Oracion a Santa Filomena

"Yo soy la hija de un príncipe que gobernaba un pequeño estado de Grecia. Mi madre era también de la realeza. Ellos no tenían niños. Eran idólatras y continuamente ofrecían oraciones y sacrificios a sus falsos dioses. Un doctor de Roma llamado Publio vivía en el palacio al servicio de mi padre. Este doctor se había convertido al cristianismo. Viendo la aflicción de mis padres y por un impulso del Espíritu Santo, les habló acerca de nuestra fe y les prometió orar por ellos si consentían en bautizarse. La gracia que acompañaba sus palabras iluminó el entendimiento de mis padres y triunfó sobre su voluntad. Se hicieron cristianos y obtuvieron su esperado deseo de tener hijos.

Al momento de nacer, me pusieron el nombre de Lumena, aludiendo a la luz de la fe, de la cual yo era fruto. El día de mi bautismo me llamaron Filumena, hija de la luz (filia luminis), porque en ese día había nacido a la fe. Mis padres me tenían gran cariño y siempre me tenían con ellos. Por eso me llevaron a Roma en un viaje que mi padre tuvo que hacer debido a una guerra injusta. "I am the daughter of a prince who ruled a small state of Greece. My mother was also royalty. At birth, they put the name of Lumena, referring to the light of faith, of which I was the result. The day of my baptism they called me Filumena, daughter of light (luminis philia), because on that day he was born to the faith. My parents had me great love and always have me with them. That's why I was taken to Rome on a journey that my father had to do because of an unjust war.
