Green Facades (Alpha)

This app is currently in early release alpha, and as such it is still heavily in development. Some features may not work properly. Take a look at the repository to see the current status of development.

Green Facades is meant to be used as an educational tool for those with an interest in green facades. It is meant to provide unified information about both past and current green facades research integrated into a taxonomy to follow design guidelines, strategies, and sustainable education. You can select your parameters and get a research based design recommendation based on your preferences.

The app provides a list of the USDA Zones used for agricultural research. The user then selects a zone that most closely corresponds to their location, or the location in which they wish to grow. The user is then presented with a list of parameters such as plant life expectancy, cost of maintenance, and energy savings possibilities.

Through an integration with the Parse database, the app then searches through the server to retrieve the information of both plants and available systems for vegetation growth.

Although this feature is still in progress, the user will then be able to save the plants they like to a list of their "Favorites".

The app also provides previous case studies performed on different Green Facades systems. The user may also add their own case studies, which are saved locally.

Lastly, the app provides the list of references used to create the tool, as well as a disclaimer by the University of Southern California's School of Architecture for the use of copyrighted material for educational purposes.
