Sabda, perbuatan, takrir (ketetapan) Nabi Muhammad saw. yang diriwayatkan atau diceritakan oleh sahabat untuk menjelaskan dan menentukan hukum Islam: itu diriwayatkan oleh sahabat Nabi terdekat; 2 sumber ajaran Islam yang kedua setelah Alquran: untuk lebih mendalami Islam, ia sangat tekun membaca Nabi Muhammad saw. di samping menghafal ayat-ayat Alquran; baik hadis hasan; daif hadis yang diragukan kebenarannya karena isinya atau perawinya kurang dapat dipercaya; hadis lemah; fikli perbuatan atau perilaku Nabi Muhammad saw. yang dijadikan tuntunan umat Islam hasan hadis yang meskipun sanadnya lengkap, tetapi memiliki suatu sambungan perawi yanglemah; kauli kata atau sabda Nabi Muhammad saw. yang dijadikan tuntunan umat Islam; marfuk hadis yang mempunyai sanad sampai kepada Nabi Muhammad saw. atau yang tidak bersanad; mursal hadis yang diriwayatkan oleh tabiin dari Nabi Muhammad saw.;
sahih hadis yang benar (dapat ditelusuri dan diandalkan orang-orang yangmeriwayatkannya qudsi hadis yang berisi wahyu yang diterima oleh Nabi Muhammad saw., tetapi dirawikan oleh Nabi dengan kata-kata sendiri; hadis yang berisi firman Allah yang redaksinya diungkapkan oleh Nabi Muhammad saw.

Al-Jami' atau biasa di kenal dengan Kitab Shahih Muslim merupakan kitab (buku) koleksi hadits shahih yang disusun oleh Imam Muslim (nama lengkap: Abul Husain Muslim bin al-Hajjaj al-Naisaburi) yang hidup antara 202 hingga 261 hijriah. Ia merupakan murid dari Imam Bukhari.

Koleksi hadits shahih ini di kalangan muslim Sunni adalah koleksi terbaik kedua setelah Shahih Bukhari. Dari sekitar 300.000 hadits yang ia kumpulkan hanya sekitar 4000 yang telah diteliti selama hidupnya dan dapat diterima keasliannya.

Al-Jami 'or commonly known as Sahih Muslim Book is a book (book) collection of authentic hadith compiled by Imam Muslim (full name: Abul Husain Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Naisaburi) who lived between 202 to 261 Hijra. He was a disciple of Imam Bukhari.
