Ustad yahya Waloni memutuskan memeluk agama islam sampai dimusuhi oleh beberapa pendeta dan teman-temanya, beliau rela meninggalkan semua yang dimiliki termasuk limpahan materi yang mudah didapatkan saat menjadi pendeta.
Untuk tetap melanjutkan hidup dan memeluk keyakinannya yang baru sebagai seorang muslim beliau tidak malu menjadi pemulung botol bekas dikawasan jakarta utara sebagai profesi dan pekerjaan baru yang dijalani untuk menafkahi keluarganya, Godaan datang kembali dari kawan lamanya yang akan menjamin kehidupannya normal kembali dari segi materi dengan Catatan kembali ke geraja.
Namun apa yang terjadi beliau dengan tegas dan menolak ajakan tersebut dan berujar walau hidup apa adanya tetapi mendapatkan ketenangan lahir batin setelah memeluk islam, dalam perjalanan spritualnya Ustad Yahya Waloni tidak pernah patah arang dan malu untuk terus belajar memperdalam ke islamannya.
Pernah suatu ketika beliau belajar mengaji di pondok pesantren pimpinan KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar di bandung bahkan aagym sendiri berkata kepada pria kelahiran manado sulawesi utara ini, Pak Yahya apa tidak malu belajar membaca kitab suci alquran bersama dengan anak kecil ? Ustad Yahya Waloni Menjawab lah ko kenapa mesti malu.
Seiring berjalannya waktu ke ilmuan beliau tentang islam terus bertambah dan semakin memantapkan hatinya sampai akhir hanyat tetap sebagai seorang muslim yang taat, Ustad Yahya Waloni sering mendapatkan undangan ceramah ke berbagai daerah indonesia.Untuk seorang muslim termasuk saya ceramah-ceramah beliau ini sangat memotivasi mengingatkan kita untuk tetap berkeyakinan bahwa Tuhan itu Esa Tiada yang patut disembah kecuali allah Swt.
