About Hash Droid

Hash Droid is a free utility to calculate a hash from a given text or from a file stored on the device.

In this application, the available hash functions are : Adler-32, CRC-32, Haval-128, MD2, MD4, MD5, RIPEMD-128, RIPEMD-160, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384, SHA-512, Tiger and Whirlpool.
The calculated hash can be copied to the clipboard to be reused elsewhere.

The first tab enables to calculate the hash of a given string.
The second tab helps you to compute the hash of a file located on the internal or external memory of your device. The size of the file and the last date modified are also displayed.
The last feature helps you to compare the calculated hash with another given hash but more generally, you can compare any hashes by just pasting them.

A hash (also called checksum or digest) is a digital fingerprint, uniquely identifying a string or a file.
Hash functions are often used in cryptography to generate strong passwords. They are also employed to check the integrity of files.
Hash Droid is often used to check an Android ROM before flashing it.

What are users saying about Hash Droid

It calculates hashes. It is good. The interface is too simple and inconvenient. This is bad. I would like to see a simple way (one click on a file) to compare the file hash with the one in the copy buffer. Instead I have to switch back and forth between two tabs and perform additional operations with the buffer.

I've been using this app for a long time and it has always been great. Right now it seems to have a problem reading files on nougat

O70%
by O####:

Useless. Can't select any file to hash. OnePlus 3T 128 GB / Nougat 7.0 / Oxygen 4.0.1. Error "! cannot be read !".

C70%
by C####:

Just show "cannot be read" when using hash a file. I'm using latedt lineage OS with encrypted phone IF it matters. Please fix this issue.

Tiny, and awesome. I wanted an app that calculates multiple hash algorithms on files, and this one was so tiny in size that I didn't even hesitate to install it. Just something to keep in my Toolbox, very handy indeed! Suggested features: calculating multiple hashes (algorithms) in a single pass, that would make it faster to check both SHA and md5 I think? (your algorithms would need to be tweaked I guess?). Also: multiple files in a single directory. Printing a list of files with the hash of each one (like the Linux md5sum utility) is a great way to see duplicates, and to check if all files in a folder have been properly transmitted for example. You're doing amazing already, those are just suggested improvements. Stay awesome!

When I click the button to choose a file to check, it errors with "Cannot be read". Doesn't even let me cost the file. Makes it nearly useless.

C70%
by C####:

It doesn't allow me to select a file to compute the hash for. It considers a match if the 2 text boxes in the Compare Hashes tab are empty.

by M####:

Didn't work on nougat. Lineage os 7.1.2 on xiaomi mi5. Had storage access permissions but failed to access storage to hash file

I70%
by I####:

It's compact, does the job and doesn't have ads.

C70%
by C####:

Storage permission is granted, but it simply can't read any file to hash from local storage ('cannot be read' error).

C70%
by C####:

Was great before. Will revise rating upward when Nougat issues are resolved.

Thanks developer for this great app! Still works well like old Swiss watch :)

U70%

Excellent. Simple interface. Does what it says. A textbox could be added to the filehashing tab to compare it with provided one. A timer would be bonus to compare speed.

C70%

I don't know how to use

Great, it would be good it if had a brute force option. But that's just me :p

C70%

Great app. But can't select files on Android 7.1.

C70%
by C####:

Cant access files in android nougat. No use at all.

C70%
by C####:

Would be four stars, if it supported SHA3 or SHA224. Also, no longer hashes files.

C70%
by C####:

Can't even open file explorer

C70%

Can't select file.

C70%

Can't select files on Nougat. But best hash app.

G70%

Good work broh! Include more hashes!

K70%

Minimal design and extremely useful !

C70%

Best app for checking md5

C70%
by C####:

Does what it says nicely!

C70%
by C####:

Nice lightweight app that performs slickly and without fuss or complications. Far more hash functions available than some similar apps, so definitely gets 5 stars from me! HTC One M9; Marshmallow/Sense 7.0; rooted.

C70%
by C####:

However, it would be nice if the app could: 1) Calculate the hash of files/folders sent from other apps (maybe as command line parameter); 2) Remember selected options. // v3.3: when changing from one page to other, the first one does not vanish and overlaps the next.

Not working on 6p on Android 7.0. says can't read file. I checked permission. Thank you.
