About Assistant Event for Tasker

This Tasker plugin lets you use the "Google Assistant" gesture (that by default fires up Google Now) as an event in Tasker to execute the task of your choice.

The gesture exists since Android 4.1 and can be activated by long-pressing on the Home button and then dragging to the icon that appears in a half-circle above.

It may also be available on some devices by hitting the Search button.

This plugin should also function in Locale and other apps that use the same API, but I have not tested with anything other than Tasker.

Note: This is not a full app on its own; it only functions in conjunction with Tasker or another app that implements the Locale plugin API.

Once you have installed this app, you will see the plugin as a context within Tasker (under State > Plugin). Then, if you perform the Assistant gesture, you should be asked which application to direct it to. Choose this application, and for best results, select that you want it to always be the choice.

Please contact me via email with any issues, as I can't respond to your review directly.

Neither this app nor Empty Path LLC are affiliated with Tasker, Locale or any similar app or author.

Crashes touchwiz when you set this as default and try to long press the home button to reach your jump/multitasking list. But my google now shortcut on lockscreen sucessfully changed so using that will activate this app instead.

S6 edge here running Marshmallow, works perfectly fine with action launcher 3 and tasker. I am capturing long press on the home key and displaying a custom menu built in tasker, never failed nor crashed.

Doesn't work on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Does what it says, which is exactly what I wanted.

Works sweeter than a dreamy eyed secretary on my Z3.

I was looking at using Secure Settings Pro to do exactly this. I'm glad I didn't spend the $1.50 on SS since that was the only feature I wanted and this does it perfectly. Great App.

Android may have made some changes to their assist function (swiping up is gone, it's now a long press on home button and its configured from app settings) BUT this plugin hasn't changed, and it still works!!! I paired it with AutoShortcut to run a shortcut as an assist function and it works perfectly :)

I am using Moto E and have installed this. But in my tasker app when I add a plugin event then it is not shown. What is the problem with it?

New profile - event - ui - assistance request..... Same thing without this app right? Did I miss something?

... recent tasker update made the function native though. Will phase out Event Assistant for Tasker. Was great while tasker didn't have it.

Especially useful since sliding the home button can be exchanged for this! Basically, sliding the home button means you launch whatever you want!

M70%

When you set assistant event as all ways by default, touchwiz crashes when you call it again. Will change to 5 star if there is a workaround or is fixed.

Only if I choose to start the tasker task just once If I press on always and start the action again my "system ui" crashes which means that I can't use my phone for several minutes - sgs4 with stock rom

I got a touchwiz problem too. When set up as default it makes the recent tasks command crashes, says the system ui crashes or something like that

M70%
by M####:

On my Galaxy S2 HD LTE (svh-e120s). Using the app one time works fine, however, like others have mentioned before, if I select always use, it crashes touchwiz and fails to load properly. I see this problem has been around for awhile and still hasn't been fixed. Uninstalling until I see a change.
