This camera application completely avoids scene modes, instead you get full manual control over all photographic parameters, just like you do with a reflex camera, so you can ultimately control every aspect of the picture, and leave the post-processing to the computer. So after your DSLR, you will never miss a photo opportunity again, being able to capture it with the closer sensation to your DSLR as possible.

* Requires Android 5.0+ and a fully compliant Camera2 implementation. Currently only LG Nexus 5 and Motorola Nexus 6.
** Requires Android 5.0+. Compatible as well on the Samsung Galaxy Camera (1 and 2), Galaxy S4 Zoom and HTC One (M8). On Android 4.4 or older, long exposures lowers picture resolution to 2 or 1 MP, depending models. The reason is explained here: http://www.camerafv5.com/faq.php#long-exposure-resolution
- Approximate location and precise location: only used for geotagging functionality (disabled by default, and requires manual GPS activation).
- Modify or delete the contents of your USB storage and take pictures and videos: required for the usual camera operation.
It has a very useful interface and that is why I bought it. But it crashes constantly, lags, dosen't turn to landscape, freezes. Total disaster! And I tested it with 4.2.2, 5.1 and last two days with 6.1 OS. I want a refund.
Misleading support for RAW capture. Misleading support for long shutter shots. HTC m9 is clearly capable of a full 21 megapixel 2 second long exposure. This app castrates that to a pithy 2.1 megapixel for some reason. They just use the video camera instead of the actual camera mode. LAZY AND FAKE. HTC M9 clearly supports RAW capture in the stock app. This app claims its not capable. The devs have misled people into thinking this is actually capable of doing these things when the opposite is true.
Doesn't take superior quality photos and doesn't save flash settings. Preview photos are always vertical, it's annoying when you are taking landscape photos. On screen live preview and taken photos look different. App crashes every now and then.
Camera is laggy, fails to focus, fails to take photos on occasions and has resulted in many missed photo opportunities and blurry photos. It was fine before this update. Very unhappy.
I love this app, and i use with my s6 active. But sometime it's freeze when i took multiple shoot and even force my phone to restart by itself. Please fix it.thanks....5 stars if it can be fixed
Not good for manual adjustment. Very disappointed in this app. Frequently became unresponsive or refused to take photos for no reason. UI state would get inconsistent, with settings greyed out or disabled when they shouldn't be. Would not recommend for portrait/stationary photography.
If I try to focus on something, and the focus fails a few times, it comes up with a window asking if I want to go into the focus settings. I click on focus settings and it crashes. All I want is a focus that is naturally adjustable, not one that works by selecting the focal point by touching the screen. I also don't know where to send this privately so here I am making a lame review.
If this was fixed and the manual focus issue I'll give it 5 stars. Anytime I want to manual focus I have to use the stock camera app. It's annoying.
App works fine until I try to use the ffc. When I do it instantly locks the phone up. Hard reset is the only way to get it back. Power +volume down +home key for 8 seconds.
The main (rear) camera works perfectly with "camera 2 API", with tap exposure and focus also working very well. It almost never freezes and takes excellent photos, including manual ISO and shutter speed. However as soon as I switch to the front (selfie) camera, the app freezes and basically stops responding. I can force it close with phone's buttons and put phone to sleep and wake it up, and eventually succeed in closing the app. So completely functional with rear camera and completely freezes with front camera. LG G4, Android 6.01.
Just some problems coming up every now and again, but for lg G4 owners it allows you to take 2988x5312 photos, and store them right to the SD card, still very slow when switching from front camera to back camera, settings become becomes laggy,
I got this app to replace the original camera app on my phone, which only took blurry images. This app is great for photos, but the consistent bugs really kill it. One of the major issues I have is, if you leave the camera app open and your screen locks (no third party locks, just the standard phone lock), your phone becomes unusable if you attempt to unlock it. The phone rapidly switches back and forth between the camera app and lock screen. The flash comes on and stays on continuously. The only way to stop the rapid back and forth between app and lock screen is to hold down the power button and do a reset. A second issue is the random crashing of the app once a photo is taken or when attempting to take a photo. The app will also stay open in the background causing immense battery drain and the phone to get hot. I've had this app for many months now but it is time to find something better. The bugginess is not worth the missed photo opportunity and frustration.
No spaces in file names? Why not?
Great app. Thanks for fixing Custom Storage Location.
I've used this app for many years.. there have been a few bugs (that get fixed as they have been discovered..). The app is constantly being improved by a developer who is genuinely trying to give you the best manually controlled camera app experience that he can. The interface is elegant and the features list is comprehensive. Other equivalent camera apps may offer slightly different features but, overall, I don't think that any offers a substantially better product than this app. Very highly recommended.
I love this camera app, hold to focus and easy access to exposure settings are brilliant. I'd like the interface to be a little cleaner, turned off most things I can but resolution icon persists after switching off the battery indicator. BUG: Once I've used the camera it seems to hold a background task open. This drains the battery and actually makes the phone hot in my pocket. I have to remember to kill the app after using it to prevent this. Samsung s5 mini running 5.1
Love the new settings. Would really Love to have the ability to invert the viewfinder. Not sure if it's possible but if anyone can do it it's you! The feature is available in Open Camera. But I love this app so much more. I use the BeastGrip and DOF adapter. Sometimes very difficult to get shot with an upside down image in the viewfinder. Orientation correction is very nice for review however. Thank you Dev!
Recently made the switch from iPhone to Android and was looking for an app that was comparable to Camera+ on iOS. Works great! My only complaint is that the custom save directory doesn't work... The app keeps saving photos to its default folder instead of the custom folder. Using a OnePlus 3 on OxygenOS 3.2.5
This is a great alternative to the standard camera app, great for more professional looking photos. I recommend this to anyone who has more advanced photography knowledge and wants more creative control. Only thing I think is missing is better manual focus control. Regardless of the setting I choose, I'm stuck with autofocus. A slider that allows me to control this manually so I can take bokeh shots and stuff like that would be great.
I'm using Sony Xperia Z3 and this app offers most coolest functions and professional appearance. It even allowed me to save pictures to SD card instead of internal storage which is not often offered by other camera apps. But recent Sony's (or android's) system update doesn't let me save pictures to SD card anymore when I can still choose SD card as my save destination. It just save it to default folder in internal storage. Wonder it's just my problem.
I am using s Samsung S7Edge with this app. This is a great app and i have been using it extensively for over 15 days. I have found it very flexible with important and useful features and is far better than the stock camera. In fact it produces better results, it has better focus processing is faster and more intuitive. I really liked... but there is a big downfall for me: although everything is nice, the RAW feature doesn't work in my phone... and yes, my phone supports RAW (i have used it a lot in promode with stock camera) This is quite frustrating as RAW mode is important. I have searched for this problem and it looks like there are plenty of people with the same issue, but FV teams is very slowly or not responding at all about this...
Don't get me wrong, this is an excellent camera app. The main issue is that it constantly crashes. It usually fixes after a restart, however it is annoying as I have it bound to the 'double press' function of the power button. Opening manually also causes crashes. (Running on a Nexus 6P)
I used to love using it with S7 also used to recommend it to everyone I know. Update, I have changed my rating because lately it completely crashes my S7. After some Android updates now it hard crashes the phone when switching to the front facing camera. Works fine with rear camera, switch and it crashes. Phone goes completely dead, no response, no nothing. After about 5-10 minutes of actual real time, you can sometimes get enough of a response to restart the phone. Other wise completely black screen. Tried emailing author, no response. Do not recommend it at this time.
The quality goes down the drain with time. No replies to support emails, issues with simple features (won't write to custom location on sd card on galaxy s7 edge, writing raw dng on s7 edge is inconsistent).
Most camera apps just seem to reuse the same Android code that didn't work well at all on my Nextbit Robin. I got this app and it's like a different camera. Every issue I had with my camera magically disappeared. 4 bucks to upgrade a phone is very cheap. Thanks and kudos!
Why doesn't the developed respond? Most of photos taken using this app are flat, can you please improve the app so the photos appear more crisp? I'm using an LG E988, Optimus G Pro phone with Android 4.4
First off, this used to be an awesome camera app. I was forced to reset my phone and thus reinstalled this app as well. However, I no longer could save my newly taken pics on SD card despite I have chosen custom storage location. Please help. My phone is One Plus X, OS 2.2.3
Reluctantly giving this nice app only three stars. It is well laid-out and generally works very well. I upgraded to the paid version so that I can save RAW (DNG) files of my images. My Samsung Galaxy S6's native camera app supports RAW files. Unfortunately, this app is not producing the RAW files, and multiple emails to the author have gone unanswered.
While the functionality is excellent, I've experience various issues with microSD storage. It does not seem to work at all any longer with various sdcards that I've tried. While I'd prefer to use FV5, I've moved on to another camera app at this point. Running on a Moto X Pure, Android 6.0, with 128GB microSD.
This app would be almost 100%, but I find myself looking elsewhere because I absolutely must have an app with these features PLUS able to shoot square 1:1 ratio. (I sell online. Having a camera that takes photos that don't need editing/cropping to a square is a MUST.) Other than that, I love this app. If it took square photos, I would recommend it to everyone I know!
I am using Samsung S7 Edge which supports this feature. However, I can only capture a DNG RAW image as long as I don't preview the picture. I have to relaunch the app in order to resume the DNG RAW capture, otherwise, the RAW icon next to the file name disapears as it defaults back to JPEG only capture.
This is an overall good camera. I don't quite understand the bad rating. My only complain is the slow shutter speeds compared to other cameras. But besides that, the photos are quite solid and quality is also very good. I use this camera often, particularly in situations where I don't mind the two seconds delay the shot needs.
I installed this on my Galaxy S7 hoping to try some features. The only thing it did was make my phone horribly unresponsive. No matter what button I pressed, the phone wouldn't respond to anything. Since I can't remove the battery, I was forced to wait till it came back on...Tim about 30 minutes. Will never use this app again.
I kept hoping one day I'd open this app and get to use it without it being so damn buggy. I've hung on to this app for over a year and the bugs persist with no significant improvements, time to Let It go.
This app is a joke, reboot my nexus 6 twice in 30 mins, extremely laggy and sluggish to work with. I would really like to refund it, unfortunately I was out of refund window. Anyway, I un install it. I do not recommend it.
Manual shutter speed does not work in google pixel. The night mode is better in my stock camera than the night mode in this app. Not all functionality works with all devices. What a shame I spent a week reading the user guide and troubleshooting shooting should have applied for a refund instead of wasting my time. Over all major disappointment.
Only problem I've had is that RAW files seem to default to being stored in the DCIM directory, not the custom file directory I choose in settings (JPGs store in the custom directory though). Would be great to be able to set one custom directory for the JPG image, and a different directory for the DNG file.
I've tried several camera apps both paid and free versions and this is the best one yet for my moto g3 (camera great, motorolas own stock camera software poo. people say the camera is rubbish but i'm certain it's the software that lets the moto g3 camera down) however, I needed an app with manual focus as the moto g3 doesn't focus well in poor lighting and this app is great for that. The only thing is it doesn't put my screen on full brightness when I open the app even though i've selected it in settings
Very good app, much better pics compared to stock camera, since it allows manual control of camera settings . Deserves 5 star only if the quality of long exposure shots were good. Not much difference between this app and the lite version. Not sure if there is a way to increase quality of long exposure shots, especially while working with light trails.
Can't change aperture, shutter speed, or ISO manually. Does everything my camera phone already does. Showed it to others they couldn't find where to change things manually either. I have a droid Maxx 2. I'm sad I paid $4 for nothing
