Was ist eine photoTAN?
Sofern Sie das photoTAN-Verfahren nutzen, ist die photoTAN ein wichtiger Bestandteil jeder Transaktion im Rahmen Ihres Online Bankings bei der Commerzbank. Sie dient der Überprüfung der Transaktionsdaten und zur Generierung der Transaktionsnummer (TAN) innerhalb von Bruchteilen einer Sekunde.
Wie funktioniert das?
Statt der bisherigen Aufforderung zur Eingabe einer iTAN in Ihrem Online Banking Portal wird Ihnen ein farbiger Barcode angezeigt. Im Mobile Banking erzeugen Sie den Code direkt mit dem neuen App2App Verfahren. Sie bearbeiten diesen mit Hilfe der photoTAN App auf Ihrem Smartphone (einscannen oder von der Mobile-Banking App starten) – und schon erscheinen TAN sowie die Transaktionsdaten auf Ihrem Smartphone. Nun müssen Sie nur noch die von Ihrem Smartphone angezeigte TAN in Ihren Computer eingeben oder den Auftrag für die Mobile-Banking App bestätigen – fertig!
Wie sicher ist dieses Verfahren?
Das photoTAN Verfahren ist eines der sichersten Verfahren, das es derzeit auf dem Markt gibt. Vor allem die Durchführung von Transaktionen mit zwei getrennten Kanälen macht die photoTAN so sicher! Außerdem:

- "Geräte-ID & Anrufinformationen" im Rahmen des Sicherheitskonzepts der App zum Schutz vor Missbrauch. Es wird nur der Teil "Geräte-ID" benötigt, abhängig von der Android Version ist es nicht möglich nur alleine dieses Recht anzufordern. Die PhotoTAN App der Commerzbank greift zu keinem Zeitpunkt auf Ihre Anrufe, Historien oder andere persönliche Daten zu!
- "Vibrationsalarm steuern" um ein Vibrationsfeedback beim erfolgreichen Einlesen der Grafik zu geben
Selbstverständlich verwenden wir die Berechtigung nicht für andere als die oben angegebenen Zwecke.
Achtung:
Die photoTAN App der Commerzbank ist mit dem "Xposed Framework" NICHT verwendbar. Um die photoTAN App zu verwenden müssen Sie diese Software komplett de-installieren. Bei installiertem Xposed Framework beendet sich die App sofort nach dem Start OHNE Fehlermeldung.

What can this app?
This app is your "key" to the new security procedures for the online and mobile banking at Commerzbank: photoTAN. Equips your smartphone with the safety disconnection capability that is required for this procedure. The photoTAN you can set up and activate the comfort of your online banking portal.
What is a photoTAN?
If you use the photoTAN procedures that photoTAN is an important part of any transaction within your online banking at Commerzbank. It is used for verification of the transaction data and to generate the transaction number (TAN) in a fraction of a second.
How does this work?
Instead of the prompt for a iTAN in your online banking portal, a colored bar code is displayed. In mobile banking you generate the code directly to the new App2App process. To edit this using the photoTAN app on your phone (or scan start from the mobile banking app) - and TAN and the transaction data will appear on your phone. Now you need to do is enter the displayed from your smartphone TAN in your computer or confirm the order for the mobile banking app - that's it!
How safe is this procedure?
The photoTAN process is one of the most secure method that is currently available on the market. Especially the execution of transactions with two separate channels makes the photoTAN so sure! Also:
• the signature
• encrypted data transmission and
• the genuine transfer to the smartphone.

The permissions on your device are required:
- "Camera" to scan the graphics photoTAN
- "Device ID & call information" as part of the safety concept of the app to protect against abuse. It is required only that part of the "Device ID", depending on the version of Android it is not possible only alone this right to request. I've been using the photoTAN app for several years and it was working fine. I'm now on a Google (Motorola) Nexus 6 and recently updated to Android 7.0 (Build NBD91P). The newest versions of the app, 7.1.X including 7.1.9, don't seem to be working anymore - the app hangs on the splash screen immediately after launching. I downgraded to an older version of the app back from April (Version 7.0.1) and this one seems to be working fine. However, this is extremely annyoing since I cannot use the "Update All" functionality on my phone if I want to ignore updates for the broken new versions and without the app I cannot carry out online banking which I need to do all the time. Please investigate, devs.

I really hate this application, never worked whenever I need it. I had to call service every time. Once I stuck in a foreign country, because of this. I needed to buy flight tickets, but thanks to application, somehow it de-actived itself and asked me activation letter when I am thousands of kilometers away. Application de-activate itself randomly. When you want to activate, Commerzbank web page shows that this device is already activated, when you want to deactivate from web page, it asks to take photo of another tan. But again you cannot because mobile app is in activation state. Every time different different errors. When application is updated, it can never work with old cache. Always you have to uninstall and remove cache and install again. But what happens if we do not have internet in our mobile at this point (another country roaming)? I think no one thought about this at all. This problem already solved in other countries by sms. When you want to use your credit card online, you just receive a code via sms and thats all, very practical and works in all situations. Why photoTan is adapted, even if it is adapted why it cannot be implemented properly, I do not understand.

App will deregister itself at random moments. The banking app also does not work at night. Being able to open the landing page does not count as 24/7 access if you cannot log in. Please stop misleading people. There needs to be a backup option and at the moment as i ve been left high and dry at a very important moment i am considering leaving the bank.

Turned out it doesn't like having Xposed _Installer_ on the phone: uninstalling it fixes the problem. Which obviously has nothing to do with Xposed _Framework_ installed (as app description requires). Nexus 5X rooted, stock Android 6.0.1, build MTC20K.
