About Tangobot
This application runs the Turtlebot 2 robot software in a Tango device, replacing the requirement for a Netbook or single-board Linux computer by an Android device.
Aimed at developers who want to experiment using Android-powered devices as the on-board computer for a robotic system. Tangobot integrates ROS, Tango and Android components to provide a complete robotics-system-in-a-phone capable of teleoperation and autonomous navigation.
This application is intended as an easy-to-start-with example project. Tutorials with set-up and running instructions can be found in the ROS wiki. The source code is also provided, under Apache 2 license.
Possible extensions of this project include:
* Obstacle avoidance using the Tango depth sensor
* Drift correction using visual SLAM through the Tango Area Learning features
* Automatic floor plan generation using Tango's 3D reconstruction libraries
Tangobot is brought to you by Ekumen in collaboration with Intermodalics with support from Google Tango.
