«Μπορεί το φτερούγισμα μιας πεταλούδας στη Νέα Υόρκη να προκαλέσει τυφώνα στο Πεκίνο;» Με τον ίδιο τρόπο με τον οποίο ο Ταμπούκι σε μια από τις «Τρεις ασήμαντες ιστορίες χωρίς συμπέρασμα» αποτέλεσε από το 2009 εμμονή κι επαληθεύεται καθημερινά στη ζωή. Σε σημείο που να δημιουργήσει το fractal χρόνια μετά. Όπου χρόνος και χώρος, επιστήμες και τέχνες, αλληλεπιδρούν, καθορίζουν και ετεροκαθορίζονται, μεταμορφώνονται το ένα στο άλλο, γίνονται άλλο, εξάλλου όλα σε σχέση δεν είναι σ’ αυτή τη ζωή;«Όλα σε σχέση», σκεφτήκαμε και έγινε fractal.
Στην αρχή είχαμε μια επιθυμία, το ελάχιστο να ανήκει στο όλον. Και ένα όνομα. Στη συνέχεια, ο ένας «κολλούσε» τον άλλον. Ο Τάκης μας έδωσε το σταθερό ιστορικό πλαίσιο. Ο Γιάννης το μουσικό τέμπο. Ο άλλος Γιάννης, θα έδινε πρόσωπο στο απρόσωπο. Η Πέρσα θα ενώσει κουλτούρες. Ο Γιάννης μια εσάνς από rue des blancs manteaux. Η Δανάη, παρότι η μικρότερη ξεκινούσε από τις αρχές του είδους. Η Αγγελική με τα αρχαιολογικά της θ’ αναλάμβανε τη συνέχεια. Ο Διονύσης, θα ενώσει ποίηση, μαθηματικά και τέχνη. Ο Αλέξανδρος, μια υπόσχεση για την τεχνολογική εξέλιξη… κι όποτε ο ένας σκόνταφτε, σηκωνόταν ο άλλος. Οι δυο Γιάννηδες υπήρξαν και πράξη μαζί αλλά και υπόσχεση.
Ένα fractal μαζί σας κι εμείς υπό διαμόρφωση. Και για να το ορίσουμε κάπως, ένα κατ’ αρχάς διαδικτυακό περιοδικό όπου συνυπάρχουμε δημοσιογράφοι, καλλιτέχνες, δημιουργοί, επιστήμονες και πανεπιστημιακοί, παλιοί και καινούργιοι, γνωστοί και άγνωστοι φίλοι. Παραμένοντας ανοιχτοί όπως μόνο ένα παιδί, ενδεχομένως, στο ενδεχόμενο.
Το ζητούμενο, εκείνο το άρρητο και το άδηλο που συνενώνει τα πάντα: την ιστορία με την καθημερινότητα, την λογοτεχνία με τα μαθηματικά, τη χημεία με την ποίηση, την αρχιτεκτονική με τη μουσική, εμάς με εσάς. Σαν ένα fractal που συνεχίζεται από την γέννηση έως το άπειρο, ένα ανοιχτό πείραμα- αίνιγμα όπως ακριβώς είναι και παραμένει η ζωή.

Το νέο ψηφιακό περιοδικό fractal γεννήθηκε από τις επιτακτικές ανάγκες μιας καθ” όλα εθελοντικής ομάδας συμπολιτών, απαλλαγμένης από κάθε υλική σκοπιμότητα, για περιγραφή και κατανόηση χαοτικών καταστάσεων που μας περιβάλλουν, μέσω των νέων διαδικτυακών μορφών έκφρασης και επικοινωνίας που σφραγίζουν τις μέρες μας. Καθώς η ελληνική κοινωνία αλλάζει ραγδαία, με ορατές ή όχι διαδρομές, στους βασικούς στόχους του είναι να συμβάλει, με διάφορους τρόπους, στη σύλληψη των νέων πραγματικοτήτων, τόσο με στοχασμούς και αναστοχασμούς για το χθες, όσο και με διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις για το σήμερα. Από την ιστορία ως τη λογοτεχνία και από την τέχνη ως την επιστήμη.
Με την έννοια αυτή, και ως προς το περιεχόμενό του, φιλοδοξεί να καταστεί ένα πολιτισμικό πολυ-περιοδικό, που δεν κατατάσσεται σε κάποια κλασική θεματολογική κατηγορία.
Η λέξη fractal είναι δάνειο από την ομώνυμη θεωρία και τα γοητευτικά γεωμετρικά αντικείμενα, που χρησιμοποιούνται πια σχεδόν παντού. Προσφέρεται κατεξοχήν για την «ταυτότητα» του εγχειρήματος.
Τα fractal, ως μια γενίκευση των ευκλείδειων γεωμετρικών σχημάτων, έκαναν δυνατή την περιγραφή πολύπλοκων δομών. Το κυριότερο, όμως, είναι η βασική τους ιδιότητα, γνωστή ως αυτο-ομοιότητα. Δηλαδή, μια βασική δομή παραμένει η ίδια σε κάθε κλίμακα (από το πολύ μικρό ως το μεγάλο)· όπως οι ρώσικες κούκλες ματριούσκι...

The new digital magazine fractal born of the urgent needs during an "all volunteer group of citizens, free from any physical feasibility, for a description and understanding of chaotic situations that surround us through the new online forms of expression and communication seal today.
