About Gluten Free Food Finder

THIS APP IS COMPLETELY FREE, FULLY FUNCTIONAL, AND WITHOUT ADS.

This is the only Gluten Free Scanner app that puts users in control of the data. All the data in this app is community sourced. You are in control! If you disagree with the result of a scan, you have the power to change it. If you are the first person to scan an item, please answer a question or two about it. Other gluten free users will thank you for helping to make the data more accurate.

There are hundreds of ingredients that contain gluten, and not all of them are obvious. With this app, you simply scan the barcode and see instantly if a food contains gluten!

Features:

- Barcode scanner
- Easy to read "yes" or "no" result.
- The ability to update a result by disagreeing with it
- And pictures of monkeys (obviously)
- That's it! Super easy.

Enjoy! :-)

My son was diagnosed with celiac disease and we thought this app was helpful at first but discovered it's not very accurate. It does not seem to account for cross contaminated foods. I've found that many products come up gluten free but are in fact labeled with cross contamination warnings. This app is dangerous for people with Celiac disease. I hope this is something they take in to account in the future.

This is awesome! I was worried about having to enter info about an item not previously scanned. But I had to learn this crap! So at first I didn't add it, but looked up what I didn't know on the lables. In doing so, I've educated myself along with helping others now that I can submit items. THE MONKEY MAKES ME PROUD

L70%
by L####:

Its not a bad app but I find that most products I scan have no info and I have to teach the app instead of it teaching me. I suppose it's getting me into the habit of reading all the ingredients so eventually I won't need it at all.

Just installed yesterday and it's constantly telling me I'm the first person to scan this item. So it doesn't tell me if there's gluten in stuff... like sauce or salad dressing, etc....

This is amazing it's cut my shopping time in half. I've told all my friends and family. They can buy treats for me so i feel safe eating.

Everything you scan it says youre the first to scan that product. Most unuseful app iv ever downloaded, 100% would not recommend

I thought this would be super handy as I imagined it would do kinda what my fitness pal does with regards to gluten. The first 2 items I scaned just to see how it worked (chicken stock and chili powder) came up as I was the first... This doesn't work well for me as I have no clue to this stuff Gluten likes to hide in more complex words/ingredients I thought this would be a helpful tool. The concept it great but they need to acess a data base of upc codes and link them to gluten ingredients.

For a person that just kind of would eat anything before, this is a great app. I have never read a label in my life up till being told I can't have gluten. Having no idea of what I'm looking for this is a great help to me and making it easier to spot stuff I can't have and what to look out for on those labels. Also love that it is community based so it feels like other people are right there helping you pick out the right foods and if I find something not listed I can help out everyone else to by adding it

Love this app. I know that there are some things that have not been scanned or in the database as of yet. That is why it says you are the first to scan this product. It then asks the name of product and what ingredients are not gluten-free. If your knowledgeable about gluten-free items, then please share so everyone can know. This app is only to help make it easier to shop for gluten-free. So much faster to scan than to read the whole ingredients list. My 14 year loves this app as well!!!

This is a promising tool, but the strength and the weakness is in crowdsourced data. Many items are not in the database, but since I'm in Australia that's not unexpected, and I've been adding them as I come across them. I'd appreciate the opportunity to identify why an item has been classed as gluten free - was it certified as such, or is gluten not identified as an allergen, or whatever.

I am very impressed with this app! I use it daily & when I'm at the grocery store if a product comes up unknown I look it up on Google, read ingredients then report it to the GF app. We all have to do our part in keeping each other safe from Gluten. Takes a little more time but well worth my time.

N70%
by N####:

This app is quite helpful, but some reviews I read people solely rely on it to purchase items, this can advise you but you still have to do your own research, this is updated by the users, mistakes are made. I found out I can not have gluten about 5 months ago, I double check everything, you never know! We all need to keep updating to make it better for the next person :)

I trusted this app and have been very sick, twice!! I'm uninstalling this app and going to my original instinct, if it's not labeled GF on the package, I'm not eating it. Some flavors of turkey hill Ice cream are GF but NOT ALL. Pistachio Almond must have gluten in it. And is NOT labeled on the turkey hill website which I checked only after I ate it and got sick. Not Cool. NOT COOL APP. You have all turkey hill ice cream listed as GF.

I really liked the idea of this app bit so far out of the many items I've scan it has only recognised 1. I get the idea of adding if it's not in data basic but most of the items I have scam ate basic foods I'd thought you would have known about. Please get your home work done and get this app upto data.

Having gluten allergies is a drag. But this is fun for my kiddo. We enjoy finding new things to add to help others. And most stuff is already on here. We haven't found a wrong one yet. Andriod is free. Can we get a free app for iphones?

N70%
by N####:

Very strait forward and easy to use. I must have scanned 20 things in my pantry before I found something not in the database. When I did find something not in the database I carefully read the ingredients and found that it did contain gluten, added the item and was handsomely rewarded with the picture of a monkey.

N70%
by N####:

This app is a great idea but it relies on you providing information on whether a product is gluten free or not if its not the data base. The app creator really should of input a lot more products with scientific data themselves instead of relying on the public. This is how mistakes can happen. I would hate to be a new celiac and rely on this app. You may end up eating something that contains gluten because a member of the public wasn't aware of an ingredient with an unusual name actually contains gluten.

Awesome! Totally going to play with this in the grocery store- tomorrow! I made it to the grocery store and enjoyed using this app- much less "label reading" required. Heck yes to making my shopping trip shorter. Have found a few people to be mislabeled products, could be the dairy though.

Awesome app, especially because people who need it help make it. Just needs more people to add things here and there so it can grow! Keep up the good work, I already added a few items!

Every item I've scanned thus far, even store brand items, have came up just fine. It's a growing data base so add things that's not listed for other people!!

We just found out my son is allergic to gluten. So I am in the learning process and this app has been very useful. Great idea. I don't mind entering something I scanned first as it helps me and others.

This is a new database. If there isn't a product yet please add in the information. As people get involved it will get better and better. Very excited

Just downloaded today and I'm loving it so far. I've already scanned all the gluten free items in my pantry, most were in the system but a few weren't and I love that I get to add them in so that maybe it's easier on the next person.

The description of this app is very clear. If products aren't in the database, add them and help everyone. If the product is listed as having gluten and doesn't, fix it. The same is true if it's listed as GF and list the ingredients that have gluten. This app can only get better if users participate. It's a relatively new app so it'll take time to build up a large product base. Stop whining about it not having products or them being listed wrong!

It showed me many items that were gluten based, but it also showed me gluten free items while shopping. When I did scan a few items not already in the database all I had to do was read the ingredients and look to see if there were any gluten items, when there were I added them to the list and in 30 seconds it was entered. The best part was the cute little monkey picture I received showing my item had been entered. Now my husband wants me to put this app on this phone for when he goes shopping for our family

S70%

Was hoping this would help me find out what Is gluten free, not just hope others people's input is accurate. New to this no gluten thing and this app just confuses me

S70%
by S####:

I scanned food that I knew wasn't gluten-free but it came up gluten-free. You're leaving it up the knowledge of others. If you use this app be cautious!!! There should be a way to change it if someone says it's gluten-free and it's not.

S70%

When it gets to one I don't know there is no good way too research it from this app that I found

X70%
by X####:

You want to make revenue from this app the creator of the app should sit in a grocery store and scan everything. I think I will make my own app and spend a week in a grocery store scanning everything. And then mark it as gluten free or with gluten. Why am I doing your work. Secondly it is very in efficient as an app. There are more efficient ways for this to operate. App is weak, great idea, poor execution

I love this app because it's easy to use. I've only installed it today but so far it's been incredibly helpful. Haven't come across an item that wasn't already added but if I do I'll be sure to do my part by adding it to the registry. Having to live Gluten-free is new to me and so far this app has helped to make a confusing and overwhelming situation a lot more doable! Thank you!

I just found out that my 5 years of stomach pain and hospital and unnecessary surgery that my problem was from gluten. Since I've been gluten free for 5 months now, my stomach and my health have been 10x better. This app really helps me decide what I can and can't eat! Please keep updating the app to ensure everyone who can't eat gluten can figure out how to make their life easier like I have! :)

The other day I use this app for the first time. To my surprise it was very accurate. If it did not recognize an item, it stated...I was first to scan this item. This response was acceptable because, some of the items at Whole Foods were their own brands. My conclusion? I'm sure they are still gathering more product information to add to the list. Thanks again...it was very helpful.

I understand and appreciate the idea of this app, however i have to agree with a lot of the reviews on here. Everything i scan has not been entered into the database, i know i know its up to us to all pull our weight and contribute, but if i knew whether an item was gluten free or not i wouldnt need to scan it. if ive scanned an item its because i dont have a clue and want to know. I also dont feel safe knowing that im just taking peoples word whether an item is gluten free or not.
