About Driving Mode Widget

Note: This works with Galaxy S2, and Galaxy S3. This will likely *not* work with any other devices, you are advised to check with the free version before buying the donate version. On the other hand, please report if it does work with a non S2/S3 phone (chances are that it may also work on some other Samsung devices).

Some Galaxy devices have a feature that can read out name of people who are calling you, or who sends you a message, as it happens. It's called Driving Mode and can be accessed through the settings. This app exposes the setting with a aesthetic widget, so that you can turn it on or off with one touch! Also exposes settings through an intent, therefore you can use third party apps like Llama or Tasker to control this.

Product features -
• 1. Economic in space - smaller than VLingo driving widget, which takes up 1x3 blocks.
• 2. As you remove the last instance of the widget, the background service automatically unloads. Does not use up RAM unnecessarily if you don't plan to use it, even if you keep it installed.
• 3. Automatically turns on/off as you connect/disconnect a bluetooth device! (Donate only)
• 4. Does not depend on VLingo Voice Commands, if you uninstall it you can still use this.
• 5. Exposes settings through an intent, therefore you can use third party apps like Llama or Tasker to control this.

It appears there are already more info on this in some review sites the Internet, e.g. here - http://www.xda-developers.com/android/samsung-galaxy-s-ii-gets-driving-mode-widget/
Or here - http://www.redmondpie.com/driving-mode-widget-for-galaxy-s-ii-enable-disable-driving-mode-with-a-single-tap/

Donate version: I will work on an in-app donation which will enable to help to support development. There will be no ads in either version.

What are users saying about Driving Mode Widget

I continually get a message flashing up on the screen saying "Driving mode service started." Very annoying so now uninstalled.

D70%
by D####:

It very good app but cant say the name just numbers

D70%
by D####:

Keep getting error on the screen when its not even on deleting.

D70%

So far it works great on the S4 Mini but it needs a better widget. It's just a tiny green spot...

C70%
by C####:

Only if I could access the auto on/off if connected to Bluetooth. Says only for donations, but can't find where of how to donate. Duh.

S70%
by S####:

Still works great on the VZW, and presumably all, Galaxy S4 phones.

L70%
by L####:

Is it an app or a shortcut?

D70%
by D####:

Great app but any chance of a nice on off widget

C70%
by C####:

The widget does one thing: toggles driving mode on and off. It doesn't control the individual driving mode options; I can set them independently and they'll be remembered. This widget is exactly what I need: it does one simple thing and does it well. I would suggest that the developer changes the built-in icon, or includes an option for the user to select an alternate icon. A green dot isn't always very visible in all conditions, so something a bit more obvious would be useful. As a previous reviewer has noted, completely different colours for off and on would also be better than dark green/bright green.

C70%
by C####:

Works great to toggle driving mode on/off from the headphone plugged in page. Why doesn't the icon look like a car or steering wheel? The green dot is not very descriptive. Five stars if icon were better.

C70%

I think this works only for Samsung phones with Driving Mode.

Whether it's on or off, keeps causing a pop-up that says, "com.arnab.drivingmode: Service started". This makes my Galaxy S3 Mini lag & is VERY annoying. It's a great idea, & a widget I'd GLADLY PAY FOR - if it WORKED PROPERLY. Sadly, the developer fails to respond to emails (even from paying customers - see other reviews), so I'm uninstalling. :( Such a pity...

excellent app! I love the unobtrusive green dot! still trying to figure out how to get it to read the entire SMS, i believe it's a phone thing tho n not the app.

Works well on galaxy note 2. Would like auto in with BT but cant find donate version. Also if possible add auto turn on mobile data as this is required to voice control outgoing calls and texts.

This widget is completely and utterly useless in real life the tiny little dot that you must try to find on your screen makes it even less useful than doing the drop down menu. Unable to automated at all completely pointless waste of time developed waste of time downloaded...start over

This app will turn on the Bluetooth in your car and read your notifications,HOWEVER since the voice does not come through the built in car speakers it is almost impossible to hear what is being read to you when you are in the car because the voice comes through the speakers on the phone and that is not loud enough to hear what is being read. The communication with the app developer is the worse!!! I have emailed them on several occasions explaining that this app does not effectively do what it is portrayed to do and that I would like someone to communicate with me since I have paid for the "Donated" version. As of today there has been no response from this developer which is very sad. I would strongly suggest you do not waste your money on purchasing the "donated" version as it is a useless app in your car!! To the developer of this app: It is very sad when consumers spend their money to purchase an app that does not do the job effective and then you display very little interest in communicating with your clients . VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Does nothing on its own, simply acts as a semi-shortcut to take you to the text-to-voice menu, where you can switch drive mode. mode. The net result is you can access the drive mode menu in 2 taps instead of four, big deal. The app itself has no switching capability at all, unlike many dozens of other apps I use and depend on. Two stars is generous....UPDATE - had to change it to one star, there's a drive mode switch already on the notification bar! This does less than what is already on the OS. Amazing.

This app does what it says, works great with Llama too. One suggestion: green is off, bright green is on. I would suggest using red for off or something more easily recognized for off. And perhaps something in the notification (or at least an option) to let us know that it's on.

M70%
by M####:

Thank you for creating this app!! I totally agree with David perhaps something in the notification (or at least an option - check box option) to let us know that it's on. Hope the donate version will be available SOON. I'd love the bluetooth feature.

C70%

Had it up and running in no time using 'send intent' with Tasker, just as instructed (open app from app drawer). No widget necessary - nice!

R70%
by R####:

Love this app only thing I don't really like about it is it would be much better if the dot changed colour for on and off eg red is off and Green is on it would be so much easier to see instead of bright green for on and pale green for off if it was a different colour it would be fantastic and then I would give it a 5 star rating

Driving mode widget is handy, but won't read out if headphones are plugged in. Very annoying as I use my headphones as hands free kit

R70%

It was working fine on N2 b4 the N2 auto updates. Now I can't find the on-off switch that used to be there. There's no way to activate it in my N2 now.

R70%
by R####:

This works fine on the S4 - Please be advised that the widget is just a tiny dot. At first I thought nothing was there. Now I just need to figure out how to automate this using Tasker or some other app!

N70%
by N####:

Seems to do the job nicely, however, the choice of a tiny green dot as the toggle icon in the widget is not very good. A pair of standard sized icons would be a much better choice. Plus there's no way to contact the developer from the app. (hopefully this will be read)

...to get the full version. Using a Galaxy SIII. Cannot select the checkbox to turn on the "automatic on when bluetooth..." Would be 4 or 5 stars if this would work

Works great but now obsolete with android 4.3+ since it is now a standard available button.

This app rocks! It reads out almost every notification possible! Really helps when you're driving. And the one touch on/off makes it simple to use. Good job!!!

Works fine on Samsung galaxy note II. The widget is like a very small radio button, needs improvement.

R70%

Does just what I want with Tasker on my S3

O70%

It works perfectly with my new Samsung Galaxy Golden (i9235), and combined with the Tasker app, I now have a phone that will automatically switch on Driving Mode and adjust all volumes to my preferences as soon as I turn on my Bluetooth headset.

R70%

This is "Just a shortcut" to the Driving mode setting page..So it only saves few clicks..The app i was looking for is to to turn the driving mode on/off with a single touch on my home screen icon. It fails to do that.

H70%

Works with llama. I do agree the widget icon should be red/green not green/bright green Make more apps!

I can not find the donate version to get all the features I am looking for.
