing the changes over time helps you see what's happening. Apart from that the app is pretty good, I've been happily using it for many many years.

Humidity data is gone, "Feels like -", "Relative humidity" tile says no data available. Satellite map is always 2 hours old. Temp readings only accurate in CBD, eg; assumes everyone in Newcastle lives near the beach. Have been using other apps now. In fact, I'm uninstalling, no point keeping this app just cos I paid paid for it.

H70%
by H####:

Latest version radar has gone backwards big time. Radar looping on Android Lollipop not working (just single pass showing), radar refreshing is not current and is some 10 to 20 mins behind what BOM is showing, also satellite view & zoom feature which was great is now gone. Used to be an excellent app, but not now.

C70%
by C####:

The app is buggy and struggles to update and provide forcasts. Not impressed. For a paid app this is bloody poor. If the elders website can accurately get their data from BOM then so should your app. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6 on telstra network.

I do not recommend this app. I have emailed tech supp numerous times relating to incorrect temperatures. For example, melbourne Australia experienced 2 days of very hot weather (40 degrees). Other weather apps were practically spot on with their temperature whereas Pocket Weather was out by 10-12 degrees. On a daily basis this app is out by 5-10 degrees. I have since deleted the app and use a more reliable weather app.

The latest update is really good, each section of the summary page opening a new one. Performance is fantastic. Radar page crashed on me once, but loaded the very next time. Also love the attention to detail for Australia Day ????

so, i was going to upgrade this app today and it says i cant as that app is not compatible with my device. well, it's always been compatible since i brought it till this latest version. why cripple it for us buyers and long time users?

N70%
by N####:

Pocket Weather is a great looking app that fails me on basic functionality. Location is frequently miscalculated (by hundreds of kilometres) making "local" weather reporting completely inaccurate. Emails to support go unanswered and no fix is forthcoming so I regretfully have to uninstall it and find a better solution.

U70%
by U####:

Totally worth the price. Tried out other apps but nothing really compares. Always come back to this app. Elegant formatting. Always improving. Reasonably accurate forecasts(unlike some that consistently over or under estimate rainfall chance). Would recommend to anyone. Great job.

Z70%
by Z####:

The widget used to show the weather for your current location; it now only shows the selected capital city, even when the "follow me" option is enabled. Love this app but this makes the app a lot less handy than it used to be, as I now have to open up the app to check the weather at my current location

Z70%
by Z####:

Latest update has ruined the radar screens. Seems like we're back to 2014. New and improved? Wake up. May as well just use the BOM website. Notice how Shifty are ignoring these complaints. Shifty indeed.

A70%
by A####:

Hey Team, like the app - long time user. I've been having issues with follow my location. I'm in West End (4101) - and follow my location understands that but sets my location as West End (4810). Brisbane is not Townsville! Please investigate.

Z70%
by Z####:

Can you fix the radar so it stays in normal mode instead of changing to the slow satellite mode. Its just too slow and confusing. And on a tablet it refuses to go to 64km mode. Always jumps to 128km. I want a normal view, not satellite view. Please fix.I'll give more stars when fixed. This has been my main complaint since the new look and its still not fixed. * did this new version fix any of the bugs ive reported? nope, all the bugs are still there and now the app looks even worse.

Not updating location??! Follow me? It takes a couple of days before the app finds me. I have to search nearby locations. Pressing update doesn't do location update. I've sent emails before...

They have gone back to using the low res BOM maps for radar, it feels like a downgrade for me, what a shame. Wish they would give me the option to go back to the Google maps version!
