Vishal kapur Surface Design Studio was set up in 2007 by Vishal Kapur, an alumnus of National Institute of Design- Ahmedabad. He is a hardcore experimentalist with design and craft. He has been actively involved in creating innovative collections for home décor as well as for fashion applications. He also specializes in creating unique handicraft based interior art installations.The Studio focuses on helping the handicraft sector to sustain its traditional craft and prevent it from getting misinterpreted into modern kitche.Vishal has created a niche for himself by creating one of a kind ensembles conceptualised with experimental inspirations and unique layouts. He works closely with artisans from all over India giving them fresh directions for new product development which help them broaden their vision.Traditional crafts where the studio is highly active include zardozi from Bareilly, appliqué and badla work from Aligarh, block printing from Sanganer(Jaipur), stone powder work from Madhya Pradesh and handlooms from Venkatgiri, Banaras and Chanderi.
