About Daily Prayer

Mission St. Clare has provided the daily office online since 1995. Using the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, Mission St. Clare provides complete services of the daily office to its many users. Mission St. Clare assembles the Daily office by integrating feast day information, daily readings, a cycle of prayer, and weekly collects into the services of Morning and Evening prayer. Mission St. Clare was one of the first online sites dedicated to bringing the daily office to people and is now available on your Phone and Tablet. The mission of Mission St. Clare is to facilitate the use of the daily office and allowing its users to focus on developing a life of daily prayer.

The App opens to a main page with links to today's Morning and Evening prayer services in English and Spanish. At the bottom of the page you will find the option to view yesterday's or tomorrow's services instead. Clicking on a link to one of the services opens the entire service in a scrollable window. (Hint: the cross at the top of the window is the back button).

On the main page you will also find a "Share" button. Pressing this button loads the last service you viewed into an email message for you to edit and send to a friend.

The "Contact Us" button provides you with a convenient way to email Mission St. Clare with your suggestions, corrections, and offers to help further develop this App and the Mission St. Clare website.

It's a little better than the previous Mission St. Claire ("Daily Office") app by Rev Richardson. It certainly looks less terrible. They've added Noonday and Compline, which is nice. However, the English and Spanish are intermixed, which is disorienting. I'd think that you could separate them by columns and things would make a lot of sense. Yesterday/Tomorrow buttons are bigger, which means they can now be used by people whose fingers are larger than pencil tips; that's a plus. The text wrapping is still a little over-conservative. Switching between portrait and landscape still re-freshes the entire page instead of just reflowing, which resets your position in the page to the top. Definitely an app to disable auto-rotate for. ---- Content is (usually) great, although sometimes someone is over zealous with the you->thou auto-replace in the Psalms and we read about "thoung lions". ---- I just noticed the screenshots. I guess they're for the tablet? They look much better than what you get on the phone.

I would like to see a Table of Contents as on the website. And the font is a bit small. Well done though on a great app!
