About Hue Pro

Hue Pro is a new way to use your Philips Hue lighting system. It provides all the features of the native Philips Hue Android application, such as lighting presets. But it can also be used for scheduling events with alarms and timers. By scheduling an event you can set light presets to come on (or off) at a specific time in the future!

Hue Pro is designed to make using your Hue lighting system much easier and more convenient. With Hue Pro's Wifi Detection, you can have your lights turn on to a preset of your choice as you walk in your home's door! Or turn off as you leave! (These features have been moved to a separate app called Hue Pro Tasker. Check it out!)

With Hue Pro, you can even control your lights away from home! (Forwarding port 80 on your router to the bridge) Documentation on how to do this is inside the application!

Hue Pro Lava Lamp! Turn your room into a live lava lamp! Take full control of your Hue lighting system with everything at your finger tips.

Music mode! Have Hue Pro listen to your music through your microphone and change the lights to the beat!

NEW: Animated Presets! Create awesome looking progressive presets that change color how you decide!

** Lava lamp and Music mode are no longer an in-app purchase if purchased on or after December 19, 2016. They are now free :) **

Would be great if this managed other devices like the dimmer switch. Otherwise, it works just as advertised and Benjamin is very helpful with inquiries!

I only have white bulbs so not needed to do anything too clever but there is still a good colour range even with these. I tried so many apps before this. They were all very glitchy and took ages to navigate. This one seems very reliable, quick and easy and the widgets are great. They have disappeared a couple of times from my desktop but are very quick to set up again. Excellent!

SO much better than the original Philips Hue app! Just one thing: Why can't I use the animated presets as an alarm? I would like to use a sunrise animation to wake me up every morning. At the moment I'm using tasker to trigger the preset at the specific time, but it would be a little more convenient, to have this option within the app. In any case: thanks so much for making the "Hue experience" even greater!

This is an excellent app, and one of only two that I've given a full 5 stars to in all the years I've been using Android apps. The GUI is probably one of the simplest and well-thought out that I've come across, and the response of the Hue lights is almost immediate. If it would talk to IFTTT (please?) and/or could be integrated into SmartThings, I'd give it another star and gladly send the developer some more coin. :)

Great app - easier to use and more powerful than the branded one. The only issue I have, when creating a custom widget for presets, is that the presets I choose for the widget affect all the lights. In the branded app I can choose which group receives the preset from a widget. Would it be possible to allow custom widgets to be set to individual groups? That would definitely rate 5 stars! Edit: After a very quick response from the dev - and actually watching the video on how to use the app! - my previous review would appear to be in error. Now set to five stars!

Color has been proven to effect mood, so why not take full advantage of this simple but amazing ability? Hue allows you to create mood and magic with an easily mastered art of LIGHT CUSTOMIZATION! Need energy? Select red and orange hues. Feeling down? Put on some pinks and yellows. Feeling anxious? Change your settings to hues of blue. Cozy night in with a movie? My favorite to comliment TV watching are deep purples, greens, and indigo. Here are some of my favorite formulas. Concentration: bright light blue Peaceful: Dimmed yellow-orange Tranquil: Dark royal blue and purple Happy: Aqua blue, light yellow, medium magenta Energy: Bold yellow and red Sleep: Dim dark teal

This app picks up where Phillips drops off. Nothing short of 5 stars, however, I do wish presets wouldn't trigger with just a tap... tap and hold would be ideal, especially when configuring presets. I'd love to award this 5 stars but the single tap activation of presets and lack of accessory supports both need to be addressed. Otherwise, very good applications. Recommended.

It gives precise control over individual bulbs, has an intuitive, easy to use interface, and the widget is useful for instant control. Scheduling is easy to use, and the wifi-detect option is great in order to have your lights greet you when you come home. Lava Lamp and music sync features are nice touches (though it would be nice to have them available in a widget). Edit 1/2017: The best Hue app is still getting better. Lava Lamp and sync are now widgets. The animated presets are one step beyond the lava lamp, letting you set exactly what color changes you want in what order. And to top it off, the developer is top notch, going out of his way to support old discontinued versions.

This app is way better than the stock Philips Hue app. You have way more control over your Hue lights. The UI isn't bad, but it could be better. Overall great app. It's disappointing that the app does not allow animated presets to be used for schedules. They say it runs from devices not the bridge. They require another paid app Hue Pro Tasker to Google animated presets.

I loved this as soon as i installed it, but soon, problems started occurring. Individual bulbs would randomly come on in the middle of the night. Bulbs would be deleted from rooms randomly. Dim blue room presets would suddenly have one bright red bulb. External access requires port forwarding. Uninstalled.

Great app, well worth the purchase to get the most of your lighting system. Animated presets are a hit! One must have feature I'd like to have: Alexa and/or Harmony support. Home automation is all the rage right now, and the Phillips hue app is too limited!

Really really cool. I'm still in the process of setting everything up and learning how to get it to do what I want it to do. Once I can figure out how to sync the lights to a movie and music as well with all kinds of other things. It's all so exciting though!

Switched from iOS and needed a new app for my lights. You guys are spoiled. This app is fantastic. Was super easy to migrate thanks to its ability to pull data off the bridge. Wish I could choose icons for the widget instead of labels.

This is a great app with so many features. I did run into a small problem with getting the away from home feature to work (my router was to blame). I sent an email to the developer asking for help. He emailed me back within 5 minutes! The one thing I would like to see is a geofence option in the tasker. If you're new to hue & trying to decide which app to get, look no further. Download it, you won't be disappointed.

I rarely pay for apps, but between controlling the color of whole rooms, easy presets, and an excellent widget, I can honestly say this was $2 very well spent, and makes me love my Hue lights all the more. Not to mentions the easiness of animated presets, schedules, and changing to music.

Y70%
by Y####:

super mediocre replacement for hue app. the animations are fun but light control remains too complicated. not worth $1. tasker app requires even more $$ for functionality built into original hue app. this developer is skeevy. *edit* turns out this app is worse than original app. even if you select a specific group, choosing presets sets ALL lights to that preset. you have to save unique presets for ~every~ group. wtf.

Great UI, easy profiles. Functional, customizable widgets. Light control without wifi. Animated profiles. Disco and lavalamp feature. This app has it all! Only thing I miss is a persistent notification to control my lights in the notification center.

I know this app does not cost very much but it is a piece of crap you would think it would work with its own equipment but it disconnects from the bridge every time you always have to connect and then it just gives you a connection timed out error 50 times before it finally connects. The lava lamp feature is also a piece of crap you have to turn that on and off about 50 times before that works and then it doesn't even work correctly this is a sad sad waste of time. Hopefully there will be an update that fixes it and makes it a decent usable app

Really don't like the way schedules can only call on presets. The native Philips Hue app lets you individually control bulbs with schedules which is much simpler and faster. Wasted too much time trying to get schedules to work on this app and missed the refund period. If you want more complicated scheduling this is not the app for you.

This is what the official app should be. Full of functionality. Light (eh) on looks. Regular updates! Downsides are that it doesn't work with switches and doesn't connect remotely out of the box.

T70%
by T####:

It's an okay app. My biggest problem is that when I apply presets to groups, the presets apply to all of the bulbs. EDIT: I figured it out. My bad. Thanks. I changed the rating to 5 star!

T70%
by T####:

The lava / music functionality does not work for me unless my phone is unlocked and I am in the app. This is hugely unhelpful. Also, I can't understand why you have limited the lava functionality to 'sequential' or 'random'. Surely you'd want the transitions to be simultaneous for best effect. A transition time of 1s is also ridiculously fast if you are trying to reproduce the effect of a lava lamp?

B70%
by B####:

Great app, getting used to setup and how I feel it's I tended to be used with quick preset saving and recall, along with custom animation with lots of flexibility. Only thing I could see improved would be to make it possible to arrange bulbs differently as now they appear in presets and settings in the order in which they were added, not the groups that they may be in now. Almost want to start over just to get the bulbs added in the logical pattern they are now in to make other custom presets easier to understand.

Freaking awesome! I've tried a lot of apps to control and automate my lights. A combination of this one and Tasker (the original, not hue tasker), makes my apartment feel like it's in the future. It's a must have!

An amazing app, with far more functionality and features than the standard Hue app. However, it stopped working and or freezes running on Android 7.0/LG G6. It also won't allow me to fully reset user data; the same presets show up and no longer have any effect. Will update review once the bugs are fixed.

I bought 2 starter packs because i need 6 lights, I can only get 3 bulbs running off 1 hub, can i join the other 3 off the same hub or are they linked to the hub in the box? Please help me i can only access half my lights, even with both hubs plugged in. Ive already tried "add extra lights" but they can't be found. All lights work together by the flick of one normal light switch on the house wall, so they are all linked together. Please help me run all off one hub and i will give 5 stars. Thanks

Easy to use . Well designed ,set up your own presets , rooms works great way better than Phillips app . Also if you have a problem they get right back to you and solve it !

Hue has a standard API to communicate with the bridge in the "safer" way than port forwarding. Would you please add that into the app? It requires logging in with the hue account information and it takes care of the rest. It's way more secure than the introduced method. I'll change my rating as soon as I get this feature.

Super smooth interface and the developer is constantly pushing fixes and features. All of my stars for you.

T70%

It has a lot of flexibility in terms of creating presets, but that's about it. I was really surprised that it's not even possible to edit hue accessories such as dimmer switches. If the app is updated with this, and other standard functionality from the proper hue app, then I'll update my rating to reflect it.

This app will allow you to easily control your Hue bulbs. It also gives power users tasker abilities to literally program the bulbs to do anything your heart desires.

Great app. The only Hue application I use every single day, and it has become an absolutely vital part of my apartment. Supreme developer as well. Helped me out in no time the single time I bumped into an issue.

Wi-Fi detection stopped working after upgrading to Nougat. Worked fine up until then. This needs to be fixed.

X70%

This is the only competent tool for controlling hue lights with accuracy. After several weeks it's the only app I use for Hue lights. Lock screen controls and a better use of screen space in the colour picker would make this a five star app.

Excellent app. Takes a little getting used to, but the email support more than makes up for that.

P70%

Much more useful than the stock app, so far runs flawlessly. Surprised by the custom widget which is very convenient(it's my only widget, not usually a fan). Add voice support in the tasker app, and I'll buy that too! Thanks

T70%

A lot better than the official app. The preset builder needs some work, doesn't always follow instructions, but overall it's really easy to use, and super customizable.

Exceeded my expectations. Now I can create different movie modes to set the atmosphere, lights and lamps dimmed and hue strip changed to deep red for horror mode at the touch of a home screen widget. Thank you

Overnight all my preset bulbs in groups have changed in my groups. I had to reprogram the groups. The next day they were all screwed up again. No updates to Android or any app on my phone.
