About acmqueue

acmqueue is the ACM's magazine for practicing software engineers. Written by software practitioners and developers for software practitioners and developers, acmqueue focuses on the technical problems and challenges that loom ahead, helping readers to sharpen their own thinking and pursue innovative solutions. acmqueue does not focus on either industry news or the latest "solutions." Rather, the technical articles, columns and case studies take a critical look at current and emerging technologies, highlighting challenges and hurdles that are likely to arise and posing questions that software engineers should be thinking about. acmqueue is the best way for practicing software engineers to keep up with the field. Each bimonthly issue comes packed with solid, well-grounded content developed with an eye to keeping readers informed and guiding better engineering and design choices.

Was a decent reader for the acmqueue magazine PDFs, but now it won't let me login with my ACM account any more. Guess I'll have to wait for the current issue to appear in the Digital Library.

A limited PDF reader from a decade ago. Crashed when rotated. No text reflow to fit screen. ACM itself clearly knows little about making useful software. Queue should never have left paper.

N70%
by N####:

Pro: I can read ACM Queue without entering a password every time. Cons: To resume reading, have to click through 3 screens to get back to reading. Content is formatted for print -- font is to small without zooming and there is a larger empty margin. Reading while zoomed is awkward -- there is no way to auto zoom and center on the content, omitting the margin, and no way to turn pages while zoomed. The app has gotten int a mode where the screen is always black. That is, I cannot see the content.

Can't login using my ACM login which is accepted by the other ACM apps.

The magazine layout looks nice but is completely inadequate for phone screens. Text is too small and I don't want to zoom to adjust it to a readable size on every page. I'd much prefer reading acmqueue in my RSS reader or as epub, both of which handle text properly regardless of screen size. On top of that, the app requests excessive permissions for what it brings.

This is an app that I'm going to really appreciate this is one of those who really need to get this taken care of it but they keep them at home

Every few months I try again but it has yet to deliver the magazine. Usually give up waiting for magazine to download. If I wait 10+ minutes then it says authenticating forever when selecting the magazine. Exit and re-enter and magazine needs to be downloaded again.

Poorly coded....on Nexus 6 crashed during the download of the current issue every time. The graphics is awfully stretched.... From ACM I was expecting more .

Can login and view online with ACM creds, keep getting failed auth with this app. Uninstalling.

I don't like the paging; I have to scroll back out before a page swipe. I would like to double-tap to automatically fit screen size then swipe page. Not sure why ACM needs some permissions such as identity, in-app purchase and phone. Overall, a good basic reader with excellent content ( content is king)!

Uninstalled it right away.

Why is there a software menu button? Why can't I open the pages already downloaded? Why is this so ugly?
