This is the FREE version of the most popular vessel tracking app, providing real-time data on the positions and movements of vessels, utilising a large network of terrestrial AIS receivers. VesselFinder Free aims to reveal the comprehensive picture of the global AIS coverage that VesselFinder Pro will provide.
VesselFinder Free features include:
- Real time positions of over 100,000 ships every day
- Ship details - name, flag, type, IMO, MMSI, destination, ETA, draught, course, speed, gross tonnage, year of built, size
- Ship movement history - follow the track of each vessel for the past 24 hours
- Simple and Detailed map type

Visibility of vessels in the App depends on AIS signal availability. If a particular vessel is out of our AIS coverage zone, VesselFinder displays her last reported position and updates it as soon as the vessel comes into range. Tried this free app for a day. Then I downloaded the paid "pro" version. Both the free and the paid version seem to give the most accurate data here in the South of France /Corsica when compared with other apps.

As the app is free, so features mentioned in the introduction aren't available. Its a waste of time by downloading this app. Once you enter your ship name or Imo no only the ship details like destination, flag state only will be available. Other than that no extra features are provided as its asking us to buy pro version.

It worked once on install then never again, simply either doesn't register any ships on the map or the information is so far behind time that it renders the app useless to me.

Can't use the search function without upgrading to 'pro'. How do you expect users to get it properly if you don't give them a chance to use functions?

Very useful to find out if it's worth rushing to catch the Mersey ferry or if it's skulking round on the other side waiting for a tanker to go past. A lot of people complaining that it's not as comprehensive as the website but so what? You can use the website if you're bothered or pay for the premium app. This is a very speedy way of checking what the hell that is in the water rather than getting its life history. Good job.
