About Meter

This Android Experiment is a data-driven live wallpaper. It displays the battery level, wireless signal and number of notifications of your device in a simple visualization. The wallpaper cycles through three visualizations with every unlock, and each can be manipulated by tilting and moving the device. This simple ambient display creates a peripheral awareness of your phone's status over the course of a day.

Original design and concept by Mikkel Koser (http://www.mikkelkoser.com) with code by Jonas Jongejan (http://halfdanj.dk) and Kyle Philips (http://haptic-data.com).

The only thing stopping this from being 5 stars is that something's that have persistent notifications show up as a notification on the wallpaper and is very annoying. I.E. Google weather notification on 7.1 and also Google play music when music is playing. But other than that I love it.

B70%
by B####:

This is a beautiful and minimal wallpaper that is actually useful. In earlier versions I believe they had more options, and you could select which wallpapers you want to use. The battery is most useful, so I wish I could have it always display that. And of you could configure your own color combos that would be amazing. But it's pretty great as is.

P70%
by P####:

It keeps me at 2 notifications. When I don't have any populated. You're attention in the matter is appreciated. Would also love to choose colors.

V70%
by V####:

This gave me more than enough blessings from DuARTe, but there's never enough.

P70%
by P####:

i loved the colors, popping and attractive. The idea about notifications, battery and wifi signal is smart. In conclusion, it is a light cool live wallpaper, and i think it is a really smart and useful way to make good use of having live wallpapers!!

Y70%
by Y####:

It isn't useful, looks ok. I think I would like something like this in black and grey for my Amoled; daydream type stuff

Y70%
by Y####:

Causes crashes on my Phone and Tablet, please Fix!

V70%
by V####:

After 7.0 update, the background is not working correctly. The design hangs the wrong way when you tilt the device. When upright, it hangs to the left, vice versa. Please fix.

H70%
by H####:

Love the idea. Def has something going for it. Just isnt quite right yet. Def need #Muzei support. Would b great. Also settings to choose if u want to use just one,2,or all the options. Needs 2 b updated. Maybe gradient coloring in the background that changes for weather and time of day. Google's experiment team surely can do better. But its All right?

J70%
by J####:

Love the idea of having a "flat, material" background that does not take away from my app layout or is too busy and provides useful information. My only complaint is I wish I could decide on the colors and maybe shapes of each. If that were possible, 5 Stars easy!!!

Z70%
by Z####:

I don't like the new update. Only because I can't choose which wallpaper I want. I only want the signal wallpaper; I don't care for the others. Until I get that back you guys get a two. Also, it would be really cool if we were able to choose the color palette for the wallpaper. That would you guys a strong five. Just saying.

C70%
by C####:

Something changed and do not like it now. Five stars is what I would have given this app prior to losing the option to select which meter (battery/wifi/notifications) is shown. With that option gong, this app is useless 50% of the time by default as I ONLY want the battery meter shown. Bring back the selection of which meter is shown please.

N70%
by N####:

The information for battety and WiFi adore displayed incorrectly. If I have 50% battery it looks as if I have 25% because the diameter of the inner circle is half its original not half of its volume. This is the same for the WiFi signal. Please correct this issue.

L70%
by L####:

It was much better when I didn't have all background types cycling on me. Not sure why the option to choose which ones I wanted were removed. On the subject of choice it would also be grand if I could choose what color each would be and perhaps even which shape.

S70%
by S####:

Battery level is hard to read. Needs to be different color to stand out.new update does not allow to pick battery or data setting . still cannot see wording on screen due to color.

B70%
by B####:

V1.0.1: I don't want the wallpapers to cycle, I just want the battery. Still waiting for smoother animations, colour customisation and maybe you guys could add a different battery animation, like a pillar with 'liquid' in it something like that. V1.00: The animations aren't smooth enough and the lack of customisation bothers me!

F70%
by F####:

Why was this removed? Makes no sense. I don't need to see my network, I just loved the battery meter. Would also be great to let us customize the colours.

Just downloaded few hours before writing this and already love it. Fluid, looks good, works well. Even a fun built in accidental game. Hold the phone upside down and try to get the dot to the middle of the screen (battery level wallpaper, works best on a bed). That being said, could use improvement. Selection of which to use would be nice. For the WiFi, it would be amazing if the triangle was the signal strength, or an option to be, getting more or less filled in as the signal is stronger/weaker.

G70%
by G####:

Was happier when I could use this as a battery meter. Now I'm stuck with a dumb triangle I don't want. Please give back the settings!!

C70%
by C####:

I'd like to have the ability to select just battery again. I know my WiFi will be strong all day, and my notifications make the notifications visualization redundant. Battery was the only very useful visualization to my.

C70%
by C####:

Was way better before, you took away all of the things I liked about it in the first place. Give us back our settings! :-)

G70%
by G####:

I am a Google fanatic so my review is skewed. I totally love it. its on all 4 of my android devices. Will it also work on my chromebook, chromecast and Onhub?

M70%
by M####:

This was great when I used to be able to show only the battery.... Now it's lame and cycles through the other ones I don't want to see at all.

C70%
by C####:

Cycling though backgrounds between apps is just fine with me. However, the notification wallpaper is pointless. It ought to be replaced with storage or current RAM usage. That'd be better.

C70%
by C####:

Give us back the selection screen! I only want the battery meter

C70%
by C####:

I love the battery meter. The WiFi meter seems pointless. Point is, let me select which meter(s) to display.

V70%
by V####:

It needs the mode selector back! The battery text that says the remaining percent should be the same color as the inner ball, it is currently hard to read on dim screens.

C70%
by C####:

Cool wallpaper that badly needs a mode selector. Other stuff like a color palette swapper or something could be cool too.

C70%
by C####:

I used to love this wallpaper when I could choose to show either WiFi, battery, or notifications. Now that it shows all of them and you can't choose anymore, I'm not liking it as much. Give us the choice back....

C70%
by C####:

I would like more customizable options. Like being able to change shapes and colors of each category. The pink drives me crazy at night which is why I would like to be able to switch colors.

F70%
by F####:

It keeps me at 2 notifications. When I don't have any populated. You're attention in the matter is appreciated. Would also love to choose colors.

Q70%
by Q####:

Since the new update I can't select which feature I want. I don't care about the wifi signal and only want the battery. Why did you remove the selection?

C70%
by C####:

I don't want to know WiFi signal strength just battery level, now I can't choose what I want. It was better before this update.

C70%
by C####:

As others have said, please restore the ability to choose 1 data point to display. All I really want to see is signal strength. Amazing concept though!

C70%
by C####:

Change was more than "bug fixes." I updated this lwp not realizing that the update would substantially change the user experience by removing the option to choose which of the three parameters to see onscreen. Six months later, no further updates to restore this option have been made despite user complaints. Although I do appreciate that Google made this wallpaper, and offered it ad free, I am disappointed in their customer service and, particularly, their failure to use the change log appropriately.

C70%
by C####:

Very cool live wallpaper, except that pink battery indicator, it's ugly and more like girly thing, would be nice, if u change that with more neutral color.

C70%
by C####:

Cool app.... I think it would be nice to change the colour and maybe the effects of each setting.... Maybe change the shapes and the way the "liquid" reacts... Plus a way to change between them like a swipe or something..... And more icons... Like processor temperature or ram usage

U70%
by U####:

But why on earth remove the option to select what indicators I want to see?! At least a note in the changelog would have been appropriate.

E70%
by E####:

You took away the option to select which one(s) you want. I don't care about the notifications or the signal, I just like the battery.

C70%
by C####:

After update I can't choose which mode I want? I don't care about notifications or battery life. I just like the network one. Plz fix
