This is essentially the Android version of the Windows Registry Editor. It's invaluable if you need it, but if you're not careful you're very likely to mess something up.
By default, for your protection, Android prevents you from modifying the SECURE and GLOBAL tables. If you have Android Jellybean or later, you can remove this protection from an ADB shell using the command "pm grant by4a.setedit android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS". On earlier versions, you can only remove this protection on a rooted device by installing Settings Database Editor to the system partition.
Can't edit anything at all and need a pc for everything. Lol. Don't waste your time and space. Update: I am rooted
Whenever l try to edit something l am unable to save it. I always get "unexpected failure" as a feedback. I don't have data toggle on my samsung galaxy s5 sprint (marshmallow) notification panel so l assumed that this app will enable me to add it but unfortunately l always get the "unexpected failure" when l edit and try to save it. Pls help
When creating string "hide_virtual_key" in system with any value (1 or 0)
APP will not let me change global settings when try to use "pm grant by4a.setedit android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS" in adb shell to change permissions I get error that say pm not recognized as an internal external command. Samsung galaxy S6 6.1
Works perfectly !!!
Just what I was looking for. Works just like it says on the tin. Just make sure you know what you're doing, unless you enjoy factory resets or worse, lol.
Useful app. got access to .db file and edit no problem.
