Got the pulse for my camera (the support guy said it would work), and it does not. Complete ripoff and a waste of money. Do not buy or use 0/10 would not recommend

My Pulse keeps disconnecting from my phone and app says firmware out of date. Tried submitting a query but reply says they will try to address on next software update. Not good enough, l have a unit which is unusable and an app that can't update. Not impressed, sorry.

Backed on Kickstarter, had no issues whatsoever using Galaxy S6 and Canon 600d. Works as advertised, decent battery life. Not had any issues with the application. I'm fact, recently did a 30 minute time lapse with great results. Thanks Alpine Labs.

This was a fiasco. It's useless. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on this or the new upcoming SPARKS better donate to charity

You can't update the app

This product was the biggest waste of 100$ I've spent my money on. I remember right when it came out it worked... Once. Then stopped connecting and ever being able to be used or even be updated for that matter. As a Kickstarter supporter I am very displeased with this companies efforts. Everybody who purchased this product should have gotten a full refund.

Don't waste your money on the pulse it's a piece of junk they tell you to up date your app but it won't update you think they would have put a newer app in playroom first or have you an up date button don't buy and waste $100

Since update, bluetooth keeps dropping out and won't connect. This was suppose to be a present but there is no way I can give this now when it doesn't work. Glad I tested it first.

Wasted money purchasing Pulse device. Non-functional device and primitive app. Waiting for Alpine support to solve the problem. Right now all I have is a plastic brick on my Nikon D750 hot shoe with a blue blinks light. I want a refund. UPDATE: 27 APR 2017- After an exchange of emails and a few attempts to follow the suggestions provided by Alpine support, I was successful in upgrading the firmware of Pulse to the most recent edition. The PULSE was then able to perform as advertised on my Nikon D750. My initial frustrations and disillusionment have been erased and I now have a functional device. My only disappointment is that after several months of waiting and waiting for PULSE to arrive, it did not come to me ready to use out-of-the box. Kudos to ALPINE support for reaching out and solving my issue.

Tried to troubleshoot on my own, watching the demo etc. Still doesn't work at all. Terribly disappointed.

Constant problems connecting the app the device. It is not a trustworthy system and I will be going back to the cheap intervolometer I had already which works EVERY TIME!

R70%
by R####:

I just got a notice that the firmware need to be updated and after the update it no longer grabs my camera info (Nikon D7200) and doesn't connect. So this device is now useless. I have tried to delete and resync and have the same issue. I wish I hadn't updated the firmware since it worked without issues before being updated.

R70%
by R####:

Indeed, the connection is really big issue and need to be fixed, if the problem come from the app, pls update ! If from the device, don 't but it.

R70%

App is completely unresponsive. Firmware update constantly stalls. Won't update.

It takes ages to connect pulse. I don't recommend it. Don't waist your money.

Initially had issues with firmware update. Pulse kept telling me it would not go into update mode. Different phone did not work. Changed charging cable that came with it to the one for my phone and it updated immediately. Once the connection was adequate the update issue went away. As far as operation the controls via the phone are intuitive and work as described. Much better and can do a lot more than the standard Nikon remote release.

Major disappointment. The device will not connect to bluetooth, it doesn't pair. The company has shut down over Christmas and New Years so there is no help from them. I've got a Samsung s5 and Canon 60D that I've tried to connect...nada, zilch, zero. Tried to connect to my wife's phone, nothing. Tried to connect to a friend's iphone, zilch. Tried to connect to another friend's ipad, zero! I plan to return this product as soon as they contact me regarding the three emails, two report bugs emails, and my tweets. If they send me a new one I'll revisit this review. As of now....SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! UPDate 5Mar17, Received a new pulse, initially had issues upgrading new firmware. However, all is good at this time. Working as advertised, have only used it a couple of times but I'm finally satisfied that I didn't waste my money. The company could use some dedicated customer service specialists and respond quicker to customer issues.

Super slow to operate the camera. So slow it makes HDR of landscapes inpossible. it is not fast enough for anything worthwile. It is pretty but that's about it... damn thing doesn't work as promised. Takes forever to connect to both my Canon Rebel t4i and 6D, if it does connect. Now I am afraid to even use it and connect the app for fear this new update will brick my already barely functioning device like everyone else... I would stay away from alpine. Historically they have tons of delays and buggy products. I get I am an early adopter but it sucks so bad I still can't find a way to feel good about the device... Lots of complaints, not good alpine.

Alpine Labs was pretty responsive to issues updating the firmware. Just updated the app, which allowed me to update firmware. Still a little buggy, but solid 4 stars for now

not so good, cannot get the phone to recognize the pulse. when it finally connected to the blue tooth there was a firmware upgrade. that crashed, please shut off the pulse and app....never to restart.

Simply does not work as advertised. Have numerous emails with support but Alpine Labs has failed to solve issues. Now device will not update firmware. I'm writing it off to a $100 mistake. Would not recommend this and will not purchase any other products from Alpine

When I first got my Pulse wrong cable was supplied, a short email to support and a the correct cable arrived few days later. Happy to get the correct cable and then the disappointments started. Can't find the camera (nikon d810) tried all the tricks from the support site, watched the videos. It seemes like it can find the camera occasionally, but it's unacceptable that you need to fiddle with it each time you need to use it. Preview of photos didn't work either. Everything is up to date, also updated the firmware on my camera without any luck.

K70%
by K####:

I think this could great ...i have figured out how to the d810 connected ...and how to reconnect if i turn off the camera or it disconnects..you cant really use the thumbnail to check focus and that would be ok if you could use the live view while pulse is connected but i could not...using it to shoot time lapse and intervals is a lot easier with the app and i like that feature..thier support is good and they have really worked hard to help me.

Updated my Pulses firmware and no I can't control my camera... the app finds my pulse but it says no camera conected... the pulse website help page gives no isefull information on how to fix this :/

Another update that fails to address the issue nothing works including technical support, their great at responding without actually solving any problems I'm beginning to suspect they don't know how to fix anything

Don't release an update unless you have tested it. The new update is killing pulses based on reviews here, Facebook comments, and kickstarter comments. Edit: the app and device mostly work now. Photo preview doesn't work anymore.

I was excited about this product when I saw it on the crowd funding website. The products Alpine labs delivered versus the product shown in their promotional videos are two different devices it would seem. The pulse does not perform at all like the pulse showin the video. It constantly disconnects the thumbnails never work the time lapse doesn't work in fact this product is complete rubbish. It's so horrible I am surprised that the employees at Alpine were even willing to release something this bad

H70%
by H####:

This product is so buggy. I have yet to be able to take more than a single shot before it borks itself and diconnects. Also where you plug the usb cable into the pulse doesn't seem very secure. I have sent a couple of emails to them and nothing. I joined on kickstarter and wish that i hadn't just trown away money on this. It has never even come close to working.

Is a refund possible? Doesn't work. Disconnects. Doesn't display thumbnails. Basically is useless.

Same connection problems as several others have reported. It found my Pulse once then lost it next time I turned it on and has never found my camera. Support folks at Alpine Labs have told me there is a software update coming to "address some of the connectivity issues." UPDATE: Received the software update that Alpine promised. No difference. Now they're telling me that I need a firmware update - Catch: The Pulse has to be connected to the app to do the update that fixes the inability to connect. Hilarious! UPDATE: Since I live nearby, the folks at Pulse asked me to come up to see if we could fix things. Connecting now works fine. If you have a Nikon, go into your menu and change your USB connection type. That fixed mine. Unfortunately, we discovered that long exposure isn't supported for my camera; that was the main reason I bought it. I know there are tons of cameras out there but it would be great if they could have a support page where they keep us aware of things that are and aren't supported as they figure them out. Thanks for your help guys!

After the firmware update nothing and I mean nothing works, they (AL) told me to watch a video but I tried everything and still no pulse on a working condition it used to work fine must of the time, the only exception was the thumbnail never working, now nothing works.
