About Sensitive Altimeter

A mobile device with internal barometric sensor can work as an altimeter, applying the method used in aviation instruments. This app computes altitude from the entered base pressure and the sensor data, showing the result on a digital or three-pointer dial indicator.
Automatic adjustment uses altimeter settings in weather observation data downloaded from NOAA site.
Altitude information from satellite navigation systems is not used by this app.

Barometric sensors in many devices are not calibrated. In this case, sensor reading correction must be configured in the app settings.

Sensitive Altimeter is absolutely free, it will not display ads or collect personal data. Internet connection is used only for station database update and downloading weather observation data.

For more information, see the project page.

Really useful. Biggest issue is picking up weather data so I often find it useful to set a known altitude or pressure before beginning a hike

But I would like the altitude in m.

This app is definitely I would recommend it, the developer did an awesome job!

C70%
by C####:

Brilliant! Collects no data. Needs no permissions.

Once I had tweaked the calibration, the altimeter responded and followed exactly the one in my aircraft. Many thanks Ivan. You should have a donate button.

The app looked great at first, but once I adjusted it manually there was no way to get it back to reading automatic. Also, I could not figure out how to change it to a digital readout like the screen shots indicate is possible. Potential is there! *edit I discovered you also need to download the weather station app to obtain proper readings. That corrected it! Still not sure what barometric pressure readings have to do with altimeter readings but doesn't mean it can't work!

I've used this app since I had the Nexus 4, then the Nexus 5, and now I'm still using it on my LG G4. I love it, it's the best app out there for barometric altitude readings. Download the variometer from this developer as well, it's a great complement to this app.

Great update!. Nice to see digital readout on the same screen as the analogue readout. One great addition (please) would be a button on the screen to reset the altitude to zero so that we can use this app to calculate relative height. That would be great.

B70%
by B####:

This is the only consistently accurate altimeter I've found (thanks to the correction factor needed to correct the barometer in my S4 as well as the airport codes to keep up with sea level pressure changes). Only gripe is the difficulty in changing between screen options. Why not just show the digital altitude readout beside the dial? Oh, and what is the striped part for?

Says it can't find weather data. I tried to set it to kmci but wouldn't get data. Worthless, uninstalling

Only dial screen can be seen. You can change; pressure seatings, pressure unit and station needed to get the information that has to be compared with your sensor. You can press anywhere else on the screen, as long as you want, nothing happens or change. Except you can move the dials around. It was the same after reinstalling.

When I couldn't find the app's settings button on my Galaxy S5, I wrote and got a quick reply from the author. Open the app settings with a long press of the multitasking button. Sensitive Altimeter is much more accurate for altitude than the GPS-based reading in Google My Tracks app.

I have no practical use for this, but that doesn't stop me from using it all the time, easy lay out and simple to use.

What a handy app and accurate too! Used on Galaxy Note.

Best altimeter app ever! As a pilot I find the aviation linkage very nice indeed. That it then works solid is just a bonus.

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Very handy.

Downloaded this - needed to ask the developer a question and received an email back within the hour. Not much more can be said except "well done" to the developer and wish him well.

+ It's got the looks. + It downloads QNH data based on the airport codes You choose. + It doesn't need GPS location or any other location data. + It has a nice little "reset to standard pressure" button. + It's available for everyone, unlike some other altimeters that say "this app is not available in your country" when you try to install them. Great app!

Great app. Simple as advertised. Auto station correct wasn't working. Saw a note on initial install of how to address this NOAA station issues but could not get back to find that patch/fix. Anyway I will figure it out and it is a great app

Yesterday I installed Sensitive Altimeter. Everything in the app looked good, but a key feature was missing. Over the past few years when using my Thommen altimeter, I would calibrate the unit at the trailhead and periodically check the displayed elevation against the elevation at a known location; trail junction, summit, etc. If atmospheric pressure had changed, the displayed elevation wouldn’t agree with the known elevation, but it’s very easy to re-calibrate. The ability to directly input a known eleva

This works well on my Samsung GS3, I use this for aviation as well as outdoor recreation. It would be nice to know the density altitude as well, but the app is already great as is.

It just keeps getting better. Barometric altimeter with a calibration feature. Calibration is done by grabbing the barometer reading from the weather stations we choose. Works perfectly on my Razr HD.
