About ROM Manager

ROM Manager is THE MUST HAVE APP for any Android root user. (Over 10 million downloads and counting!)

* Flash your recovery to the latest and greatest ClockworkMod recovery.
* Manage your ROMs via a handy UI.
* Organize and perform backups and restores from within Android!
* Install ROMs from your SD card.
* Install your favorite ROMs over the air!

Premium Version:
* Incremental update zips (save your data plan!)
* Premium ROMs
* Receive notifications for when your ROM is updated!
* Automatic backups
* Install Queue
* Web Connect
* Backup Download Server lets you easily transfer backups as flashable zips to your computer.

Do you prefer using only recovery manually? Check out the Touch Recovery in app purchase, for the most advanced recovery available!

Why does ROM Manager ask for account permissions?
Web Connect only needs to access your Google account to connect it to your google account. It can't access any private data or passwords.

ClockworkMod Touch Recovery:
ClockworkMod Touch recovery (and recovery) is work that needs to put in for every new device that is released by a manufacturer.
If work on ROM Manager ceased completely, all the premium features would continue working without issue. However, new recoveries do not port and build themselves. Without ClockworkMod Touch being a per device purchase, there is no way to recoup recurring server costs and labor. Keeping ROM Manager free and operational costs tens of thousands of dollars a year, and that does not include engineering costs.
Your support is appreciated.

Troubleshooting:
Droid users: Stuck at the "M" logo? Flash an alternate recovery and flash back to ClockworkMod.
HTC Users: Flash recovery not working? Try fastbooting a recovery on.
Droid X/2/Pro Users: You must run the Bootstrap application first to use ROM Manager.
Samsung users: You must flash a Clockwork compatible kernel first (see XDA forums)

Only rom manager that helps me with my mom's wave 8 table. Now I'm recovering my app data extracted from samsung tab 3. Few seconds of download over days of stress ^^ 100 stars if I can

N70%
by N####:

I rate one star because the ratings is only 1 to 5 star. But if this is from to 0 - 100, then, I will score this as '0'. It is not working. When I try to flash my ROM, I get stuck at 100% flashing. I wait for 10mins and still i am stuck. I repeat flashing again and still I am stuck. So, this one is worthless.

I think this clockworkmod guy went in depression... I installed the actual rom version on my phone and went an saw an update that said (only current working for ******) so I went and installed it. Know what?! It was a damage version that actually blocked me from doing my everyday things in my phone... I was like three weeks without been able to actually use it until I founded a way to get rid of that crap..

This app does exactly what its supposed to do. All these people with terrible reviews have no idea what they are doing in the first place! Do your research, properly unlock your bootloader, root your phone, then come back and you will realize this app is pretty good! :)

GREAT! My only suggestion would be to combine the "Premium" version and the IAP of the "Touch" mode of CWM recovery. I purchased the premiuim version a while ago and was confused when asked to pay for the "touch" version of the CWM recovery. I had no problem paying for it, I just would have thought it would have been included in the premium purchase.

Has problems with most newer devices where JRummy's ROM Installer (and TWRP) don't. Developer has seemingly abandoned this and AllCast in terms of substantive updates and bug fixes. I suggest using ROM Installer and LocalCast instead.

Don't waste you time installing this app. 2 years ago it was one of the apps to use. Now it's just massivly out of date. I asked the dev to contact me 2 years ago and in still waiting. This should be taken down

I had installed cm11 on my mipad. But after a while lots of bugs started creeping up in cm11 so i wanted to restore back to miui. However, cwm was showing error mounting sd card. I tried everything but couldn't solve the error. Then i found this app and VOILA it worked like a charm and installed global miui rom without any glitches. ONCE AGAIN THANK YOU AND STUNNING APP.

So far, I was able to play around with a few different roms on my old phone. Fun stuff. Installing (flashing) new roms was flawless. When I got stuck with a rom that didn't work, Rom Manager saved my day by letting me get into bootloader and go flash again, back to a rom that was know to work. Two thumbs up to the team that keeps this app going.

I noticed that in the CWMT version that there is no option in advanced to 'calibrate battery'. Was wondering if it was removed for a reason? Or you forgot to add the script? :D other ways to do it of course but it was nice to have in the recovery. Will re star with a reply.

The one; the only. These guys are some of the smartest devs in the industry. If Android was meant to be opened then CLOCKWORKMOD was meant to open it. UPDATE: No longer maintained like it once was in my 2012 original review.

U70%

I can't help but notice Clockworkmod doesn't have a "Top Developer" tag even though it is used by more than ten million people. Is this Google playing favorites and punishing modders?

M70%

Unfortunately, all ROM backups performed via this program fail to be restored via this program due to a failure of the checksum which this program created. It is unacceptable that this program creates a checksum for the file which this program does not see as valid. Either there is a problem in the creation of the checksum where there is a problem in the validation of the checksum either way, it is the same program making and validating which fails

MetroPCS locks their bootloader and even if rooted and you unlock, this will never work. This app will soft brick devices that can not use recovery. That means anyone on MetroPCS that attempts to use better be ready for bootloader loops. Remove battery or hold down volume and power then reset phone. Sucks not being able to flash roms or customize even with root access.

X70%
by X####:

So why 3 stars. because you cant see any rom updates,even if any arent available. come on. if you want people to pony up, at least show them what they might want. why make me go to google to find something i might instead pay you to make it easier.

X70%
by X####:

This app seems to be just a wrapper trying to sell you an in app purchase. It downloads something and if you chose not to buy whatever BS their selling the alternative just fails out. Better off just doing all this manually

S70%
by S####:

Free users can no longer move a backup file from their phone to their desktop without a USB cable (and if you're going to use a USB cable, there are easier ways to create a backup). Kind of defeats the purpose of a backup if it's stuck on the phone.

Was excited to use app as the video even helped me learn other things abut rooting etc. But while the Rom manager is compatible the clock work mod program is not and can't run one without the other?!! that makes no sense!!!

W70%

I think other projects have deprecated this app. Between TWRP, Cyangen Delta and Cyanogenmod's built in updater the developer can make more by not reinventing the wheel.

U70%

Please don't install it. It is no better than garbage on your phone, if you want to install custom rom Google it for your specific device. You don't need this garbage.

This does not work on Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition - [ASUS_Z00AD] (ZE551ML) Android Phone. [[ Please Update Your Application.!! ]] so I would be able to use it on my Android Phone. This phone is widely used by millions of people, I dont know why this phone is NOT listed in the available supported devices...... Once you update your application so it would be used in my device, I will give you much higher Star Rating.

I used this to update my custom ClockworkMod recovery...downloaded the free version, did the $1.99 in-app purchase, and it said it flashed it just fine. Did a reboot to recovery and the old version was still there. I ended up finding a free version of Philz CWM touch and flashed that...that one worked... not sure why the paid in-app version didn't do anything. I would ask for my money back, but I don't mind giving the occasional 2 dollars to Android development.... I think Phil should get it though (whomever he is).

Can't get it to even install any more after a rom upgrade. When it worked for me it was great. Not sure what the go is with mine now and have not really had the time or patience to work it out. Only issue I did have while it was still working was the downloads not working more recently and no info as to why, just that there was an "error".

The original and still the champ. One of the best app purchases I've made. The updates bothering people is hilarious! Why pay for an app that has no more development to keep up with the latest Android ecosystem? HAVE A SEAT PEOPLE! Great job Koush! Love the super easy to use backup download server feature!!!!

I was in settings and it said upgrade as if I had the free version so I chose to pay because I love you guys and want your apps but I am 99.99999% sure I have already purchased this app. Please check again and refund me one payment when you find this to be just an over site or a glitch. I will check also soon. I trust you guys and know if I was charged twice it was on accident. You are the best!!!

First off it tried to auto flash cwm recovery over the already installed dual recovery as soon as I start the app.uninstalled instantly.This was once usefully to view and obtain new roms,now it's a reminder that I can do it manually for free with just a bit of time and dedication.

Got it on my S3 and installing on note 4 as I intend to root it soon. Still haven't used premium version. Don't see anything wrong with using hardware buttons. If your saying it doesn't work, do some research.. like.. alot of research, you can look into xda and ask questions to experienced users and use YouTube.. it's your bestest friend. Make sure you understand what your doing. No point in taking a knife to a gun fight, especially if you don't know how to use the knife. Good job Dev

I fixed up both my s4 and tab 2 with this. If your a noob you should first Kingo root then BACKUP then install this custom recovery you'll have to search for your own zip files. Then use either micro-SD or computer depending on phone. Then you can install with the recovery. I now have cynogenmod on my tab and a s4 with the lollipop update. love it

The app seems abandoned by the developers. I tried to flash several roms, none of them worked, after blaming the developers decided to switch to TEAMWIN RECOVERY, I have been able to successfully flash, back up, restore multiple roms. What happend? Galaxy S 4 T-mobile JFLTETMO

Good app that gets done what needs to get done for setting up, backing up, and restoring roms. Dev fixed whatever issue wouldn't let CWM Touch upgrade recognize that I had already purchased it after new rom was installed. Took a while but got fixed, thanks Dev.

I'm running a SG5 SM-G900T. Installed cwm, made a successful backup, copied it to my extSD, but now I can't delete the original backup whether from an external file manager or CWM itself. Says an error occured. I now only have 1 gb internal storage left. I tried to delete the files, but it still shows the space is used and the Backup is still listed in CWM. How to correct this? In my SG4, I used to do the same, backup, then export to extSD, then delete the internal backup file to regain lost space. Now it won't work on this SG5. Thanks in advance, Bob

Great app that has any problems fixed pretty quickly. Works wonderful on my old HTC g2 and beautifully on my nexus 4. Only once did I have problems with it and wouldn't fix permissions. Recent update fixed the problem. If you use CM then this is a must.

Just because you install this app doesn't mean you can magically download custom roms. For this app to work properly you must first have unlocked your bootloader, then root your phone. In my past experiences you also need to s-off. Yes, you are able to download it but you can also download super user. Just because you have downloaded theses things does not mean that Android knows how to use them. There are plenty of forums for this information. Try xda developers before leaving negative feedback.

One day the app randomly disappeared and if I try to reinstall it I get an unknown error code -110. My nexus 5 has no issues. I have flashed at least 10 or 15 nightlies to see if the error was caused by cm11. My conclusion is that it's rom manager's fault. I really wish this would work for me because I really like the app and I purchased the paid version

Automatic backup should give you the option to automatically overwrite previous backup if the ROM has not changed since last backup. It does not make sense to schedule an automatic backup and then be forced to remember to manually delete old backups so that you don't run of space on your phone.

Using rooted Kitkat, this recovery crashed my phone. When I rebooted I got the "System Software unauthorized by Verizon wireless was found on this device. Take to the nearest Verizon wireless store for help.". If this happens to you, switch it to Odin mode by holding down the power button, the home button, and volume DOWN button, and when prompted, use volume up. Took me an hour to figure it out, but it fixed my Galaxy S 3.
