About Volume Butler

Volume Butler makes volume management simple. In fact after you are setup Volume Butler makes changing your volume a thing of the past.

The idea is that you can take a snap shot of all your volumes at one time and put them into a group. These groups are called “Profiles” and these profiles can then be used in numerous ways to make managing volumes effortless.

Some of the many features found in Volume Butler include:

• Schedule sound profiles when you’re at home, work, anywhere!
• Automatically apply a profile when driving
• Apply audio profiles based on your location
• Use Quick Schedules to silence your device for naps or meetings
• Separate Ringer and Notification volumes for devices with merged volumes
• Apply a profile when you charge your phone
• Use Notifications to customize your notification sounds and vibrate pattern
• Customize 4 widgets to your hearts intent
• Make use of 4 types of shortcuts for Profiles and Quick Schedules
• Automate how your phone sounds with Tasker
• Change how your device sounds with as little as one click
• Simplify your life with different volume for the Speakerphone
• Apply profiles right from your notification bar
• DashClock Extension support
• Apply profiles when connecting to a Wi-Fi network
• Volume Lock - Lock your volumes so they do not change
• Apply Profiles from Google Now Voice Commands!
• App Control - Adjust your volumes based on application start and exit events.

The purpose of Volume Butler is to provide an exceptional way to manage your volumes and audio profiles is how this is accomplished. An audio profile is a group of volume related settings that is saved and can be applied at a later time. Once you have a few profiles you can then automatically have your device apply a profile based on things like location, when you are driving, from your notification bar, and dozens of other ways.

What are users saying about Volume Butler

B70%
by B####:

It resets to the same profile when not moving even if the location hasn't changed and this messes with media volume. I can't find a way to tell it not to mess with media volume. Or if the location hasn't changed it shouldn't keep applying the same profile that is already being applied. Very annoying fighting it while listening to music. Also this could be fixed with just having the ability to exclude changing specific volumes in profiles.

Current version cannot control via my Android wear 2 Huawei Watch.

S70%
by S####:

Basically useless in free version (same as any other volume app) and immediately asks for payment to do anything more. Will not separate volume for notifications from ringer

A70%
by A####:

Looks like do not disturb has been fixed. Will continue to evaluate. Giving an additional star for now. (Paid version on GS7).

Please add Bluetooth support for profiles. Connecting to different bluetooth devices to set profiles for cars, headphones, etc.

Not possible to Separate Ringer and Notification volumes as stated

Doesn't work on Google pixel don't waste your time

The app is listed as free in the store, yet i try to use this and it wants me to pay. IT'S NOT FREE THEN NOW IS IT???

N70%
by N####:

Latest update huge size reduction? Man, you just enlarged it and make it looks more uglier than before.

S70%
by S####:

Could use better documentation

S70%
by S####:

Totally illogical system, if you want to set notification sounds in it. And overall too. Disappointed, even though i paid to buy the unlock, but after s week i had enough

S70%
by S####:

Love the app and long time user, but now it is not usable as every change invokes do not disturb. Cannot get it to NOT set do not disturb.

F70%
by F####:

I thought the update had done away with the ability to separate ring and notification volumes but it hasn't. To bring the option back, go to Settings. Under 'volumes,' choose 'Ringer Volume.'

B70%
by B####:

I've jumped through way too many hoops with this damn app. I have to mess with the settings just to split ringer and notification volume when this should be the apps default state, but no matter what I do the two are always the same volume. Putting ringer at 5 causes notification volume to jump 5. I just want to split the two ffs!

U70%
by U####:

I make a profile and set a schedule, but it won't lock. I can change the volume at will - it's just as if this app isn't there - uninstall :-(

U70%

Has a lot of promise but does not execute. Purchased expansion packs and it crashes every time I use them. Dev has not responded to any of my emails.

Like the title says, this app is very different from the apps I've tried in regard to controlling your volumes through an application. It's the customizing options I like most about Volume Butler. I've been using this app for approx. a couple of years and it fits my needs.

U70%
by U####:

Separate volumes are available! Search and read the instructions on dev website. App works as intended. It would be usefull to know what are the benefits of pro version.

U70%
by U####:

Will give 5 stars if implemented

U70%
by U####:

Unfortunately does not have separate function anymore

U70%
by U####:

The author of the app did not make it readily apparent that this app is not the full version. After working so much to add profiles and then find out that I am only allowed one location until I pay $50, it leaves a bad first impression. Be ready to pay if you end up liking it.

I got this when my Moto X was on lollipop, and it seemed to work separating my ringer and notifications, but since upgrading to Marshmallow I've just found that by silencing my notifications it also silences my ring. Even though the app widget tells me there should be volume, when I go into my settings the ring is on silent. Will have to uninstall until this is fixed. App is great otherwise.

U70%
by U####:

It was great but it doesn't work properly after the last update. Widget icons are now bunched up and profile marker no longer exists.

U70%
by U####:

Totally illogical system, if you want to set notification sounds in it. And overall too. Disappointed, even though i paid to buy the unlock, but after s week i had enough

Can't separate notification and ring.

U70%
by U####:

Used to be OK, though the interface was and remains confusing. The latest update sucks. The latest update destroyed the 4x1 widget. It used to be easy to see which profile was enabled, now I can't see it at all. Also, when swithching profiles it now changes the ringtone on the first SIM to default. Yes, I know I can specify the right ringtone in each profile, but this is a very poor solution, because every time I decide to change the ringtone I will have to remember to change Volume Butler settings. This didn't use to be an issue. One way to fix it would be to use a setting that does not affect the choice of a ringtone in any way.

Y70%
by Y####:

I've used this since I first got my nexus 6 and it worked fine separating ring tone and notifications for awhile. The last few updates have caused that to fail. It's like they are merged again even though there is still an option to split them. Uninstalling

Y70%
by Y####:

Has been greatly improved recently. Active profile marker on the widget bar has disappeared which is a pity.

Y70%
by Y####:

Since the last update the icons got smaller and it is hard to see which profile is selected making the usage very uncomfortable.

J70%
by J####:

Most recent update still had not fixed the issue of linked notification and ringer....

Y70%
by Y####:

The UI is nice looking and somewhat intuitive. I can't really tell if a schedule will work (I clicked a check box and am hoping that's the right thing to do) but I like how easy it was to set up for multiple days. I like how it has a DashClock extension.

N70%
by N####:

Was a little confused at first to get it to separate merged sounds like ringer and notification (you have to select what sounds it can adjust) But it's a dream after that. I no longer use profiles, just the little widget to adjust sounds as I need

I70%
by I####:

Needs settings for lollipop interruptions. When I come out of a schedule in silent mode and it switches to default vibrate the no interruptions star is still up. If I go into volume Butler and click on the vibrate profile then the star clears and vibrate icon appears.

R70%

A quick tip for separating the ringtone from the notifications that worked for me, I'm in lollipop so I granted notification access for the app, in the Sound and Notifications settings, and I also enabled the Ringer Volume in the app settings. And for the developer, I couldn't find anywhere what features are unlocked for paying.

T70%
by T####:

I love the features, but hate that it's been killing my battery lately!

Y70%
by Y####:

I used to use this to mute notifications while leaving my ringer on. You can't do that now.

E70%
by E####:

Works well for what I need it to do. Unfortunately, one of the more recent updates made the app virtually useless. Thankfully, the creators are constantly updating it, improving its functionality. I recommend it, but I wouldn't so flippantly download updates without reading recent reviews first. UPDATE 5/8/15: Now the custom sound effects replay multiple times hyper fast for a few seconds when they're only supposed to play once! What the..??
