FilmFest Osnabrück

Das Unabhängige FilmFest Osnabrück ist eines der traditionsreichsten und renommiertesten Filmfestivals in Niedersachsen und präsentiert einmal im Jahr sozial engagiertes, unabhängig produziertes Kino aus aller Welt, das sich am aktuellen Tagesgeschehen orientiert und mit hochkarätigen Gästen wie Filmemachern oder Branchenexperten gesellschaftliche Diskussionen anstößt.

Dabei zeigt das FilmFest ausschließlich Osnabrücker Premieren, eine Reihe von deutschen Premieren sowie besonders im Kurzfilmbereich zahlreiche Uraufführungen. Trotz einer unverwechselbaren Auswahl an engagierten Filmen, die unter Beteiligung bürgerschaftlichen Engagements in Sichtungsgruppen des Osnabrücker Filmforums e.V. erfolgt, versteht sich das FilmFest sich als Publikumsfestival.

Auf dem FilmFest werden fünf Preise mit einem Wert von insgesamt 11.000 Euro vergeben. Die gesellschaftlich engagierte Ausrichtung des FilmFest-Programms und das Bestreben, auch unabhängig produzierten Kinofilmen – häufig von Nachwuchstalenten – eine Plattform zu bieten, verleiht dem renommierten FilmFest Osnabrück ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal unter den bundesdeutschen Festivals.

Auch im Ausland sorgt das FilmFest durch sein einzigartiges Profil für Aufsehen. Erstmals wurde es 1986 unter dem Namen „Tage des unabhängigen Films“ veranstaltet.
