RTSC 2017 Conference

About the Conference:
Making a Difference is RTSC’s annual statewide conference that presents a range of topics related to the education and support of students eligible for Special Education Surrogate Parents (SESPs). SESPs are special education decision makers for students in the custody of the Department of Children and Families (DCF). This conference provides a unique opportunity for SESPs to learn and network with each other, child welfare professionals, and RTSC staff and others. It also provides an opportunity for us to acknowledge and show appreciation for the support they provide. The 2017 conference will be held on November 14th at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, Marlborough.

The theme for the 2017 conference is A Community Approach to Trauma Sensitivity and will include a wide range of topics including trauma based assessments and goals, trauma sensitive school approaches, ESSA updates, and much more. We are thrilled to incorporate a RTSC Conference App that provides an interactive way to easily navigate through the day.


RTSC is a unique program, which currently serves approximately 900 students at any given time throughout the state. Your support of the annual conference and our recruitment effort is a unique opportunity to help these students who are some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
