Always used the GWR application to buy ALL my tickets in the uk, was a great application, change is NOT always good and is NOT always needed, you have changed something for the sake of it. If you bother to read the feedback from your customers, and how UNHAPPY they are with this update, then perhaps you would make something that works. If, for example 1000 customers out of 1100 tell you its a bag of runny poo, it may be an idea for you to listen and ask yourself why is it not as good as the old version.

D70%
by D####:

The old app was substandard enough - it lacked important information that is standard on other companies apps. For example the last version of the GWR app didn't allow you to see the exact details of your journey as other companies do (Virgin's is particularly good). You could only see the date and booking number. So what do GWR do? Do they bother looking at rival apps and take the best ideas to improve their own? BWAAAHAHAHA! What a stupid belief to hold, knowing the rubbish experience of regularly using one of the most avaricious and unpleasant companies to travel long distance with of all TOCs. (Experience the cattle-truck, mainly airline GWR carriages packing in the profit and compare with say, the ambience of Virgin or Grand Central). I won't bother with no-brainer suggestions about improving the app - GWR won't listen.

by F####:

New version is dreadful old one had issues but worked. This one lengthy viewing prices are complicated and no tickets showing in app has to by m tickets only. Does help if you activate M tickets im wales. As arrive has it already. Wont remember and stay logged in.

I70%
by I####:

For some reason the app no longer tells you where the train is but instead tells you where you are. This might seem amazingly awesome to a GWR worker but this is duplicating a function that my eyes and station signs already do. Doesn't seem to save favourite journeys anymore either. It's so Unuserfriendly that I've decided I probably won't launch it a 3rd time. Shame.

W70%
by W####:

Dreadful since the last update. Can't save favorite stations or trips, can't find the times of return trains 'cause of 'unavailable server' issues. Update: installed the Trainline app, much simpler to use, does everything I want, remembers journeys, offers prepayment by PayPal as well as debit/credit cards AND offers fully digital tickets on my phone (QR code) which is great 'cause my local branch line station is rarely staffed out of holiday season.

R70%
by R####:

Pointless update. Old version was fine so why change it? It no longer shows collect at station ticket reference numbers and the layout is horrible. Being forced to update was not and never will be a nice move either. Don't "fix" this new version, just go back to the old one. Problem solved.

R70%
by R####:

New update, whilst including some new features, has become overcomplicated. The new purchase navigation is lengthy and uneasy to read compared to the previous version; you cannot easily scroll through specific ticket prices or departure times! Nectar login seems to be failing too. Kudos on the addition of bike reservations... but this feels like it's taken a giant leap backwards with it's complex new navigation.

R70%
by R####:

This is awful. Live train times doesn't save your search - there is a star on the screen, but it does nothing - no indication of where your train is, can no longer tap on a station for connection times. It was a joy to use (especially compared with the windows phone version), but is now a chore. Am looking for alternatives. Awful.

R70%
by R####:

Terrible since recent update. Slower, less intuitive UX (eg you have to press the price to buy a ticket but it's not clear it's a button), doesn't save favourite journeys any more, and VERY ANNOYINGLY doesn't keep a record of eticket confirmation codes in the app (even for tickets bought through the app) so I had to go digging around in my emails for the code. Just terrible. The old app was great - why did this change?

R70%
by R####:

Not sure I like this new app. Don't seem to be able to keep a list of live departure boards (main use), and train search has now very much become a 'sell you a ticket' experience (I have a season ticket so what's the point). Sorry guys, but this is form over function.

R70%
by R####:

The FGW app used to allow you to store the tickets on the app to flash at the gates, meaning I didn't have to wait around for tickets to get lost in the post or queue up at the destination station to collect them. Great news. This new GWR one only offers delivery or collection, whilst telling you that 'more and more places are accepting e-tickets'. That's nice, but not if I can't actually GET an e-ticket from you. Why have you made this worse than it was before? It makes zero sense.

F70%
by F####:

Massive backwards step compared to the old app. Nothing better, but loads worse. Really frustrating to have to type in the same stations each time I look at live departures for my daily commute. Please bring back the old app

R70%
by R####:

The new app is terrible - cant save journeys, harder to navigate, less clear about where trains are in relation to the station I am using. overall its become overcomplicated, clumsy and frustrating to use. will be looking for an alternative that like the old one was simple, did what it needed and was perfectly fine.

U70%
by U####:

Very disappointed since the last update. For some unknown reason, I now have to sign-in every time I buy a ticket rather than it remembering who I am. In addition, whilst the app used to remember all my journeys (with their booking references, for easy lookup when collecting tickets), it now doesn't. I, unfortunately, see no improvements and only backwards steps.

D70%
by D####:

There is something seriously wrong at First Group. Trans Pennine Express (part of First Group as are GWR) updated their app to this same monstrosity at the beginning of the year. It attracted dozens of negative reviews. So what do GWR do? Why, update their app to the same abomination as the TP Express app that is universally loathed. The truth is that the old GWR/TP Express apps were great, the new ones useless. The best thing to do is to migrate to the Virgin Trains app which is the same as the old GWR app and they give Nectar points. If you are not bothered about Nectar points, then the Cross Country, East Midlands Trains, Greater Anglia and Northern trains apps are also like the old GWR one. None of these train operators are part of First Group so hopefully won't "improve" their apps to this nightmare. Update 7 June 2017- I will give them another week to replace this with the old version- if it hasn't been by then I will remove this rubbish from my phone.

D70%
by D####:

Update is hopeless. You seem to have done something that you think looks pretty, but doesn't provide the user with what they need. My stored journeys/references are no longer available. How is that an improvement? Why should I have to search through old emails? Did you ask users what they would like to see in an updated app?

R70%
by R####:

I don't like the new update. You can't see where the train is, only times it is due in. Not good. Please reinstate the train icon. Also you can't refresh the page to update the journey. Loved the old app, used it all the time. Reverted to National Rail app until/if this is fixed. Roll it back please.

R70%
by R####:

Absolute disaster of an update. I used to use this in preference to train line due to its simplicity. You have lost that with this update. I cannot see tickets that I have purchased in the past and also new ones. Really need to fire the people responsible for this roll out. Will be using other platforms for tickets etc etc unless you turn back to previous version.

I70%
by I####:

As so many others have said, the old version did what I wanted, saved my regular journeys etc. This morning, while in a rush, instead of getting the info I wanted, I was forced to update the app. This was supposed to add some new stations and fix some bugs but actually removes all the useful features of the old version. Why did anyone at GWR think this was a good idea? Please change the app back to the old version while the team considers the feedback. Otherwise I and many others will install another app - we don't have much choice about which train company we use, but fortunately we do about which app we use! Update 24.05.2017 now using Fasteroute for train times - it does exactly what I want, is easy to use and looks good too. It's now over a week since GWR issued this supposed upgrade. Despite all the pleas to go back to the previous version, GWR has done nothing. Terrible app, terrible train service, terrible customer service.

R70%
by R####:

Huge step backwards. Used to be so simple to find train times to and from selected stations. I don't need the app to plan the rest of my journey. Why did you have to overcomplicate what was a really useful app?

R70%
by R####:

What is this absolute rubbish? This is supposed to be a train times app. Yet the planner does not know about any stations on the GWR network and the nice feature of stored journeys has vanished. Take this rubbish away.

R70%
by R####:

This updated version is definitely not as good as the previous version. Logging in each takes valuable time and sometimes difficult when you are traveling to the station in a taxi. Also cutoff time is 1hr, then advises to purchase tickets via station office, previously cutoff was 10 minutes. A further point I have to enter railcard details each purchase. The majority of my journeys are lengthy ones and I'm unable to prebook. The previous App far superior however live time's works very well. Regards Trevor

I have just tried for the first (second and third) to buy tickets. It did not work. Instead the app showed me that you had a technical error. I had to resort to the GWR website. Also it's poor that it appears that if I could buy paper tickets, the option to find my outstanding reservations in 1 place has gone. I don't want to be trawling through emails in front of a ticket machine in the early hours of the morning. I want to click the My Tickets and get a list of all the tickets I can collect. Even just a link to the My Bookings page on your website would help. This is a significant backward step in interface and fails in it's basic job of letting me buy train tickets.

T70%
by T####:

The old app was fine. I mainly used it to find the best/fastest route home, and the old app would do that, including trips that required a change of trains. (The National Rail app doesn't have that functionality). Please fix this. Or just revert to the old app until you have sorted out all the problems.

R70%
by R####:

App often crashes and claims technical errors on payments (even if there hasn't been)- this has caused me to end up paying twice for tickets in the past despite the app claiming that one of these orders couldn't be processed (and then having to pay £10 to get a refund). Requires strong 3G/Wi-Fi to work effectively. Generally slow.

R70%
by R####:

Is this a joke? TERRIBLE experience with multiple logins during one booking, with garish red price tags, with reserved seats' nonsense red warnings just copied from the website, with 10 times as many clicks, with need to guess where are you in the process and what you're buying and where have mobile tickets gone!? The old app wasn't very pretty but it was intuitive, logical, simple, tidy and quick. And again - mobile tickets?

C70%
by C####:

What an absolute joke of an app. Who actually tested this? The old one worked just fine. Why not improve that rather than deliver an absolute disaster that will just lose you custom?

R70%
by R####:

Ticket not stored in phone and still needs to be collected. The station failed to give me the reservation part at collection and customer phone support was useless. Now have to make extra journey even though reservation stored in app!!! Update: New app is pretty useless. A real step backwards.

R70%
by R####:

Oh dear... the App used to be a favourite of mine but the latest update looks like it has undone all the useful features just to introduce a more complete journey planner. Please bring back the ticket wallet. It is a real pain to have to refer to emails to get a booking code etc. Also the original saved journeys was useful - that has also gone. Look at the Cross Country App which I am now using until this app gets sorted out if you want an app that stores purchased ticket date etc. That App also makes no charge for using a credit card. I am happy to give this app a much higher rating even if it reverted to the previous incarnation.

J70%
by J####:

Before update app was simple and handy. Now you cannot find your collection on station codes when you buy ticket by web which I was mainly using this app for. If that thing not showing this then no point for me to keep that app.

R70%
by R####:

What the heck happened to favourites? Why have the button there if it doesn't do anything? Sure the developers were well paid for this backward step of an 'update'. Well done.

Z70%
by Z####:

Can we please please please have the old app back? Together with the faults pointed out by other users, this one invites you to log in then promptly forgets you. Totally useless. I will have to go back to booking on the PC and printing out the ticket codes. Just dreadful. The team responsible for this "upgrade" should be fired - as should whoever hired them. Talk about doing things on the cheap. GWR has just ritually slaughtered its brand before our eyes.

D70%
by D####:

The app is horrible to use now. It doesn't remember my login details, I'm entering search details twice before any results are given. Login box doesn't recognise keyboard until I hit sign in and get an error. Live train information is not clear if the train has left from previous stations. When I buy tickets I can't see them in the app, I have to go into the website. Can't see options in buy multiple journeys in one transaction. Please sort this out. The old app was cluncky, but worked. I'm now using the website rather than the app.

R70%
by R####:

What is it with developers. You shouldn't lose functionality with an update. Can't see regular tickets purchased through the app! Need this to see the reference number. Had to embarrassingly trawl through emails at a machine with a queue of people behind when collecting a ticket. Now I haven't got a record of past journeys. Can't see any improvement other than moving things around. Last app was fine why, oh why change it when it's not broke.

R70%
by R####:

The previous version of the app was perfectly good, I'd go as far to say very good. The new version - after much fanfare - is a great step backwards. Everything I used it for is much worse. All of the other feedback I agree with. You keep saying that "you're going to look into the issues", but these are not issues (problems/bugs) they are serious design flaws. I assume that you're trying to align your Web and phone apps, since the new app is obviously Web pages being loaded inside an app. This is a mistake; the previous version was mobile specific and all the better for it. Please revert back. I am going to try out eg thetrainline's.

R70%
by R####:

Horrible change. Took me 2 hours to connect nectar with app. Can't find my platform information!!! Need to go to my emails to find booking reference. All this was available before. I got forced the update as otherwise the old app was working perfectly fine beside missing some nice to haves. Please reverse back.

R70%
by R####:

Total sh*te since the update. It no longer saves any of my favourite trips, barely works and gave me false information about multiple trips so I ended up stuck on two trains going the wrong way. Literally as useless as the company themselves now. Embarrassing to say the least. Theyve just lost all of my direct business to the trainline app now - hundreds of pounds a month.

C70%
by C####:

It is terrible since replacing the old app. Buying a daily single as I do is a nightmare and it forgets all previous settings apart from saving card details so having to reenter. The final straw is that on two occasions I have made payment but the final screen comes back with technical fault although it's taken the money. If it was not for logging onto my account on the website I would have bought duplicate tickets. Advice is to go back to the old developers and beg then to reinstate the old app. If not everyone will be uninstalling this slow, poorly designed and unreliable app. Terrible!

R70%
by R####:

What an awful improvement. It takes forever and a day to book a ticket. It is also too complicated to plan a journey. The outcome is limited and does not provide the clarity of the previous app. I guess some of the improvements are related to internet security but other than not recommendable at all.

R70%
by R####:

Very much worse than the previous version. It takes longer to do anything, and purchasing a ticket is much more complex. Having purchased a ticket (for collection as e-ticket option not offered) I could not see a way of displaying the purchased ticket after the event - it showed details as the last step in the purchase but could not find them afterwards - most importantly I could not retrieve the collection code using the app. With the old app, I could find the code using 'my tickets' but it does not show in the new version.
