About New Salwar Kameez Designs
Salwar kameez is a traditional dress worn by men and women in Asia. This outfit was originally worn in Afghanistan and in the last century, women in India used this clothing as a complement to the essence. The pants are wide at the top and narrow at the bottom. The edge kelim is left open below the waist line to give the wearer ease of movement.
Salwar kameez first appeared in the 12th century, ie in the Islamic era or Iran, followed by the Mughal empire in what is now called Punjabi. His trousers, or shalawar, are known as shalvaar qameez in Urdu, salvaar or shalvaar in Hindi, salvar in Punjabi, and salvaar or shalvaar in Gujarati. The word comes from Persian meaning pants.
While his dress, kameez or qamiz, comes from the qamis Arabic. There are two hypotheses about the origin of the word:
- qamis comes from the Latin camisia (shirt), derived from the primordial Indo-European language kem ('cloak').
- The word camisia is adapted through [Greek] kamision derived from the Semitic "qmṣ", which is then absorbed by Ugarit qmṣ ('clothing') and Arabic qamīṣ ('clothes').
The salwar kameez or Punjabi outfit, which is also popular among women in northern India, consists of long blauses paired with loose long pants, and colored headbands. Indian women also like to wear dupattas on their shoulders while wearing salwar kameez.
