La palabra "salmos" viene de la traducción de distintas palabras de origen griego, las cuales, traducidas, le
dan los estos nombres: himno, oración, alabanza, composición o canto de alabanza hacia Dios y canción cantada
con acompañamiento de algún instrumento de cuerda. El libro de los Salmos está formado por un conjunto de 150 poemas compuestos para ser musicalizados. Éste es el libro más largo de la biblia y está formado por cinco divisiones.
