About Dead Zone Alert

Every single Android phone needs one!

The main function of every Android phone is - to communicate.

Surprisingly, there is no built-in loud and clear audio visual alert when the connection is gone.
When the signal is gone, the phone typically displays the appropriate icon, in total silence.
In other words, user can enter the "dead zone", without being aware there is no communication signal anymore.

Dead zones (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_phone_signal#Dead_zones) are geographical regions where cell phones cannot transmit to a nearby cell site, base station, or repeater. In these areas, the cell phone is said to be in a state of outage. In dead zones cell phone service is not available because the signal between the handset and cell site antennas is blocked, usually by hilly terrain, excessive foliage, or physical distance. Wireless service providers usually call dead zones "coverage holes" or "no-service areas". Sometimes these areas can be as small as few square meters, and placing the phone just a few meters away may bring phone signal back.
Android phones have low battery alert, alerting user that the phone is going to go out of service due to low battery. There is however, no alert telling the user that the phone has already gone in the state of outage, either due to entering dead zone, or the service network outage at the given location. If the phone is in the sleeping mode (screen off), user can be unaware of the outage.
Dead Zone Alert is a utility program for Android 2.1+ devices that notifies the user as soon as the signal is lost.
After the “signal lost” notification, there are two additional delayed “signal lost” alerts, provided that the state of outage persists.
After the re-establishment of cell phone network service, “signal is back” alert is sent to the user, and the previous “signal lost” notification removed from the notification bar. We like clean notification bars.
Notifications and alerts have ring-tone, vibration and LED components. These are fully customizable through the preferences.
Two additional delayed “signal lost” alerts can also be enabled and disabled through the preferences. The time interval of the initial first delay is also customizable. The second delay time interval is ten times longer than the first one. I.e., if notification delay is set to 2 seconds, the first alert is at the moment of the outage, next one is 20 seconds later, and the last one is 200 seconds later.

Audio - visual settings and preferences can be previewed through simulated “signal lost test” and “signal back test”. You can test the actual functioning of the program by going into the "Airplane mode".

Entire service can be turned on and off from the main activity. The program would NOT start automatically after reboot. It has to be started manually. We do not like aggressive programs that lurk in the background.

The initial setup is done through the 4-step installation wizard where you select the options you want to use. The wizard is executed only once, during the installation. Later options changes are available through the setup view.

"Dead Zone Alert" is add-supported.

In order to prioritize support and future changes, we need to know a bit of information, and we do collect the following data: phone manufacturer and model, Android version number, country of installation and numerical id code of your telephone company (mobile country code "MCC" is used in combination with a mobile network code "MNC", also known as a "MCC / MNC tuple" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code). We DO NOT collect user-names, your phone number, e-mail address, IMEI, personal or any other information.
