This app would be great if it connected properly! It is extremely frustrating, it takes ages to connect, when it does that is... Maybe Bluetooth would have worked better but in this case? I don't think it should have been released in its current stage. That makes me want to sell my Leica Q and look somewhere else. At the price of Leica camera everything should be work perfectly.

Rest assured that it works as intended. You just need to get the configuration right. It's logical but requires some knowledge of how WiFi connections work. You need to ensure you've set up the Wi-Fi parameters in-camera before you try connecting the app. In-camera you have to specify the SSID (otherwise just leave it as the default), and also specify the password (or else leave the default as-is & note it down). Recommend you change both for convenience. Next, turn on camera if not already, launch the Wi-Fi menu option and turn on connection/remote control, you will see a screen with a QR code. Next turn to your phone, launch WiFi, search for the Leica specific SSID that you have previously defined, click on it & enter the password as you previously defined. The phone should then connect to the Leica Q's private WiFi network. Once connected to the Leica Q's network, the app should automatically connect to the camera after searching for a few seconds, you just then have to tap the app screen to connect. The alternative is to scan the QR code on the camera screen with your app QR scanner. This should also trigger the connection & link up app functionality- from which you can control the camera or view & download/delete/play the images to your phone. Good luck! Leica ought to have step by step instructions for the app connection for the less tech inclined.

I expect a helluva lot more from this brand. Leica has no excuses for throwing this app out. The backup function seems to be non-functional. This app should have never seen the light of day.

You'd think that a German company of this stature would make it easy to do this. But it doesn't! And still can't. These guys need to ask Sony for some tips... This is a pathetic app. If anyone knows how to transfer images please help me! What a waste of time....

When is Leica going to solve the connection issue on Android 7. I am using Huawei mate 9! And Leica has collaboration with Huawei! What a joke!

Seeing the Q as a tool for creativity, it's app feels like it's handcuffed. But, first the good: - Connects without issues and I like that. - The UI is intuitive enough I don't feel lost. - For it's basic functions, it does the job. The bad: - The remote control function is confusing for long exposure times. I was trying to get a +30s exposure and for some reason could not select on the app but could on the camera. The T function is also bound by the maximum exposure time, so it's sort of useless (unless i'm missing something here). - It needs some serious updating. It's using some really old android APIs. Icons are not scaling well, for example. - I wish there was more of a community around this so people can make interesting apps to connect to the camera.

Works well so far. A bit buggy on connection, especially with QR code. Also, the live image shown on the screen doesn't focus until I shoot it. Needs to be more responsive.

Works well, no thrills. *Tip*: To transfert photos to phone, one need to select "Camera Play" (and not "Leica Q Album"), then tap "select", then select the photos to be downloaded . The Q needs to be in capture/"live view" mode (not image preview mode) when initiating the connection. Works well on Android 7.1/Nexus 6P.

Everything I've read says you can, but it does not work for me. I can connect the app, control the camera, and view the 'Leica Album' but it's just full of photos on my phone, none of which are on my camera. I've been trying for two days and no luck. Really confused here. Android 6, Nexus 5

Still needs to have presents for just the app versus in camera. I always tap to focus in app, would be nice to have this setting stored for quick connection and configuration.

The app worked well with my HTC cell phone prior to this updated version. Now, it can never establish a connection with my cell phone and thus I can't transfer the photos from my Q to the cell phone anymore. It is disappointing.
