The app didn't seem to respect that my device is locked in portrait mode. And it would really make more sense to have the the cards pop up right face up. The infinite deck and maintain hand options would work better in the general options menu in my opinion. Beyond these little nitpicks. Great stuff!

Surprised to see how easy to use it is. Launched it for the first time and was presented with a well thought set of defaults. Drawing the cards is quick, there's an animation that changes if the deck is infinite or not. Had a good laugh when I noticed some cards were upside-down. Also, I liked how you can associate skills to a deck? Updating my review to 5 stars as the developer quickly fixed all bugs right after reporting :)

Very cool, but adding points to the skill tree should be in the help file.

Doesn't work on the S3, yet.

The perfect card app for fate

This app has a surprising depth to it. When you "make your own deck", you get to name it *and* label skills/approaches, along with assign values to it. This allows you to say that your "Athletics" skill for character is at +3, for example. Then, when you draw a card, it will not only show you the card, but also tell you the result of that Athletics skill check immediately. And that's just one of its uses. My first reaction was "$3 for an app to draw a card from a deck? Meh, I like Evil Hat, though, so I'll do it." Now that I've played with it a bit, my reaction is "$3 for this? If I had known all of the features it had in advance, I'd have paid $5!" The only lack I see is that, when making a custom deck, you can't assign your own card backs. This would let you have a specific design for specific characters, and make the app a full 5 stars,

It's not a bad first effort, possibly a bit overpriced for what it offers over the many die rollers out there. I suspect that is due to the art assets. I found the skill side scroller a hassle. The top bar is really tiny and difficult to hit consistently. I see no reason why when using a skill it slowly types out the result. Mostly it is now in a partially baked state, thus I expect it to be better in the future.

I admit to being a long time fan of Evil Hat and the Fate system. This is going to be a great asset to my game. Now to find time to play with it.

Hidden Achievement makes great products. The art is great and as a heavy fate player the aspects provided are varied and well done.

This app is a great way of carrying around a Deck of Fate without having to handle physical cards. It's great for when you've forgotten your dice or you're gaming in a situation where dice (and even cards) are inconvenient to use, like a LARP. The app provides lots of options for customizing your decks, and enables you to draw from all three of the component decks; the dice cards, the Fate Core arcana, and the FAE Arcana. There are also plenty of options for how draws work. You can have it draw infinitely, reshuffling the deck each time so that the deck perfectly mimics a roll of 4DF each time, or you can have it pull you a hand of cards that you can play from. You can even tell the app whether to always pull cards the right way up or have some upside down, allowing tarot-like inverted draws from the deck. Perhaps the most useful feature is that you can set up a custom deck with a skill (or approach) profile for each of your characters, whereupon the app will draw a card, add the result to the skill you chose, and give you the final result. Great for at-a-glance resolution. The app has sound effects for drawing and shuffling, though these can be turned off.

Surprised to see how easy to use it is. Launched it for the first time and was presented with a well thought set of defaults. Drawing the cards is quick, there'san animation that changes if the deck is infinite or not. Had a good laugh when I noticed some cards were upside-down. Also, I liked how you can associate skills. To a deck. There are still some glitches... Rotating the screen twice will mess up with the size of the cards. And when in infinite mode, this will make the current card disappear!

The application feels that the designers understood how FATE players will want to use it. So alongside the Fate Core Default skill profile you can copy and tweak it accordingly or enter your own skill names from scratch. I also liked the fact you can make the cards shuffle back into the deck, giving you an infinite deck plus gives you the same odds each time as it does with dice. There is a togglable card turning sound effect which also has a volume control that can allow it to be a little louder. The application also has a comprehensive help section that is baked-in that explains all of the components in a detailed manner. Not having to visit a website to discover how an app works is a bonus. Nice to haves. 1) I'd like to see a toggleable option that allows the application to stop a device from locking so that you don't have to keep unlocking your phone or tablet before you can draw a card. 2) I hope that your custom skill profiles will have cloud or export support in the future so that I can transfer them to other devices or share them with other players of my game. That said this is version 1.0.0 so we'll have to see what changes come with future updates.

Very practical way to use the Deck of FATE cards at the table. Especially like the infinite deck option for dice cards. Another nice feature: being able to set up customized skill decks for different players or for different purposes. If you get a little lost in the app or wonder how to use certain features, the help option is a good guide. Some suggestions for improvements: facility to modify the deck (new aspects, art, descriptions, import deck sets from other games, ect). But all in all, a great start and instantly useful.

Good functionality. Creating your own skill lists and decks is cool. Allowing you to draw for a given skill is useful. A good prop for a fate game.

This app is an excellent digital adaptation of the physical Deck of Fate cards. Extremely easy to use and customize for your Fate & FAE characters. You can choose how you play: from a hand of cards or draw one-at-a-time. Combine the three sub-decks or use them individually. This is a must-have app for any Fate or Fudge player.

Beautiful, simple, intuitive design. I was surprised at the breadth of features and how the designers anticipated several usage scenarios (custom decks, custom skill and approach lists, etc) that I had not even considered. Totally satisfied with the purchase and can't wait to bring it to the table.

While I've heard the app is lovely, and I was excited for it's release, it doesn't load on the s3 by all accounts I've seen. Hopefully they can fix the issue, but otherwise, I wouldn't pay the $3 if you have an old OS.

Superb (+5) App! It's an instant Deck of Fate on my phone that can be shuffled in an split second. What's not to love?

T70%

This is the Deck of Fate and Fate dice roller you've been waiting for; it's beautiful, customizable, and fast.

T70%
by T####:

A solid app. Compared to the price for the actual, physical, deck of cards it's a steal. Some very nice options, like pre-loading characters and their stats or maintaining a hand of cards but it can be a little cumbersome to switch between skills or, if you're the GM, characters on short notice.

A70%
by A####:

Nice implementation. Assets look good on larger displays. I wish you could bring back drawn cards for viewing after drawing them, but not a major issue.

Really beautiful art and the deck works well. I haven't even made a custom one yet!
