What are users saying about The Guardian

T70%
by T####:

The new layout sucks. Very heavy fonts. Who came up with the new black and white masthead/logo.

D70%
by D####:

They can't spell but I love them anyway. ♥️

I70%
by I####:

New theme is ugly and I wish I knew what the loudspeaker icon that appears in the bottom right hand corner of the screen does.

T70%
by T####:

I don't always agree with the editorial content but the app works really well. If you can afford it please contribute. Quality news doesn't come cheap.

T70%
by T####:

Have not been using app long but so far it is great. And, good journalists too. Thank you

T70%
by T####:

The Guardian needs to reconsider what breaking news is. The Oscar results are not important enough to send multiple push notifications about.

T70%
by T####:

Visually appealing, no ad distraction, seems to be as much content as the paid version. Would much prefer to pay and support as free is unsustainable. Still pay for the now unsupported subs version. Shame Guardian forced down this loss making route but without journalistic compromise. How long will it last.

F70%
by F####:

Too bad the comment streams "jump" many times during normal use, to the point where following a discussion or participating is unworkable. User's own comments stream also randomly "forget" some comments, even though they exist on the web.

F70%
by F####:

There's probably not a better free app out there ... and not many paid ones either. There's an opportunity to contribute financially - and you should if you can. In a sensible world it would be seen as middle-of-the-road. I find it relevant and quick off the mark

C70%
by C####:

The Guardian is the best, most informative and reliable source of news and events. I particularly enjoy the thoughtful opinion pieces. The readers' comments range from insightful and thought provoking to the myopic and poorly written. I enjoy the ability to add my voice to the cacophony. Reading the Guardian is pleasure, though what I read often makes me sad or angry. For the times we live, the voice of the Guardian is a beacon of freedom. It must never be allowed to be extinguished.

I would be lost without it. Thanks Guardian for keeping me abreast of news plus the quick crossword helps me pretend I'm doing something to fight against early onset dementia. I am one of the lefty metropolitan elite but luckily the Archers keeps me in touch with the rest of the country so I feel I'm getting a balance.

The Feature of Reading the articles Free of cost Makes You feel Very Special as because Getting premium quality of news Without Paying Anything is very rare As Being one of The World's leading News Provider Guardian Is doing It's Job Whole Heartedly And I am Privelege To become a Subscriber Of Guardian. The Whole Hard work Is Delivering the Fruit Which it should

Especially during breaking national & international news events. However, I'm still struggling to find a balance between alerts being too spammy & not spammy enough.

T70%
by T####:

OMG, what am I going to do during my 30 minute lunch break? Please fix the crossword. Happy to support the paper, but having access to crosswords and no ads is a great tradeoff.. although without my access to puzzles it ain't quid pro quo. 21/2/18: Thanks for fixing the crossword!

T70%
by T####:

My first read each morning. The Guardian says it like it is, is right up to date and keeps me in touch with news and opionion. A good variety of columnists ensures there is something for everyone. Really enjoy the comments, biased and unbiased!!

T70%
by T####:

I paid for a subscription mainly so I could have access to the crosswords. Since the recent update, the "selected" crossword clue has black text on a black background, which is beyond useless.

T70%
by T####:

Quick and easy to use. The adverts are small but still a bit annoying. I donated £25 but still the adverts come, beware!

T70%
by T####:

Love this paper BUT PLEASE fix the crossword! As soon as I select a clue it disappears under a black box. PLEASE....... Crossword now fixed.Thank you. 21 Feb 2018

The recent redesign and app update is absolutely awful. My widget won't update news and keeps giving me news which is now a week old. Found previous layout much better.

T70%
by T####:

The articles are great as usual, but unfortunately the crosswords are no longer playable. With the latest update, when I click on a particular clue, it just turns into a solid black bar, therefore unreadable. As they are one of the main reasons I subscribe, I will be cancelling until an update has been issued to fix this problem.

T70%
by T####:

I can't login to my account. After an update, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, I still can't sign-in. The login page is broken. Hey application developers fix the login issues already! I loved the application beforehand. Now due to the fact I can't sign-in, this application is worthless.

W70%
by W####:

This app isnt working any more. Plus all its news is just your average propaganda bull.s.

T70%
by T####:

Very very slow to load especially if no WiFi. Otherwise great. Also has a weird habit of putting world and Australia news in the UK section- can get very confusing!

T70%
by T####:

I previously had the shambolic BBC news app. So what a ray of sunshine this app is. Allows you to edit what news stories you wish to have on your homepage, so everything is just a swipe away. 5 stars.

T70%
by T####:

What a bad decision to suddenly stop supporting Android version of the Guardian Daily edition. I will now cancel my subscription and demand a refund. Maybe you should have rebranded as "iGuardian" to be in line with your new paymasters. Shame on you for not giving us longer notice of this denial of service.

T70%
by T####:

In an age of hyper-partisan news and propaganda the Guardian holds a top tier spot for reliable and honest international reporting. Keep it up!

D70%
by D####:

Love the app. Best newspaper in UK. Just one thing I don't like, why are your articles so long? I find it sometimes very hard to concentrate till the end. You can deliver good news with less text.

B70%
by B####:

Great app just had to adjust phone settings to stop it going off all hours. Update: most used news app. Love it. Preferred the old layout though. Felt warmer.

T70%
by T####:

The white look is really hard on the eyes, what was wrong about the blue look. May cancel my subscription, don't like it at all. Zero Stars! Update 24/2/18 In protest against the new look, I have as promised cancelled my subscription.

T70%
by T####:

The only thing missing since the latest update is the daily briefings. What has happened to them? I've signed up for the email notifications and received nary a one.

T70%
by T####:

You took a Premium Tier subscription payment 2.49 two days ago but now I have to re-subscribe at 4.99. What a swizz. Zero information about this price rise.

X70%
by X####:

Still getting used to the new design but overall love the app. Great for looking at news even when you're not connected to the net

T70%
by T####:

Excellent newsflash notifications. First for breaking news.

T70%
by T####:

It's the only way to wake up. If I had a dog it would miss bringing me the paper in the morning. Saves on dog food too.

T70%
by T####:

Quality fair minded journalism that represents the UK and the world at its best, in the face of right wing bias and fake news.

T70%
by T####:

News for lefty hippies and hipsters. Excellent.

T70%
by T####:

Boundless, informed and erudite. Choose your interests and expect to be entertained. I feel guilty not paying for it.

Q70%
by Q####:

Guardian journalism is certainly among the best, alongside those like NYT, LAT, and WSJ but the thing about guardian is that its free to read, and this app provides the best features for you to enjoy your free reading...

T70%
by T####:

Hi. Why am I unable to zoom as many pictures as I used to. Clicking on most pictures doesn't open in full screen

A70%
by A####:

Reading the Guardian app won't always make you happier, but you will understand the world better and have access to one of the best sources of "true news" available.
