Tab - The simple bill splitter

This program works exactly as it should. It is very good in optical character recognition of the bills. I only have to make minor modification if any. Also, since the program is free, it is very easy to get your friends to download it onto their phones as well, and therefore sync the bill in real time making the calculations very fast. Usually if I had 6 people at the dinner table, calculations by hand would take at least 10 minutes if not more, while is in a couple minutes and 100% accurate .

Great concept but not quite there yet. Overall the concept is awesome and the simple app design is great and easy to use. Unfortunately, in the some states there is a liquor/alcohol tax that is different from the standard sales tax in the state. This app doesn't allow you to decipher between which items should get which tax. This causes a great deal of confusion and ultimately means the app is useless in states where this occurs. I am sure this is a simple change to make but until it is changed/updated the rating will stand.

First, the app does its main purpose flawlessly and it's made life much easier. However, I don't trust the social aspects of Venmo so I used Square Cash. I wish there were more options in Tab but it's hardly a deal breaker.

Amazingly simple! The idea of taking a photo of the printed bill and getting an accurate selection of items is awesome! Haven't played with all of the features but boy does the basic process work well! I wish it were easier to add handwritten items, prices, and quantities instead of taking a photo though. Maybe make a "handle handwritten check" work flow and get the UX right...

I CONNOT turn off the flash or force it to focus so the images ended up coming out terribly and wouldn't work

Splitting items is cumbersome and annoying--you should be able to click on an item and check off which participants they should be split between. And why can you not reenter bills to edit an hour after creating?? Makes no sense to have this restriction.

Used to work great. Now it's very inconsistent.

This app doesn't have the list of items per person after your look at each person's breakdown page. It helps when verifying that it's been done right.

Terrible ocr, worse than every other similar app.

Autofocus doesn't work and you don't let people choose from the gallery...

I eat out with friends all the time, more than I should, so this app has saved our lives and time so much. Everyone should get this!

Literally the best thing to have when going out with friends and the restaurant won't split the bill. 11/10

Best app so far

By far one of my most useful apps. When the bill inevitably comes after brunching for 5 hours, Tab helps all us tipsy folk make sense of it all. The accurate OCR along with the simple UI makes it easy to ensure that everyone pays their fair share and no one feels cheated. 5/5 Highly recommend!

Good OCR, few non senses : You can't display a sum up or share it with others within an hour ! You can only "join the bills" which was not what I was looking for. It lacks a bit of simple things like this. And even when you finally get to the "email" button, you can't "copy to clipboard", nor send it via Whatsapp... Promising, still a few missing features.

I took crystal clear, focused shots of restaurant bill on the black background of the check wallet. The app could not use any of them & asked me to enter info manually. Ummm, that's called a "calculator". I already have one of those on my phone & it doesn't take up any extra memory space. I mean, if this app can't help me divvy up a $293 bill between 5 people who had various things w/out making me literally RE-WRITE THE ENTIRE BILL MANUALLY why have it on my phone? It's pretty useless for groups.

It worked exactly as described; I took a photo of the receipt, it was parsed perfectly, tapped a few times to assign items to people, and that was it. Really easy.

Couldn't be more easy to use, or more useful. It's perfect!

Surprisingly useful. Works well

I like the idea of snapping a picture of your bill and then assigning items to people. In theory, this is a very useful app, but the implementation misses the mark. For example I added three people to a bill, but when trying to assign items to people, I could only assign to one person, it wouldn't let me assign items to the others. App needs some refinement before it's ready for prime time.

It's a great idea, but it could be a bit better -- for one, it would be nice if it actually saved the bills, I've lost a couple that way before actually finishing up splitting the bills. Another improvement (which I'm not really sure if this would even be possible) would be if once you finish splitting up the bill, the person who made the bill could simply just request the amounts through Venmo instead of everyone having to join the bill and then pay the person

Subtotal 15, total 35 before tip. I don't get it. Is the tax level set as 100%?

I've been waiting so long for an app like this. So user friendly and I love that it doesn't ask for access for all my personal information! I make all my friends download it.

Great app! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this app to anyone that dines out with friends. Easy & quick. I just wish that the tax was applied to each item, not split evenly among the group.

Every restaurant and waitress in America should know about this. Should suggest it to those dining in large groups. Seemless, offer 3 tip option and covering birthday ppl.

Can you create a summary page where I can see everyone's totals on the same page ?

Would love for the tab to survive a little longer so that people can have a day to check it out or something. Also sharing the tab through more than just a code would be good.

Great app, but would like a feature to split one individual line further. We order the same items sometimes and the bill would have them as 3 of the same...

We were just finishing breakfast and thought there should be an app that would help with this. And there is!
