Lirik asli lagu Despacito dibawakan dengan berbahasa Spanyol dan mengandung makna yang vulgar. Namun, sekelompok santri ini mengubahnya kepada makna yang lebih positif, yaitu mengajak anak muda Indonesia untuk belajar di pesantren.

"Kita semua mengucapkan terimakasih sebanyak-banyaknya kepada teman-teman semua yang telah men-viral-kan lagu Despacito ala santri ini, ujar salah personel Menara Band, Reza seperti dikutip dalam video wawancara yang diunggah.
