CAMRA's Good Beer Guide

After the good start, app not really improved. Searching is a fail. Postcodes find nothing even though gbg pubs are within 5 miles. Town/City search only returns pub names that are matching. The app seems to be flopping around. All online gbg users wanted was an improved Grenius app. This currently isn't working. A working search is a must have, why wasnt this tested at-all in v. 1.2.10? A while ago we received an email canning a successor to the Grenius app, I think it maybe time to resend that email. Cant even renew my subscription, and so down to miserable one star.

Bring back the old app - this one is a pain Searches start by requiring location. But there are two problems - 1. Location doesn't work indoors. 2. Location is often irrelevant. I've just been trying to find a pub 200 miles away; my current whereabouts should make zero difference. I'm going to stick with the old app until this one gets a sensible upgrade.

The search function does seem to have improved, but is still poor compared to the Greenius app. At a push, I might find it just about useable. However, one thing that has really disappointed me is that the information from the old app has been carried forward in a useless form. I now have many hundred 'posts' telling me I have visited a particular pub, but no way (that I can see) to attach that to the pub's actual entry. Ditto the notes with dates, prices etc that I have made over the six years of using the Greenius app. Not impressed, but fortunately the old app is still working.

Cannot set up the subscription, keeps saying payment error. Tried several cards and i know the google password is correct. Even reset it to be sure and still fails repeatedly. This app is like a pub with no beer.... Pointless

How bad is this app. On first install I was told my subscription from the app it was replacing would carry over to this one. That didn't happen and as I had only renewed my subscription a few days previously it has cost me double this year. On top of that the location doesn't work, beers are listed twice in each brewery but have no tasting notes. None of my comments or reviews on pubs, beers and breweries from the previous app have carried over. That's just the tip of the iceberg. All we needed for an improved app was the previous one with WhatPub integration. If I could give it no stars I would. Absolutely useless and a waste of money.

Supposed to be an improvement on the old app... its so bad and not a patch on the old one. So user unfriendly and lost the ability to keep all the pubs visited unless you post a visit. Doesnt recognise searches including London!!! And the pubs near tubes and stations was handy... if i could give it 0 i would!!! Waste of £4.99.

A shaky start, but the app has got better. Google maps sometimes not loading correctly, e.g. after checking details of a pub then going back to the map. Happily search working ok now.

Search is rubbish, seems to get confused and tells there is no filtered result - when I've not used a filter. Don't like the non ability just to 'tick' a pub - you have to write a comment. The old app was better in these respects. I do like the online record keeping.

I was pleased to upgrade as the old app had misdirected me to wrong addresses of a couple of pubs. This one initially looks O.K. but when I tried to subscribe it gave an error which did not give any indication as to the problem or any way of editing subscriber details.

Back down to 1 star, unable to get location, even though Google maps gets it instantly. Useless. The orange font/background is hard to read in low light.

This new app is utterly useless. Unable to search other than present location. I agree with other comments. I just hope the old app continues to be supported as it is vastly superior. In fact the old app is excellent and does exactly what is required. I'll continue to use it.

I purchased a subscription to the old app which which could not be carried over meaning I have lost out on 5 months worth of subscription. On contacting developers I was told I had not subscribed since 2014. This is not true as I had paid every year since the subscription was introduced as I found it more useful than a physical copy of the GBG. Despite providing evidence of payment in Feb 2016,I was denied the ability to carry this across to the new app. Due to the way my complaint has been handled I therefore have no interest in paying again for this one and am considering if my CAMRA membership is actually worth shelling out for too.

Not fit for purpose. How can you release an app that clearly hasn't been tested. Shocking work CAMRA

Just cancelled subscription because this is probably the least user friendly app I have ever used, useless. Bring back the previous one, it worked well. Camra needs a good kick up the a**e for bringing out this app.

A poor show can't even sign up. Try reinstalling but still didn't work. I think I will stay with the old one as works fine for me.

Hopeless, why on earth was it released with such poor search functionality? If you are a 'boss' in CAMRA get your money back off the guys who wrote this app for you.

At first glance I was tempted to rate at 3 stars but until it compares favourably with the physical GBG as a way to find and record pub visits, it has to stay at 2, and only just! I went on my first short pub crawl since installing, and it wasn't a pleasant experience. 1) Finding pubs by a short post code appears to be impossible 2) I cannot see which pubs I have visited on the search results list 3) The list of beers is substantially poorer than (American app) Untappd 4) The details of, not even, my last visit are not included on the pub details page 5) There is no option to search for pubs I have visited. For all it's faults, the old app at least made a reasonable job of being an alternative to the "real" GBG. At the moment, this version does not come close to the usability of either the printed book or the old app.

Disappointed that I can no longer search an area for GBG pubs before arrival. I find it highly unlikely that there are no GBG pubs in Norwich but alas I cannot check this (or plan a post beer festival route) before arrival.

Rocky start but rapid improvement over the last couple of releases (current version 1.2.10). Does what's important to me ok now. (Note: had to uninstall and reinstall app to get search working ok on a previous release.)

New app looks good but doesn't work. Just selecting one filter causes an error every time. Very frustrating.

Terrible search function. Wants your location on and when you finally get results it tells me my town only has 1 gbg pub. Should be 5 or 6. Nonsense. Wont be renewing. Waste of money

Much better that comments suggest. Very different from old app but spend a little time to learn how it works. As a first iteration of a new app a good attempt I look forward to it improving.

New app is terrible. The whole interface is non user friendly and the search facilities are a step backwards. I used to use the old app all the time, so this is a real shame.

Demands a subscription to access features but will not accept any payment for the subscription, rendering the whole thing completely useless. Total waste of time and space.

Not a patch on the old app. Change for change sake it appears. I've bought this app for the last 3 years but not going to buy it again. I've also lost all my pubs visited and personal reviews. Extremely disappointed.

This started off bad but is even worse now the information coming from WhatPub is out of date even though the website is up to date.

If you want to search by pub name it works ok, but most of the time I want to search by a location and this is far less intuitive than it was and is now a two stage process.

Since the last update the location issue seems to be fixed, however the scanning of the pump clips is still not working. This issue needs fixing.

Update. At last this app has been fixed and is actually working as it should. Previous problems with the search function are gone, and it is now fine. At last!

Search does not work, also location does not work. Bring back old app

I paid for the latest update on Apple pay only to be told when I logged on to camra! Good beer guide to see more results you must be subscribed and buy subscription which I have all ready done what a joke

Terrible. Can we please have the previous version back. Searching is poor, no map feature that I found, doesnt seem to find your location, very user unfriendly. I paid my subscription on the old version which worked with a new phone I can't go back. Bad... come on CAMRA sort it.

App says subscribe to see more results when searching, I have two weeks left of my subscription, what gives camra? Bring back the 'pub/brewery visited' option

V 1.2.10 Previous issues appear to have been fixed; app now picks up your location automatically as soon as you open it, can also do location searches (it is not immediately obvious how to do this, but a bit of fiddling and you should be right). Moto G5, Android 7.0.

Absolutely useless. No search, no maps. Not a patch on previous versions. Please go back to Greenius.

Truly awful, doesn't seem to work on my motto g5, unable to search, doesn't say much for whoever thought this better than the old version

Poor version of the old one. Only carried over a fraction of.my previously visited pubs.

I think this is a huge improvement over the old app. Not sure why people are moaning so much but there may be a high resistance to change among Camra's demographic.

Very poor. Frustrating interface. All about looks and no substance.
