About LinkAlarm - Alarm Clock

[WARNING: This app may change in compatibility when the apps you use, update how they play links themselves. This app can make apps open links as an alarm clock]

LinkAlarm is the unique and all-purpose alarm clock for your phone!

Open links or files by setting alarms, combine them in your own playlists and use the apps on your phone in new creative ways. Use "Share" in your apps to add new content quickly.

LinkAlarm uses the apps on your phone to play links or files. It also comes with the unique YouTube Quickplay feature, that allows you better control over volume, screen-orientation and LinkAlarm-playlists.

The app is a file player and a link player, but it uses the dedicated apps on your phone to open those links. It can work as an app launcher, a youtube alarm clock, a spotify alarm clock, a local music alarm clock, a soundcloud alarmclock , an image slideshow and map/directions alarm. It comes with playlists, snooze feature, countdown timer, and recurring alarms.

Supports (depending on version and ONLY if the apps are installed! Add tracks by using "Share" from the apps -> "Add to LinkAlarm"):

- Youtube
- Spotify
- SoundCloud
- Local music tracks
- Basically everything you have an app for, that's the idea

Use LinkAlarm as an alarmclock, reminder-tool and content-manager, flexibility is by design. Mix and match the different links as you like.

Start the day your way - World Wide Wakeup!

----

pro-tips:

*If no music/sound has been playing at all for 30 seconds after an alarm, and your connection is working, the app will try its 'fallback' song. Remember to set this track on important alarms.
This way you don't have to worry about YouTube, Spotify or SoundCloud not working when you're sleeping.

* If you are using the native YouTube app, Stop automatic screen shutdown when charging, in settings. Or set longer time for screen timeout. Spotify will work with the screen turned off, but not YouTube.

What's Changed
- Trial extended to 5 days
- In the integrated YouTube Quickplayer, videos with ads would never autoplay. If this happens, and the autoplay doesn't fire, LinkAlarm will try another item in your track-list until something fires.
- Remember to use the "Share" feature from INSIDE any app you want to play content from (YouTube, Spotify, SoundCloud, etc).
- Also, please remember that Spotify playlists aren't autoplayed, only individual tracks (use the "share" feature by long-clicking on a track).

Would appreciate an option to set how much time goes by from when the alarm starts to when the volume is maxed out (in the case you selected "gradual volume increase"), so that yoy could set it to 10 seconds or whatever you wanted. Otherwise, thats pretty much a 10/10 alarm app. Oh yeah, and also it seems like it wont start playing anything coming from any source if screen is locked, even if you set the screen lock to "Swipe" (so no PIN nor passwords or anything like that). You can still use it as long as you set you phones lock screen to "None", but that should be fixed. Pls ^^.

When sharing a link from within YouTube, the Link Alarm app reads the YouTube link incorrectly so it won't play.

I tried to use this app with Spotify. It launched the app but didn't play any music

F70%
by F####:

I acknowledge this apps ability to connect to YouTube and Spotify. But it would be very nice if it could connect to sound cloud. Fails to open it everytime

M70%
by M####:

I downloaded this app with the intention of using a Spotify playlist as an alarm. Almost worked, but rather than playing the playlist, it simply opened it (but didn't start playing). 5 stars if fixed.

Don't be deceived by the lower/average ratings. It workd a treat! I get to wake up to my favorite morning music a la "Peer Gynt Suite No.1 Op. 46", "Carnival of the Animals" and "The Flower Duet". You create your own morning music playlist, embedding each Spotify/youtube track link IN THE APP. It won't play playlists already compiled in Spotify or Youtube, which makes sense. All apps should have an interactive user manual nowadays and maybe this one should, but you will be rewarded. Carpe Diem.

The app sometimes works (5%) when opening a movie file. The rest of the time it either opens the wrong file (previously selected) or opens Youtube. Sometimes the file starts, sometimes Youtube starts, sometimes not. I've paid for the app and it's still coming up with trial expired. Not really sure how to handle that one so I''ll be asking for a refund. Good idea, but idea's are 10-a-penny these days.

Is this app supposed to link to spotify?

Z70%
by Z####:

I love the idea of this app, but has a major bug that makes it pretty much useless. The alarm won't start if it's locked. I need to bring up the code screen to listen to the music.

J70%
by J####:

Bad links, won't let you play anything other than music you need a WiFi connection for. And problem with your WiFi or if you snooze and no more alarm.

Doesn't autoplay spotify

Best alarm clock ever. Works great with Spotify

Z70%

Love it!

I just got a notification for an update to this app, which wants developer access to my phone. Why does it need that?

Z70%
by Z####:

Works well, but unless I'm missing a setting it doesn't vibrate during the alarm? Hope this feature could be added sometime if possible. :-)

R70%
by R####:

Worked great for a few days, then had to reinstall since it remained frozen on a black screen. Now after re-install, crashes every time I try to share spotify with link alarm. Help?

Z70%
by Z####:

Shame no app lets you pick a Spotify playlist instead of individual tracks, but this is the next best thing. Great UI, nice and simple. Worth supporting!

M70%
by M####:

It works. However, it's only able to play 1 song in Spotify. Also. If it could be integrated more into android, so that the lock screen says you have set an alarm for xx:xx like other alarm apps, that would be nice.

E70%
by E####:

When the Spotify app is already open, the alarm successfully starts the song I have told it to. If the Spotify app is not running when the alarm goes off, Spotify will open to the song, but will not automatically start playing it. Also, please provide a way to "test run" an alarm. As an alternative, please don't limit countdown alarms to a minimum of 60 seconds before starting.

But the new Spotify update broke it. Any fix on the way?

X70%
by X####:

alarms don't go off when the phone is asleep, which is most of the time, making the app useless

X70%
by X####:

I love the idea and want to use this alarm. But, it makes me nervous to use the app because it won't open Spotify if it can't connect to the internet, but it also crashes whenever I try to select a local file.

X70%
by X####:

Can be a great app it is simple, nice, and work great with spotify but didn't start if the phone is locked so basically is useless waiting for the fix good luck

X70%

Just what I was looking for. Kinda wish I could just make a playlist in the app and then link the playlist URL to LinkAlarm, but I haven't tried yet. Gonna wake up on the right side of the bed tomorrow ha!

X70%

Alarm goes off and my selected Spotify Playlist opens, and then I have to click play?!? Pretty sure that if I'm sleeping I won't be able to press play...

Y70%

But it doesn't launch Spotify if my screen is locked I'll see the alarm notification on when I unlock my screen and then Spotify will Launch. Has Never launched the back up yet either.

Changing my rating. It does appear to start Spotify premium when offline, So the inability to select a fallback file is not critical. Still does not inspire confidence. So desperate to have something to work offline, would gladly have paid for it.

Awesome app but it seems I lost the ability to share youtube videos to my other apps. I have no app defaults set yet when I press the share button LinkAlarm popup shows. Appreciate your assistance, thanks.

N70%
by N####:

To be completely honest, the app could be more user friendly to figure out. I was in the process of leaving a one star review when I finally figured it all out. I would legitimately give this app 4 stars, but I'm selecting 5 to offset all the one star ratings people gave it because they couldn't figure out how to get the Spotify links to work. They do indeed work. Go to Spotify playlist, hold your finger on a song until you can select "Share", then select "Add to LinkAlarm" and select whatever group (e.i. "morning") you want to add it to. Then, if you're like me, you'll want to go through and delete all the tracks that were in that group by default. I tried adding them to my own group but that feature seemed to not work.

N70%
by N####:

Says it will let you use spotify. Hell if I see it. Even paid for it. In response to the developer's response: Any idea how difficult that is to manage? That's a horrible UI. I understand the perspective of trying to get the application to work with basically anything and keeping it open ended. But how ridiculously hard that is to get the URL into the application manually.

I'd love to purchase it and be rid of adds etc ..perks of owning, that jazz. But every time I try to buy the app the store browser off the in-app link causes the app to fail and close. Unfortunately Link Alarm has stopped. Gar.. So... I would like to give you money. But you're like... here are your adds! Thoughts? *Revised* You fixed it! I paid!

L70%
by L####:

Great potential, clunky interface. Powerful but needs help files in the worst way! Ultimately uninstalled, too many problems with videos that won't play, programs that won't launch, lock screen in the way. The other apps and system won't play nice with this one.

N70%
by N####:

Great idea for an app. One problem - when adding tracks from spotify, if you try and add them to a new list as you add them (i.e. creating a new list), it doesn't work at all. Workaround is to create the list in-app, and then add them to the list. 4 stars, if the above bug is fixed, it'll be 5 :)
