What are users saying about AT&T Visual Voicemail

How lame, you have to have this feature included in your plan to use this app. It's very mediocre of them, bad business practice.

Q70%
by Q####:

Except that it constantly notifies me of the original, welcome to visual voice mail message. Every few hrs and at every start up there is the stupid notification.

Q70%
by Q####:

Don't know why, but some messages get picked up by visual voicemail and some don't. That means that I still have to periodically check regular voicemail to ensure I don't miss messages. Very annoying and something that never ever happened on Brand 'A'

Q70%
by Q####:

Cant hear voicemails, lost deals bc of missed details left on vm. More than frustrating and unacceptable to say the least. Steer clear of app and AT&T giant

Q70%
by Q####:

I like the transcribing of voice messages. It allows me to get the gist of the message without listening to it. What I miss is being able to mass delete messages. In this version you have to pop open each message to delete. Previously, on the top menu you could select delete, and boxes would appear next to each voicemail for you to choose which ones to delete. Please bring that feature back.

by G####:

It doesn't work as it's supposed to. The notifications just keep staying in my bar even after I have listened and deleted the messages. I swipe the notification bar off and then it returns back to say I have a voice mail when I do not have any voicemails and have deleted them.

B70%
by B####:

Got it working. I had to call ATT several times and finally found the rep that successfully fixed my account settings. I had to delete the app and reinstall, then BOOM. It's OK here

Q70%
by Q####:

Simply not able to set up. Called at&t and their tech support was just as useless as their app. Suggested I use Google voice instead!

O70%
by O####:

Worked great for years. New updated design isn't pretty - it's ugly and buttons are too small. Also went from 48 hours per charge to 20 hours since the update - seems to keep phone awake. Doze no longer works properly since this update.

Q70%
by Q####:

It's great for rewinding and navigating the voicemail. But when it comes to showing it in text it gets a 0/5 stars. Other then the demo voicemail all my voicemails show the error "voicemail could not be processed to text". The selling point of the app for me is showing voicemails in text. Since it seems it can't do that I'm removing the app and will try again down the road

Q70%
by Q####:

For an app that is supposed to make it easier to get your voice mail, it fails miserably. App almost never notifies me of new messages, instead the system does, which launches the dialer to call in and get your messages. You have to cancel out of that, launch this program, refresh the message list, and then you can get your messages. Also, the text translation is horrible.

Q70%
by Q####:

The app does what it says but that's it. Anytime a message is in your inbox, whether old or new, the app constantly notifies you. Old design with infrequent updates and the volume is frequently inaudible.l

D70%

Used to be able to receive my voicemails over WiFi, but now even if I refresh, I still have to cut WiFi off.. Has improved since it first was released though.

Q70%
by Q####:

The worst thing I've put on my phone. Playback, even on speaker, can barely be heard even in a quiet room with the phone next to my ear and volume all the way up. There is no way to playback any important info, such as when the call actually came in. Since my AT&T service is spotty at best, with lots of dropped/missed calls and super-delayed messages, I need to be able to HEAR the message and locate the time it came in, just as I do with the plain ole' phone system on my phone which works much better.

Q70%
by Q####:

Always need to go to the menu to refresh message list. Why you cannot implement a pull to refresh? Also always stops after the messages got played 1-2 seconds, need to play again to listen to the whole message.

P70%
by P####:

Many of my apps (LinkedIn, text, WhatsApp) show on the icon how many messages I haven't reviewed. It would be most helpful if this app did the same.

Q70%
by Q####:

Implied that it is readable. My AT&T Paygo isn't demonstrating that. WTF? More AT&T bloatware on my emergency phone. Alcatel Rep: root it. →↓∅

Q70%
by Q####:

Everytime I reboot, I get a notification that I have a welcome to AT&T visual voicemail voicemail, even though I deleted it. It would be more helpful if they just enabled the native VVM support in Android 6.0+ instead of requiring a separate app.

Finally this works on non AT&T devices now. Before this didn't work at all which wasn't fun filtering out spam, but now it makes it very easy. Great update.

by M####:

Can't get Google voice to work though so stuck with this.

Q70%
by Q####:

I have a redmi note 3 which does not have built in visual voicemail. I tried using this app instead. It performs everything fine except for notifications. I do not receive notifications from this app. I must check this app and refresh it manually to see if I have voice mail. It should notify me.

O70%
by O####:

11/16/16 HOLY CRAP THIS APP IS CRAP! FREEZES/CRASHES WHEN DELETING VOICEMAIL. STILL DOES NOT NOTIFY WHEN MAILBOX IS FULL.

Q70%
by Q####:

Some messages stay in voicemail. I have to call the voicemail. After I do, the messages appear in visual voicemail. Very odd.

Q70%
by Q####:

This has never worked on my Galaxy S5, despite 3 lengthy calls with AT&T tech support. Finally, it gets messages, but hours after callers leave them. It's worse than not having it.

Q70%
by Q####:

Helps a lot! Been getting scam & sales ad calls from all over the country after being online on my phone & whatever site I clicked got my # on a call list... no idea which or how. Lets me pre-screen & save to report scam calls like the fake "call here or cops will be after you" type messages. Also I can easily replay any message without going thru hoops or listening to all again to get back to it. With saved ones it's easy to pick which one I need to deal with.

B70%
by B####:

It has no smart touch recognition, so when you hold the phone to your face to hear the VM it will pause, or delete your VM... And with no recourse to find delete msgs. Pretty useless

Q70%
by Q####:

Cannot understand what they are saying.

Q70%
by Q####:

Buttons are too small. No mass delete. Major step in the wrong direction. The thing will just quit playing messages. Nothing is touching the screen.

Q70%
by Q####:

Newest version of this is at least usable, however the large buttons on the early versions were much better. Also translation to text not working for me and that's one of my favorite features since I'm hearing impaired. Why change the best features of your app? At least this one I can usually get the message to play the first time I touch the little mini play button. Just put the big buttons back and make it show text translation

Q70%
by Q####:

It works but playing VMs with Bluetooth leaves Bluetooth audio in call mode as if you are still on a phone call. This forces you to make a phone call and hang up just so you can get your phone out of hands free call mode and get Bluetooth A2DP stereo audio to work correctly. If you don't do this the audio is set to monaural audio and sounds crappy unless you make a call or reboot to reset the Bluetooth status. Very annoying and buggy!

Q70%
by Q####:

The design is intuitive enough but there is a bug which is extremely frustrating. When I press play, the message starts to play but when I put the phone to my ear to listen to it, it stops playing. I have to repeat this process several times to get through a message. Please fix this AT&T. I have a Samsung S7.

Q70%
by Q####:

Good if you want a visual display of everything that's in your voicemail box and the ability to tap on them in any order and play them back. However the app does not transcribe voicemails as it claims. Nor does it produce any special visual or audio notice that you have voicemail waiting. It's really no better than the phone's own inadequate voicemail icon!

Q70%
by Q####:

Useless. Nothing visual about it. If I wanted to listen to my voicemail I would just call my voicemail. AT&T never reads reviews, listens, or responds to customers. Shows exactly what AT&T thinks about there customers and how much they don't give a crap, as long as the $ keeps coming in.

"This new updated fix" has not resolved audio speaker going dead after using visual voicemail. Still having to reboot each time i listen to a message to get speaker working. Old version was far more superior to this. Small buttons poor visual. Speaker volume drops to 0 after listening to a message and you cannot volume up until the phone is rebooted. Bring back the older edition.

V70%
by V####:

Pros: - Displays voicemail messages as a list. Cons: - No way to adjust the volume, so it's impossible to listen to messages without others around me being able to hear - Doesn't notify me immediately when I have a new voicemail. Usually I get a notification from the phone itself first, which when I click on takes me to dialing voicemail the old fashioned way, rather than through the app - Often gives me the same notification over and over, even after I have listened to the message

B70%

This Apps programmer an d customer service are just awful.. I'm having low touch audio after using this app and listening to messages.. only restarting phone or disabling the app gets the audio back. This is an ongoing issue.

Q70%
by Q####:

App is not bad. Recent updates to the UI are welcome improvements. That said there is one glaring issue that is driving me nuts. When you receive a new VM, the only way for to be marked as viewed/listened to, is to play the whole thing. The app dictates VMs to text so often I don't need to listen to the VM yet I have to play it just to get the notification to go away. AND you have to play the WHOLE thing, not just a few seconds. So then I find myself dragging the "scrubber" to the end of the VM so that last couple seconds play and it gets marked as viewed. I can delete the VMs but sometimes I don't want to so that I can reference the VM later. Fix this please!

Q70%
by Q####:

If I hadn't had the sprint version, I would have given this 5 stars... Sprint includes transcription so you can read voice mail instead of just listening... Nice when return call has to go to a different number.

Q70%
by Q####:

I'm frustrated I can't see any indication on the front of the app icon that I have a message. I can't get used to viewing the notification area. Can u fix this and place a number or some signal of a message on the front of the app.

It worked great for the longest time but a recent update screwed it up so it won't retrieve my messages unless I refresh it. Please put it back the way it was.
