Kisah 25 Nabi dan Rosul

Nabi dalam bahasa Arab berasal dari kata naba. Dinamakan Nabi karena mereka adalah orang yang menceritakan suatu berita dan mereka adalah orang yang diberitahu beritanya (lewat wahyu). Sedangkan kata rasul secara bahasa berasal dari kata irsal yang bermakna membimbing atau memberi arahan. Definisi secara syar’i yang masyhur, nabi adalah orang yang mendapatkan wahyu namun tidak diperintahkan untuk menyampaikan sedangkan Rasul adalah orang yang mendapatkan wahyu dalam syari’at dan diperintahkan untuk menyampaikannnya. Dari Abi Zar bahwa Rasulullah S.A.W bersabda ketika ditanya tentang jumlah para nabi, "(Jumlah para nabi itu) adalah seratus dua puluh empat ribu (124.000) nabi." "Lalu berapa jumlah Rasul di antara mereka?" Dia menjawab, "Tiga ratus dua belas (312)" -Hadits riwayat At-Turmuzy- . Akan Tetapi Nabi dan Rasul yang Wajib kita ketahui hanya 25 Nabi dan Rasul saja seperti yang disebutkan dalam kitab Suci Al-Qur'an, yaitu antara lain :
