Surya 20 jaar

Toen we twintig jaar geleden Stichting Surya begonnen,
hadden we niet durven dromen dat we zoveel jaar later nog steeds zouden bestaan. Als
vrijwilligersorganisatie waren we altijd bezig met overleven, vooral in onze radioperiode. Op zoek
naar sponsors, radioprogramma’s maken en altijd investeren in kwaliteit. Altijd proberen jezelf te
verbeteren. Dat was en is nog steeds onze uitdaging.
In die twintig jaar zijn er meer dan honderd vrijwilligers actief geweest op de redactie van Surya. Alle
vrijwilligers hebben zich voor kortere of langere periode, met hart voor de Hindustaanse cultuur en
gemeenschap, ingezet voor Surya. Samen met hen heeft Stichting Surya fantastische radio en
geweldige projecten gerealiseerd. Daar zijn we heel dankbaar voor.
De laatste jaren zijn we vooral actief met het verstrekken van informatie, opinie en cultuur via de
website en social media. Het leek ons gepast om ter ere van twintig jaar Surya dit
e‐book uit te brengen waarin we de ontwikkeling van de Hindustaanse radio in Nederland bespreken.
Daarna blikken we uiteraard terug op twintig jaar Surya. Dit e‐boek is te kort om hier uitvoerig stil te
staan bij alles wat er in die twintig jaar de revue is gepasseerd.
Vandaar enkele hoogtepunten uit al die jaren. When we started Surya Foundation twenty years ago,
we had not dreamed that so many years later we would still exist. As
volunteer organization we were always concerned with survival, especially in our radio period. Looking
to sponsors, making radio programs and always invest in quality. Always try yourself
improve. That was and still is our challenge.
In those twenty years, more than a hundred volunteers, there have been active on the editorial staff of Surya. All
volunteers have for shorter or longer periods, with heart for the Hindustani culture and
community, used for Surya. Along with them is fantastic radio and Surya Foundation
great projects realized. We are very grateful.
In recent years, we are mainly active in the provision of information, opinion and culture through the
website and social media. It seemed appropriate to honor twenty years Surya this
e-book release in which we discuss the development of the Hindustani radio in the Netherlands.
Then we naturally look back on twenty years of Surya. This e-book is too short to detail here silently
stand by everything that the revue has passed in twenty years.
Hence some highlights from all those years.
