• Rate every train service you take
• Live updates on train times
• Keep track of how many minutes you’ve lost when the train’s been late. We also record any time you’ve gained
• See which platform your train is going from as soon as it is confirmed
• Find out which rail services have the most available seats, get most crowded and which are the least reliable
• Send your mates, loved ones, employers updates of when you’ll arrive
• Find out the current status of your train operator
• We’ll send you notifications when you need to bring a brolly or the train disruption on your commute is getting bad
We’re independent of any rail provider, but we know stuff about rail and we know about commuting. We built CommuteLondon to spend less time hanging around train stations, planning train journeys, and to have more fun with our time on trains.

Some people ask us why we ask you to sign up for train info. Well, we need to take a little bit of information about your commute and that’s a bit personal. We want to provide some protection around that, so we ask you to sign up. We won’t share any personal data with anyone. We also like to keep in touch with our newsletters – we hope you like them, they’re not about us, they’re about commuting.
Why are we asking for permission to use your microphone? The new release of the third party feedback tool we're using (instabug) allows users to send us voice memos as feedback. This was a little unexpected and we're working to disable it or have it removed. Apologies for this, but don't worry we're not listening, unless you shake the app and decide to send us a voice message!
If you want to share locations, we tune some info based on where you are.

As a rail commuter lets face it we need an app that tells us what's happening on our rail network and why there are so many delays and cancellations. I have now found this app that tells me exactly what I need to know about the state of my commute. I use it daily when leaving home and work to check if there are delays or disruptions on my journey. It also has some useful features like timetable, live departures, platform confirmation (very desirable), rate the rail operator, survey of my train and tube status.I also like the fact that I can opt into receiving daily notifications for weather and disruptions. So I recommend this app to all rail commuters.

This app is useful although sometimes the twitter feed can initially be misleading as a problem with the train operator can be misinterpreted as a problem with one's specific route. Sadly this app has stopped working and I do miss it which is proof enough of how good it is.

I and many others have a deep suspicion of apps that request seemingly unnecessary permissions without explanation. If it is a legitimate requirement there should be no reason not to be open and publish the permissions list and an explanation of why they are required in the app description.

It's really easy to tell if there are problems on my line or not by using this app. In a quick glance I know what to expect from my journey.

Love this app. This is an example of using social data and big data to provide another look at how you can provide information on commuting. Things I would change though, UI to scroll through twitter feed I don't like. Maybe use ViewPager to navigate to the next pane. You need to be able to go back in time so you can rate the train you are on. Tweet directly through app, add a hashtag to provide the user on what train you are on (might be hard due to 140 char)

Unfortunately the lack of any landscape mode makes this very hard to use for any tablet. Shame, as the content and quality is very good. I would give this 5 stars if it did have landscape but it's just too difficult to use on a tablet at the moment.

It's called CommuteLondon but doesn't include Tube/DLR services. However, it does offer places like Abercynon which, last time I checked, is about 4 hours from London by train. Looks good but is a bit pointless.
