About Quoda Code Editor

Quoda is a sophisticated yet easy to use source code editor or IDE, much like Notepad++, Textmate or Sublime Text, with integrated support for SFTP/FTP(S) servers and cloud storage (Dropbox and Google Drive). Here are some of the best features:

• Syntax highlighting with themes
• Cross-session editing
• Code-completion*
• Snippets* with tabstops and variables
• Extended keyboard
• Find and replace with regex and case (in)sensitivity
• SFTP/FTP(S) integration*
• Dropbox/Google Drive integration*
• Google Apps Script support
• Keybindings
• Live HTML/Markdown Preview* (Tablets)

Other features include downloading URL source code, auto-encoding detection, brace matching, auto-indentation, line bookmarking, colour picker, HTML formatting, and even more - many of these unmatched by other Android IDEs or text editors!

Quoda is continuously being updated with new features. The following are planned to be released soon: GIT support, Box and OneDrive integration, custom themes, import FTP server data from FileZilla, code-completion for all programming languages and more!

* These features require an upgrade to Quoda Premium for only $3.99/£2.49/€4.10.

Quoda has had much focus put into its user experience, so it is an easy to use, fast, responsive and very reliable IDE. Despite its large array of features, it is made as intuitive as possible, so you can develop as productively as possible and focus on the source code.

Quoda currently supports coding in the following programming languages: ActionScript, C, C++, C#, CSS, Haskell, HTML, Java, JavaScript, Lisp, Lua, Markdown, Objective-C, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, SQL, Visual Basic and XML. More programming languages are being added all the time!

If you want to code productively away from your PC, Quoda is a must have, allowing you to carry a text editor and IDE like Notepad++, Textmate or Sublime Text in your pocket to code when on the move!

Nice editor. Very robust. Perfect on a phone. 1 star ONLY because the Settings button (the three vertical dots) is not available on my tablet! It drives me crazzzzzzzzzzyyyyyy! Edit: I added one more star because today I called the settings action explicitly through the adb and was able to open the settings dialog on my tablet. I set the font size successfully. It is annoying not to have settings button visible.

D70%
by D####:

Most free code editors I tried couldn't even load a JavaScript or PHP file, and were practically restricted to Text/HTML/CSS. Not this one. This one instantly opened everything I threw at it. It has a small selection of themes to choose from, light and dark, and good syntax highlighting. Best Android code editor I've found so far.

D70%
by D####:

It used to be able to preview my markdown file on mobile browser, but not now. Not even after i paid for the premium version. WTF?! Although my earlier comment below still applies: I can edit my file locally on my phone, and then save it online through SFTP. What else do you expect for a "quickfix" solution? And, best part yet, it does not need you to register an account for using it. That is the way a code editor should be! Quoda meets this criteria! Some others don't . (I am looking at you, CodeAnyWhere.)

hi bro. can u give base folder setting in localsystem? so tired to open new existing document from localsystem. we must go to root>>internalOrExternalStorage>>DestinationFolder for every document that we want to open. u can wonder if we try to edit code Framework such CI or Yii in PHP. thanks man. This is the best android code editor

D70%
by D####:

Shift + Alt + (arrow keys) do not working as expected, forced close when connecting to SFTP server, code completion need to support all orther language besides HTML only, code blocks fold/unfold, etc

D70%
by D####:

Used to be great, but lately not so much. Can't get it to access SFTP with shared key authentication at all, can't "OPEN" a local file (permission denied error). Not updated since 2014, seems like abandon-ware :(

D70%
by D####:

CAUTION: It looks like the project has been abandoned. It's is out of date and in desperate need of fixing, for example, Markdown preview does not work. Also, when at the bottom of a document and you scroll down, the keyboard pops up! There are a few other, minor issues, but overall, it's good. For now, I have to wave off potential buyers; I can no longer recommend the app. If you want a modern, active text editor, check out 920, it's completely free (ads and cost) and works well.

D70%
by D####:

The auto complete doesnt work. On the tablet the interface is poor as it only gives left option for files. Too many clicks to browse snippets. I can type them faster then where they are located. Those should be on the left plane.

D70%
by D####:

I've payed for this app just to realise that doesn't matter what I do the sftp option just crash with an option to report. What's the use to have this option and I can't use it? Also android reports battery drainage by this app. Developer doesn't reply. The best, really? Uninstalling... how can I rate -10?

O70%
by O####:

I can't preview my web pages in a browser. Even the default is awful. And the font rendering is not stable, as if it has a default font that doesn't change. Worst of all, uses too much memory and battery. It'd be better to separate a paid from free version

M70%
by M####:

Only problem i have with this app whenever i want to preview my .html file in the browser it says unable to open browser. Am i doing something wrong? Or is this a bug?

D70%
by D####:

If you try to find: 2bpartyb(candidates|heros) and replace with: 3rd party 1 or 3rd party $1 it doesn't replace the captured group in the regex. Instead of getting 3rd party heros, you get 3rd party $1, which just ruins your document/code. This is essential. Otherwise RegEx replace is very limited.

D70%
by D####:

the app was working fine last week but today it suddenly gave error on all the php files I upload to ftp. All php files are giving the error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected 'as' (T_AS) on line 1. really too bad.

D70%
by D####:

I paid for the premium version, but still can't edit files over 250 lines long, which renders this pointless for me. Am I missing something, or do I need to restart my phone? Great features, great UI and tools, but loses practicality with a line limit.

C70%
by C####:

First and foremost, good effort. I'll give it that. The scrolling is horrendous. It keeps trying to edit when I swipe to scroll down and view a long page or two of code. Can't Also, no intuitive features that give me suggestions on code fixes or other features like preview code in a live format or browser and whatnot.

E70%
by E####:

If you need SFTP access, forgot about this tool. It does NOT work. i have tried on a couple of my devices and no cigar. DROIDEDIT works though, but I really like some of the features of Quoda. But if the developer won't fix, I can't use.

D70%
by D####:

This editor has great UI, but once you open a big file, you won't be able to use the app again. It hangs when you try to open such a file, and if you force close the app, it will try to open it the next time you start it, making it impossible to use.

D70%
by D####:

But I didn't realize that they were just going to leave it in an alpha state. This piece of crap was abandoned many years ago. Don't waste your time on this trash.

C70%
by C####:

Definitely one of the best I've used. Only thing missing is support for Classic ASP / VBScript syntax. Old technology I know, but there are still a lot of websites out there.

D70%
by D####:

I tried a couple others and this is the best code editor. I felt like the pro version was worth it. Only thing, i connected to a SFTP server and it keeps crashing the app. Not sure why. Everything else is phenomenal. hoping an update in the future will fix this problem.

D70%
by D####:

My main problem with this now, there's no way to un-indent blocks of code. How can you edit code properly if you can't unindent? Also it's missing support for Control-G (Find Next). Other than that, it works pretty well. I'm surprised Google doesn't bundle Geany or Gedit with Android, that would be easier than reinventing the wheel.

Y70%
by Y####:

The best Editor for most languages with easy to use the most useful shortcut with organized tags and coding - including perfect tab spaces (unlike other apps).

G70%
by G####:

this is really annoying, just bought, galaxy tab s2 and android 5.0.2, added a sftp server, successful connection test but then crashing at any connection attempt. fix it please and keep me up to date . i filed two bug report.

Y70%
by Y####:

Can't find where the code snippets are stored. It means I will face issues backing up my own snippets.

Y70%
by Y####:

Disadvantage of the most mobile code editor is lack of preview. Here it works but need some bugs fixed and upgrade(only app engine preview works, preview in browser like chrome doesn't work).

Y70%
by Y####:

Great program overall. Like to see a visual editor feater as well as stylelayout and or sheets and file formatts such as html 4.0 terditional and some of the previous and the. Current formats. Thank you.

J70%
by J####:

The only problem I have is that when I open Quoda after updating code externally, any files I have open from a previous session are still the cached version. This can lead to accidentally editing a cached file and saving it over an updated version with no warnings. Still, the best code editor I've found for Android. Has a few kinks to work out, but is already far better than competing products.

K70%
by K####:

I would give this 5 stars of I could preview the files stored on my device in the browser but I can only preview files in the browser that I access from Dropbox. I've got other similar apps and none of them handle previewing very well. I would also like it if this app had multi window capabilites.

W70%
by W####:

man this editor is awesome, and I even purchased it. but 1 complaint. I use swift keyboard, and the editor disables swift spelling autocorrecting. it's very annoying. could you get them to work together? so that swift autocorrecting can work inside of the editor.

K70%
by K####:

As others have stated, I'm limiting.out on the number of lines in the files that I'm trying to edit remotely. I'm guessing this is a limiting feature to force me to buy the paid version... Not sure though so I won't be dropping the $3 for the full version just in case this is a bug. It's kind of a deal breaker not being able to edit the files....

D70%
by D####:

I try to edit remotely by using a ftp. It just give me a 184 line of my .CSS file. Be careful before saving any file because it can easily destroy your valuable data that you spent a lot of time on it. There was no any warning about the limitations.

Hopefully developers received my hourly crash reports on startup as last fix not working fully. Would like to have option to Swype

D70%

I love the auto system but its missing more. It needs to recognize the html tags and auto close it rather than the pop out menu its kinda annoying sorry and I want it to have a setting to edit the key sysmbol keyboard so I can easily switch from what language Im editing. The bugs are when I want to preview it using the app it does not apply all my css external file tags it freeze/stop the update when there is a new update in the external file and when I want it to preview in my browser I doesnt view at it.

D70%
by D####:

I like this editor a lot. There seems to be a good number of options and it is pretty nice to look at, but I can't access SFTP at all, which is the sole purpose for me getting this app. If I test my server it can connect, but if I actually try to access SFTP to pull files from my server the whole app crashes. I hope there is a fix in the works!

Freezes when trying to open 4k lines text file... I can't imagine if it was really "large" file...Not good for source editing, maybe OK for notes.

Computer and inverter can stay home on road trips now. I love the ftp interface, its better than my computers. First app I've seen that works to edit code files in drive at all. The where, when and how I develop has completely changed since I stumbled on this app.

H70%
by H####:

I love Quoda from the first sighting. Enables me edit and update my code live from the server on the go. It's cute. It works much more like Notepad++. However, one thing I would have loved it to accomplish (which is why I like Adobe Dreamweaver a lot on the PC) is code validation. dreamweaver tracks your code each line of the type and notifies you when you go out of syntax or any such capable of causing run-time error. I would give you a 5 if you could implement this. But you got my thumbs-up despite that.... Lovely clean app

T70%
by T####:

The paid version is a must, built in FTP, code completion, and syntax highlighting is almost perfect. Quick access to special keys like <>{}/ too. Its actually better than many desktop code editors!

D70%
by D####:

For the makers, Sometimes I have problems with the you known the quick preview.Sometimes it shows sometimes it doesn't show stuff (I maybe mistakened) but this is a great app soon I'm going to get the premium version soon I really would advise this app for new to programing people. That's what I used to be until I got Quoda and used ;-) Please reply to me if I don't have something correct I really don't viewers to know the wrong things.

This has been a know issue according to the developers response of a review in December. It's April now and still no fix for the crash.. Would really like to start using this app.
