Help your child to develop fluency in reading! This app is perfect for beginning readers. It allows them to practice words most frequently used in the English language, what researchers call “high frequency words”. Learning and memorizing these words help to accelerate your child’s reading development.
It’s a race against the clock, and players must tap the word card that matches the word said aloud. For each correct answer, the player earns a star. After reaching 30 stars, a special key is given that unlocks a cage and frees a pet. From puppies to penguins, 16 pets need the help of a reading hero to free them from the pet-nappers!
Children with very limited reading skills will gain confidence as they recognize the correct words and letter sounds. Playing this app aids in memorization of high frequency words as players are drilled until mastery is achieved. Word lists come from Dolche Sight Words (pre primer, primer and 1st grade) and Fry Word lists (first 400).
Beginning in kindergarten, Common Core standards require students to have the ability to recognize frequently used words by sight, without having to sound out the letters individually. Pet Escape is a practice drill app that makes learning and memorizing these words fun!

My son (5 years of age) and I love this game. Freeplay or timer, play to your kids ability!!! Only when your child is capable let them play the same level against the clock. These are flash cards! Responses are supposed to be impulsive and quick, your child will learn to discern beggining middle and end sounds at a glance in order to beat the clock. Having only a limited choice of two words you can actually watch how your child discerns differences between words. After having freed an animal he's hooked.

Would be nice if i could turn off the timer. My child got so discouraged because he kept running out of time! Also, the sound didnt work on a couple of them.

I like the concept, and my daughter enjoys the game, but it is a little glitchy. Sometimes the sound doesn't play for a word, or selections don't register. Also, the timer graphic burns down faster than the actual time left. A good feature to add would be to allow parents to change the challenge time. My 4 year old is ready to start sight words, but she is frustrated by the time constantly running out and she never gets past the first level.

Wish there was a way to turn off the timer. My 6 year old has a learning disability and has trouble with words. She can't keep up with the clock. Having to uninstall to find something her level.

Worked fine until I paid the money for more and magically it's now completely stopped working not very impressed and my daughter's upset ....Please you better fix or reinburst the Money @!!@

Son enjoyed concept but got disheartened when he couldn't complete in alloted time. Would benefit from ability to extend or remove timer until more confident as put too much pressure on.

This app is great at helping kids to be speedy with sight words. Love this app!

Timer has to go. For children trying to learn the words, this feature is not feasible.
