Festival musik rock (yang dikenal sebagai Festival Rock se Indones) diselenggarakan dengan beberapa sponsor pada tahun 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1996, 2001, 2004, dan 2007 (11 kali penyelenggaraan).

Festival Rock se Indonesia ini bisa dikatakan adalah ajang musik rock yang paling bergengsi dibanding festival serupa yang pernah diselenggarakan. Sejak pertama kali diadakan, dengan nama Festival Rock se Indonesia mencatat beberapa rekor. Antara lain penyelenggaraannya secara maraton selama 15 jam nonstop, dari jam pukul 10.30 hingga 01.30. Yang kedua diikuti 30 grup rock dari sejumlah kota di tanah air yang berlaga di atas panggung terbesar sepanjang sejarah pertunjukan musik rock di Indonesia waktu itu, 50 X 12 meter.
