After trying a couple similar apps from the Play store, I found this to be the best. I got 2mb xfer speeds from my S4, very nice for work where sites like dropbox are firewalled. Like the https security and the random-generated password so nothing to remember or edit, just pop and drop.

Update: A possible reason for this app's total failure is because I have AirDroid installed too...and those 2 apps MIGHT conflict by using the same port number...though I think my original review is correct. ORIGINAL: The very best apps that transfer files via WiFi, such as AirDroid or MobileGo, are bloated with tons of features. So, I loved WiFi File Server Pro because of its elegant simplicity: it used to do only one thing...transfer files via WiFi...and it did that very well. SINCE UPDATING TO ANDROID v5, this app will NOT connect to my PC (and yes, I disabled my PC's anti-virus suite before trying to get this app to work). So, I returned to the app's Play page...and noticed it was last updated in 2013. It is fair to say that the Developer abandoned his app--don't waste your time or money on this app!

I paid for this but the functionality is not worth the cost. I wanted to upload a large hierarchy of files and folders but the app only seems to handle one file at a time. This is useless for me. There is also no documentation on the seller's website. I've requested a refund and have switched to the very functional (and free) AirDroid.

I was looking for a capability to securely transfer files from various laptops to my various cell phones. With this app, I can safely do this in a United Club, or even a Starbucks. The app enforces strong, one-time passwords, and provides Https:// encryption. Just what I wanted. An amazing additional capability. When traveling for business meetings, sometime I need to get a file from my laptop to my cell phone, and there is no time to find a WIFI access point. I enable the standard Mobile Hotspot on my phone. Then I start the WIFI File Server, which produces the URL and strong password. I then connect my laptop to the mobile hotspot, and bring up a browser, enter the URL for the WIFI File Server, enter the requested password, and then I can transfer to my hearts content with no security issues.
