What are users saying about Mobile Link for Generators

N70%
by N####:

Generac sold us a defective mobile link. Had to wait 2 months to get a new unit. Now I find that there is not a place in the app to modify my MDN number so I cannot activate the new mobile link. Bad customer and dealer support. If I could leave less than 1 star I would.

N70%
by N####:

Waste of money for the service. The app constantly says it has been deactivated. Every time the power goes out, I just get multiple alerts that the battery charger has lost power. It appears that the battery charger doesn't work off of generator power. Really silly service.

N70%
by N####:

needs work, why do i keep getting logged out?? All you can do is view status not like someone could start the generator or do anything useful with it....

N70%
by N####:

Forces you to log in every time!! Very frustrating. Why can't it remember your password?

N70%
by N####:

App/Service is mediocre. Got notifications and emails 15 after events. No text messages..

X70%
by X####:

I get text messages with updates but the app doesn't show anything. Just displays normal status.

N70%
by N####:

I keep downloading, but it does not open for me to do anything

R70%
by R####:

Fairly decent app. Does what it is supposed to, most of the time..

Q70%
by Q####:

My wireless unit on the generator failed and (after a long long time) it was replaced under warranty. There is a new MDN number but the app or web site doesn't have a place I can find to edit the settings.

N70%
by N####:

The App has never notified me of anything, and is totally worthless. Notifications are set up properly, but it still doesn't work, and it won't allow me to save push notifications.

A70%
by A####:

This app really needs to remember your password. Constant logging in makes it inefficient and removed the benefit of remote checking

N70%
by N####:

It sucks. I opened the app after downlaod, no registration page, yet it asked for a PW. Unless my installer gave me a PW, and didn't tell me, this app sucks, period

N70%
by N####:

Paid $375 for this.....and it dies nothing. Completely useless.

R70%
by R####:

Totally worthless, all you can do is schedule the test time and date. Can't change run time, or change to run in quiet mode during the test. Doesn't even allow you to change how often you want to run the test. The real rip off is you have to pay for this non service every year or that purchase of the wireless connection just sits there, almost like it does now. Once again don't waste your money, just go out and look at the green light.

W70%
by W####:

The app is basically worthless. 12 hours after the generator has gone into exercise mode I get a text stating this. For a $200 accessory I'd expect something better. Supposedly the generator installers office monitors all the generators with mobile link... Only problem is they won't see the error codes for 12 hours. Very sorry i spent the money on Mobil Link. Will not be renewing.

Alerts are often slow. My generator started today due to an outage. App says generator is running, but didn't give me an alert and doesn't tell me voltage or frequency. Says the generator is off. Alerts have been very slow of late - 15 to 20 minutes behind. This outage was 7 minutes in delay. In my opinion, the app is also very 'fluffy', for lack of a better term. Looks like something a kid would use. It could be so much better. Lose the bubbles. Ugh. EDIT - Revised down to 2 stars. It is nearly useles

The app crashes every time I try to enter my phone number in the settings to receive text alerts. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and the problem continues.

No ability to log maintenance performed. Doesn't serve any purpose.

I love my new whole house generator. But the app and online interface needs some work. No matter what I do the app and website shows a two day discrepancy in the excercise time. The my generator excercises when it is suppose to. It would be nice to be able to make changes using the phone app.

All of the above and for the last two exercise cycles, no alerts at all. (Yes it is set up correctly) Add to this how slow the entire system works and I am seriously considering not renewing my subscription.

It's OK as entry level and not anywhere as intuitive nor informative as many other such remote monitoring devices today, such as the software on my NEST Thermostat.

I got 200+ text from 5am and kept getting them for the same message. Had to uninstall.

R70%
by R####:

New version looks bad and keeps sending me the same message ready to run....over and over

A70%
by A####:

New version constantly (every minute or so) is sending an Inspect Battery message that was cleared over a month ago. Even the logs confirm this as done yet it keeps sending. Will have to uninstall. New version really seems much less intuitive and is somewhat juvenile in appearance. Also when the generator was running the indicators for generator voltage and frequency were shown as OFF even though the standbystatus Web page showed them correctly as on.

Out of the blue. 9 hrs after exercise mode. I started receiving push notifications to inform me it's in exercise mode. Every 30 secs. Only way to stop it was to sign out or uninstall. I uninstalled. Did work great up to this point. No point in renewing my account. Saves a hundred bucks.

R70%

It is user friendly. (Samsung Galaxy S5)

R70%

Messages about generator in exercise mode appears way before I had my generator and no way to delete the messages.

Why would an app want access to my files and know who I am talking to? I think it is just another ease dropping app.

Z70%

I've had server problems from the get go still can't check my status.

Nice to finally have access to the generators information I service when on the road and not behind the PC. The functions of the Mobile Link compared to other monitoring devices is pretty limited. I would like to see the following things added which were submitted previously. 1)Remote start 2)Remote transfer 3)Alert for 24hrs of continuous runtime 4) Map to see the unit locations and which are running.
