Cookeville is one of the fastest growing Micropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) in the United States, consisting of Putnam, Overton and Jackson counties. In addition to its principal city of Cookeville, other incorporated municipalities within the MSA include Algood, Baxter and Monterey (Putnam), Gainesboro (Jackson) and Livingston (Overton).
