The only thing worse than the app is the skill in writing of the authors.

X70%
by X####:

It is not always the most up to date news, but it is a good source of news.

Great reporting of Charlotte, national and world news. It would be nice to have more and clearer updates so that I can better tell how old the article is.

Good writers, nice look, people friendly interface

Okay, McClatchy news. It's time to drop the annoying pop-up ads. I've paid the digital subscription, properly logged in, and I'm still getting ads. I can understand ads in a free app, but not with a paid subscription. The Charlotte Observer is a good newspaper with excellent writing. Not quite as good as the NY Times but better than USA Today. But drop the ads or I'll cancel my subscription.

This would be so much better if you could turn off certain types of updates. I'm sick of constant sports updates. Also, when I get a decent breaking news, when I click it the app opens but it does not go to that story. Some are hard to find. Deleting.

Every time I try to read a Panthers story it crashes. Just started doing this. Please fix.

N70%

There are many times it does not work and will not refresh content. This happens once a week. When it works, it is great.

N70%
by N####:

It just doesn't work. Used to be you would send a link in an email. I would click on the link and get the paper. Why can it not work that way still?

I have a Samsung galaxsy sIII. All I want to do is view future events. I tried the website but it never loads so I thought I'd download the app and yet I have the same problem. The observer needs a new webpage/app manager.

For three days straight, upon opening the app, I receive the notice "unable to refresh content" and a blank screen. Uninstalling is in the very near future. Tried again in Feb 2015. Still won't load. Still a POS.

Opens fine but every time I try to switch to a particular section like sports it crashed.

New to Charlotte, so I figured I would download the app for my new home. I was quite disappointed to have pop ups all over the app along with video failure every time I went to access it. I am used to reading the Detroit news and free press from their apps. Guess I will just watch the news when I can....

It's always something with this app. I already have a digital subscription now it says I don't. I try to sign in and it says loading, but never does. What a ripoff

N70%
by N####:

Why am I restricted by a paywall now? The app was never as good as paper to begin with. Now having to pay makes it worse.

K70%
by K####:

I like the app, and I understand they want to make revenue, but it's silly limit access for non-subscribers when I can visit the full site on my mobile, or, for national and world news, just use the completely free AJC app.

Have regularly received my local news from the Charlotte Observer, and this app was a great portal. But now that I'm no longer able to access local news without paying $99, I'm going to a different media outlet. Goodbye Charlotte Observer app!

Loved it at first, and then they asked for money after 10 articles! Not worth 99$ a year.! Guess the Charlotte observer is not making it an adds.
