About Mapometer - GPS sport mapping

Mapometer.com (short for mapping pedometer) is an international website providing runners, cyclists and walkers with an easy way to measure the distances of their runs, jogs, rides, walks and hikes using Google maps. It also provides training logs, altitude and elevation measuring and the ability to share routes. Used by athletes worldwide as a tool to train for marathons, half-marathons and triathlons and occasional joggers, mountain bikers and sports men and women to see how far they are going and keep fit.

The Mapometer app is designed to be used in association with a mapometer.com account (although it can be used as a stand-alone app). You can synchronize your app with your mapometer.com account to automatically have all of you training data and routes available both in the app and on the website.

With the app you can:
- Keep a list of pre-planned routes for you to follow.
- Use the GPS facilities of your phone to track new routes or training activities as you do them.
- Manually add activities for which tracking is not appropriate (like pool swims or treadmill runs)
- view your complete training history.
- view details of training sessions including: the Google map for the route; pace, speed and elevation graphs; summary statistics like distance, duration, pace, speed, ascent, descent and energy burned.
- find new places to run by searching among routes in your area that have been saved by other users.
- share new routes or activities with you friends via Facebook, twitter, Google+, email or any other shareable app on your phone.
- plan new routes on our website and then sync to have it available to follow while you train.

The app sometimes stops recording and loses all record of the route up to that point. Upon checking my progress I have found the app has reset back to the home page. It also massively over estimates the height gain so I've been manually plotting my routes on the website rather than use this app.

C70%
by C####:

Intent filters? My running club posts maps of the evening runs using your service. When this app is installed the links still open in the browser. Adding an intent filter to open a URL in an app is literally a couple of hours work. Also, there's no option to login using Twitter/FB/Google in the app (like there is on the website).

Rubbish!! Not impressed- developers please fix!! Its a bit useless if you can't sync app recorded runs to account !! Have a new phone and can't use old runs!!

C70%
by C####:

Serves my purpose. Allows much more flexibility in offline map mode as compared to other apps

C70%
by C####:

Big problem with the sync function. Leads to impossible situation where activities are marooned on your phone. Choose another app, folks.

L70%
by L####:

Would be so much better if you could sync with fitbit or strava.

U70%
by U####:

This app sucks. Will not sync with online account.

M70%
by M####:

I can't see how to find all the details on a route, like the name of the route .having saved a route offline, I now can't find it. So unintuitive.

C70%
by C####:

You can plot your routes or follow others. I use it for canoeing as it has 3 different views, OS map, satellite and Google maps.

C70%
by C####:

Can't map any routes, or at least it doesn't tell you how. Will have to go back to the Web site and uninstall. Big shame as I thought the app would be ideal.

Works perfectly on Nexus 6p. Great functionality.

New version seems to work OK and is easier to use than previous version.

The website has an excellent route plotter for finding new runs but this app just sucks. Uninstalled.

C70%

Cannot create routes... website is great, but this app sucks

C70%
by C####:

That's nice.

C70%

The website is great love the route planner it's fantastic, the app sucks it won't link either manual and automatic so straight away it becomes useless and just a drain on the battery, needless to say it has been uninstalled.

K70%
by K####:

Not particularly impressed, syncing maps for offline took 3 attempts, then the route didn't get recorded and the "auto stop" feature, while useful is lacking it's buddy "auto resume" so you can easily skip big chunks of your track, even if it did actually work. The map choice and gradient and incline histograms are useful, plotting a route is not too hard if not quite intuitive enough. Google maps and bikemap apps are easier to plot routes. The speed and minutes to mile/km features work well, and it's nice that you can expand the features you're most interested in the dash mode, but an average speed, an ETA and possibly a ghosted previous personal best markers on the route would be really useful.

I gave up installing on my phone as it just stuck at Updating Routes. I could not get any tracking either. Se la vie. So I installed on my tablet today and had the same syncing not happening. Clicked off the dialog eventially put it on Auto, Sync Now. It updated my workout log. Oh well. When I went to look at routes though all of mine were there. So it seems it does not know that it has already got the routes and doesn't want to let you know. I had a look at the engery use and found even though my settings are all in there if I do a work out using my tablet I use 75% less energy. I didn't realise it assumes I leveitate when using a tablet. Please fix this. If it updates the online version I will get very depressed quickly. :-) Well it did nothing pretty much like the phone really. I pressed Record several times but nothing happend. The clock did not start; nothing. No message to say why. Got to the destination hoping it had worked and found all it allowed me to do was record which now worked. If all my journeys are like that I will never have any use for this. If it takes minutes to start working let me know. If it waits for location information before it will work let me know. :(

Problem since web version update. Worked perfectly last week, but not now. Also, for some time now, selecting OSM map overlay gives no background map detail at all!

My 40 minute run lasted 20 seconds according to this app.

U70%

The web version seems OK, but the Android app is hopeless. Unable to download maps to use the app offline just keeps saying "Offline maps error". By all means, use the web version, but do not bother with the app as it is too frustrating.

I love the tools on the website. So easy to use and I can work out how far I've cycled or walked pretty much to the inch. Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to plot my route on the app, or at least it isn't obvious how I would do so. I don't have any intention of sharing my progress with others, I like the website just to give me an idea of how far I covered following roads and back streets etc but I'm not feeling this app at all. Give me the freedom that is offered online and I'd give 5 stars.

Create Routes using laptop online. The app cannot link to account. Using mobile phone. Always appear " failed to link to account" try many many time also cannot link

U70%

Rubbish app, have tried sync to my account multiple times and create a new account but it always fails. Useless app as I need to access route maps already created

K70%
by K####:

I've used mapometer online for a couple of years. I was looking forward to using this app to sync with my online account to see exactly where I am. It doesn't sync to my online account and the first time I've used it, I had trouble getting it to record my route, then it stopped recording about 2 minutes later. I hope the developers can sort this out, because if it works as it should it would be the easiest way of sharing routes.

I70%

Used to work quite well (only for reference of mapped routes, recording of activity never really work out) but recently I notice that it doesn't sync the new routes I have saved in my account. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling the app, now it says my existing account is "undefined" & simply REFUSED to link... What's happening???
